24:27 I love those shuriken tags at the end of a combo. It's like a consolation prize for getting destroyed in a fight with Ryu. "Here, have a shuriken to take with you to the afterlife. My treat."
Very very helpful, I am on hard mode run right now, just beaten alma thanks to you! I am grateful for those videos, and it’s awesome seeing someone passionate about a video game in our « everything sucks » RU-vid era.
I played Ninja Gaiden B/ NG2 as a kid and loved them, I remember having to select "easy mode" in NG2. This was maybe 13 years ago. Now as an adult of 26 I found myself really into devil may cry. In my opinion, this game is so much harder than devil may cry. In DMC, especially after playing 3, you can style switch and cancel several moves to apply pressure all around you. Meaning, once you're decent, depending on the enemies you can unleash hell upon them with style and weapon switching combos. Ninja Gaiden is the antithesis of this; you literally have to react to every attack in the game. You can't distribute damage in such a way to constantly stagger enemies, you can't devise a gameplan to overwhelm the enemy. There is no royal guard like "block all" solution. This game is extremely difficult especially on high levels and I love it for that.
Great video. I think your reference to Bast Fiends is spot on. Every new item you mentioned, I can easily imagine how the Bast would always catch me off guard, and how your solution would actually cause them to whiff their attacks.
I love your videos man. Those crab fiends made me rage like a madman back in the day. I had no idea that their sliding tracking attack could be evaded by jumping diagonally after a roll. Many thanx for demonstrating this.
This video is still immensely helpful. Camera control is definitely something I take for granted from other games; usually the fixed cameras from older DMCs allow me to just ignore it, and most modern character action games have a hard lock that takes the work away. That said, I usually play Bayonetta without relying on hard lock on, and the camera rarely gets as finicky as this. The Ninja Gaiden Master series as a whole (even as far down as Razor's Edge) seem to have real problems if you allow the automatic camera to have its way. The number of times the camera absolutely goes bonkers when near walls (even invisible ones) is bad but expected. However, when I'm fighting in the open and, for whatever reason, the camera decides to go for a completely overhead view that ensures I see zero enemies... Whew, not cool. So yeah, as obvious as it seems, it appears that dilligent camera control is more important in Ninja Gaiden than other games of its ilk, and honestly It's like learning to drive a manual.
I'm excited to finally play the ninja gaiden games. I'm planning to get ninja gaiden sigma for the ps3. Judging by this video, it seems that there is a lot more complexity to ninja gaiden than I initially thought.
@@tk7977 I'm having fun playing through sigma right now. Though, I'm sure black is better. I would've gotten black if it was available for the ps3/ps4.

Hey Joe, thanks for all your NGB videos. I'm currently on Mission 9 on Hard mode and your Master Ninja stuff is really helping me improve my game. I have some questions: * How do you practice aiming with the bow? So far, for me, one of the most frustrating parts of the game is aiming at those nine targets on that tower with the bow on Mission 9. Those rocket guys make doing so a complete pain in the ass. Is there a trick to aiming quickly and properly? * How do you avoid Awakened Alma's tail grab attack? Every time I rolljump away from it, it still catches me. * What is the best way to dodge rocket launcher shots? The rocket launcher dudes only seem to shoot when I'm in the middle of a roll, so as a result, I get hit. * Is there a consistent way to beat General Dynamo without taking any damage? He seems to me to be the most bullshit boss in the game. How do you dodge his electricity bolts consistently?
Glad they are helpful :) The bow is a very tricky thing to get comfortable with. Much like a lot of other actions in NGB you can buffer in your aiming direction so when I hold B to ready the shot I am always moving the stick in the direction I intend to aim at as well. The arrow will always go to the same place too so once you get an eye for that you'll be hitting shots very consistently. Awakened Almas grab has a massive hitbox on it infront of her. Always roll into her to avoid it, there are a lot of active frames on it though so try to time it as late as you can. Dodging rockets can be distance dependant but usually if you pay close attention to the sound of them being fired and roll then you should avoid them no problem. Worse case you'll take some chip but you shouldn't take the full hit of the rocket this way. Patience is the key for Dynamo. All of his attacks have quite long recovery but attacking him during this stage will reset his state. Only go for quick hits if your goal is no damage. One or two hits at most then get away from him. He will always arc his electric bolts along the direction you are currently travelling, this is why you'll often see me roll one way and then jump the opposite. This makes it much harder for him to hit you and when he is firing at max speed is the only way to dodge them consistently. It takes a lot of practice especially on higher difficulties as he can machine gun his shots for quite some time.
Thanks for the detailed responses, man. I just finished through Hard mode and made specific save files for all the parts that gave me trouble, like that double tank boss, so that I could practice with the bow. I am now at Very Hard and am about to reach the Dynamo boss, so I'm just dreading that. I'll definitely take your multi-directional roll advice into mind. But I still hate that there's zero signposting for his laser attacks. It feels so cheap. I'm looking at some Japanese players and they apparently use a lot of Smoke Bombs for his fight.
Can't believe I forgot to mention smoke bombs! They are fantastic against Dynamo. They should always buy you enough time to land a decent string on him, either XYY with the sword or chucks or give you a window to put some distance between you and him. Smoke bombs in general are an amazing tool. Don't be afraid to abuse them.
Yes, i use XYY a lot on him. Also you can use it to avoid his close range attacks, and you can even extend your air time by throwing a shuriken after XY and by delaying the helm splitter as long as possible. And generally i would say as long as you don't have to take care of some soldiers, i tend to stay in a close to medium range so he is mostly doing some close quarter attacks anyway and doesn't shoot around like crazy.
That happens when you don't alter the direction on the analogue stick, if you keep the stick pressed in then the jump will follow that direction. A good way to practice is try roll jumping in an L pattern, roll forward and jump to either the left or right. Once you get comfortable with that you can start doing more variations. It does take quite a bit of practice though.
Hey man(its GRieVeR) awesome to talk to you at Final Round. I like to take a short break from fighters after tournament so I don't get too burned out. Will probably play Lighning Returns or Dark Souls but this motivates me to run through the Gaidens again, most likely Sigma or Sigma2
What's up man, you can't go wrong with the first Sigma, that's a great NG game. I'm still looking into everything I wanted to check on for Injustice since Final Round. Made me think of a lot of stuff for Grundy that I want to improve on.
You're so lucky to have been able to play this game. I wanted to buy this game when I had the money a few years ago, but instead picked up the wrong game off the shelf. Now, I am unable to find this game on Xbox.
I think Sigma suffered from being very similar to Black in terms of mechanics and as a result Sigma got maxed out fairly quickly. Karma runs and mission mode got to the same point NGB did in just a couple of years and nobody seemed that interested in other types of runs. I think overall though most people just prefer NGB. Once I wrap up my NGB runs and get HD recording figured out on my PS3 I'll be going back to it though. I would like to get the time down from the run I did ages ago.
