I was around 9 years old when I saw this movie and thought it was amazing. But I was already a fan of these types of movies. My parents would let me pick them out from our local VHS/BETA rental store (Bigelow Video). So many great memories of that store. And I'm so glad I didn't have prudish parents that didn't let me see this type of stuff. Thanks for the nostolgia!

Also, the eyepatch that Sho Kosugi's character wears is made from a tsuba, which is the guard of a katana. The bit that looks like a bottle opener is where the blade of the sword would go through! This is Kit with martial arts trivia!

I have seen this movie about 1000 times when i was young. I watched Jackie Khan, Bruce lee, Chuck Norris etc every single day. BUT one was above the others and he was legendary and most famous ninja Sho Kosugi. I loved his way of being ninja most. He was so good that it kept amazing me every time. His sword fights were brutal and realistic. He did not give you another chance.

When I was doing martial arts, myself, I had a friend that studied "ninjitsu." One day, we were chillin' and talking about what we had learned recently and he said that he had learned to throw ninja stars around corners while wearing tabi socks. Since I was learning how to break people's legs with knee bars and heel hooks, I found this slightly hilarious. And then I saw this clip! I am jealous that I never learned to throw ninja stars around corners while wearing tabi socks.

"Iaito" which is a katana specially crafted for "iaijutsu," "Ninjato" which is "Ninja sword." "Katana" refers as general to "sword," but specificaly just to the Daito, which is the samurai main sword.
