I can't believe they introduced Jay's character with that line. And I'm embarrassed to say this, but that line is absolutely _hilarious._ I remember way back in 2010 I saw that scene in a trailer and laughed so hard. That's when I knew this show wasn't afraid to have edge and be funny. That line, as uncivilized and disrespectful as it was, is what convinced me to give Ninjago a shot and I've never looked back.
That's one thing I like more about the newer seasons, they really push their relationship more, but not in a bad way and establish the fact that they are ying and yang. It's awesome!
Fun Fact: Nya’s original ninja outfit is composed of blue (representing Jay) and red (representing Kai) This shows how they are both important parts of her life.
if i had a dime for everytime the blue comic relief's girlfriend sacrificed herself i'd have three dimes. its not alot but its weird it happened three times
@@JvdahMC What i don't like about the dance competition is where the blue haired female kicks nya. She was begin a little mean to nya ,jay and her partner . 👿
It wasn’t even his fault to begin with it was Nya and Jay both, Nya saw the futuristic fortune that said she was to be with Cole and told Jay’s parents and Jay heard her and when Cole walked in he immediately attacked Cole who wasn’t really interested in Nya til she started trying to get Cole to loosen up
@@dinojack5567but they both grabbed hands in one scene and when jay came they both stopped and hid there hands and even cole said "dont tell jay" or smth like that
@@kaylaskreations4973 well to be honest I first started shipping in season 1 but gave up on it in the very first episode of season 3 but after I saw the reflection in season 5 I started shipping them again
I’m so glad they never did the whole “brother disapproves of sisters boyfriend” plot between Kai and Jay. That plot sucks so much and glad that they only kinda did it in the pilots
Zane: "But he wants to know if you like blue?" Nya: "It's my favorite color." Little did we the audience know at the time that *one* line foreshadowed more about Nya than just the start of an amazing relationship. Another reason Skybound's my personal favorite Ninjago season? Besides some other factors, it did *SO* much for me as both a Jay fanboy *&* a Jaya fanboy!
I love them so much and whenever I like somebody like Jay and he got married with Nya I would just accept the fact that they would be a cuter couple than Jay and I
@@camnunes8847 as some people say, if something leaves you in arguing maybe this something is more awesome at some point, than just a good end. So for me it's kinda original and makes me to wait for 16 season:)
@@thefanimator9386 I have rather... complicated feelings towards shipping in general. I don't really see the point in fawning over romantic pairings and feel that doing so distracts from the story. But I'm also not blind and I often find that the best romantic plot lines are organically incorporated into the story instead of distracting from it. Even better is when it's rather casually incorporated. All the drama is erased and you're left with two people who just care about each other. Like it's a wonderful thing for people to be happy and I think that's what appeals to me about Jay and Nya now. They care about each other, they feel chill and natural, and they are happy. And it feels good to be able to see characters you've known for 10 years reach that point. It kind of feels like Aang and Katara, it feels complete. This was a relationship that was built up pretty well -except for the Rebooted to Skybound drama- so from a story perspective, I have to respect what the show has done. It's one of the most natural and organic relationships I've seen on tv and is _mostly_ well incorporated into the story that explores the characters. Jay and Nya sort of make me feel like the beginning of UP and that's when you know you've written a good relationship!
@@Obi-Wan_Kenobi that’s a really good analysis. I like shipping but I agree with people fawning and getting way too passionate over certain pairings and eventually getting aggressive. Nya and Jay are chilled and neutral on everything and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I agree with you 100%, I’m glad to have had this discussion with you
@@thefanimator9386 These are weird times when we have can have thorough discussions about plastic, brightly colored, cartoon ninja as a microcosm of fictional relationships in general. But Ninjago is 10 years old and has built up quite the legacy so I'm sure we can be forgiven for it. Good to talk to you as well. XD
Jay, hearing that some dude has a sister: **instantly gets a crush on a girl he hasn’t even met** Jay, a decade later or so: “Hey Kai, how should I propose to Nya?”
@@cricketkid1709 I'm 90% she will! the writers can't get rid of her that easily since she's the main character (of the girls). Don't forget she represents a phoenix bird, a bird that regenerates and is born again! Also, she isn't death, I'm sure the Ninja will find a way to save her!
I honestly think their dynamic is so cute, I kinda am a little annoyed they did that jealousy arc with Cole, there's better ways to test a relationship like with Seabound. also I love the fact in later arcs Nya was no longer a damsel in distress and Jay was absolutely into it, and she gained her own agency. easily some of the best character development, and Jay learned to consider Nya's feelings on it. Edit: OK as someone who hadn't seen the later seasons I was CRUSHED by that last part
I need to catch up on ninjago I stopped watching cause Netflix didn’t have all the episodes back then I got to the point I think the season with the ghosts
@@magnetic_5oh194 i think it’s still in the process of being dubbed for English cause I mean I have a set from the new line though it has nya in the set (but if I remember correctly nya disappeared at the end of sea bound which means the set gave me a spoiler)
16:35 This conversation matches up with Nya’s conclusion in Seabound perfectly! It’s just incredible seeing the character progression in Ninjago as a whole.
@@mr.livingmeme7132 That's Ninjago's secret. It tricked us, it was never a funny Ninja Lego show. It was an emotional yet honest rollercoaster that pushed storytelling to it's limit!
Ngl that scene makes me think that Nya values "being able to choose her own destiny" over everything that exists, considering she ditched everyone to do blob blib i am under the woter
Nya’s death was by far the saddest moment in the show, Jay is one of my favorite characters and so is Nya, seeing Nya leave and Jay taking it so hard was just heartbreaking. Edit: well, this moment was amazing until it no longer was… THANKS A LOT CRYSTALIZED!
Nya's sacrifice was executed so well. I was already trying to keep it together watching the last episode of Seabound, then they put the dedication to Kirby Morrow.
I cried so hard I started coughing, and then I cried harder at the dedication. I literally tired myself crying lmao but hey, having a good cry once in a while is good for you!!
Younger Nya: Jay, you're a really nice and a funny guy, but I don't like you like that/I still can't decide if I like you. Older Nya: NO YOU CAN'T HAVE JAY. YES HE'S BETROTHED...T O M E, OH, YOU WANNA FIGHT FOR HIM? FINE BY ME! YAAH

Let me help you out as you seem to have forgotten the names of the first 5 seasons. Pilot, Rise Of the Snakes, The Green Ninja, Rebooted, Tournament of Elements, Possession, and to keep going. Skybound, Day of the Departed, Hands of Time, Sons of Garmadon, Hunted, March of The Oni, Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu, Prime Empire, Master of the Mountain, The Island, and last but not least, Seabound. I wonder what season 16 will be called.
One of my favorite things about Jaya is that in the climax of season 6 and onward, they just act like really close friends who just do hugs and kisses and say "I love you" more often than usual. I don't know why, but I just really like the fact that it makes their dynamic feel more natural and cute. Not to say that the more lovey-dovey stuff in the past seasons are bad, I love a good amount of those scenes. But like, Jay trying to impress Nya and the thing with Cole gets quite insufferable at times. Also, I just love that Nya and Jay's personalities just bounce off each other. Nya is braver than Jay which helps with Jay's pessimism and stuff, meanwhile Nya definitely has anger issues which Jay can just chill through. And they take turns protecting and saving each other which is awesome. Also Also, WOW. I DID NOT know there was Seabound foreshadowing and irony in Season 8
Except for the part where Nya sort of cheated on Jay with Cole in season 3, then didn't give either of them an answer, then didn't even properly break up with Jay, and then didn't even act like they were ever in a relationship. We don't talk about that.
@@ligh.tningwav3 But she initiated advancements towards Cole. She only held his hand but I would still consider that cheating. Cole and Jay acted really immaturely but Jay especially really didn't do anything. The worst he did was feel really jealous and angry, but he's entitled to that feeling when Nya is was his girlfriend and she was acting really disloyal and debating Cole or Jay _while still being in a relationship._ That's the worst part, if she at least broke up with him she would be allowed to choose but she didn't even give Jay the dignity of a break up. She strung him along and it was extremely unfair and never even gave Jay or Cole a solid answer. It's a huge weakness in Ninjago, how they never really held Nya accountable for her pretty scummy behavior. Rather they put all the focus on the boys having to work out their problems. And I'm glad they worked it out but it doesn't change that fact that Nya started all of this this and was ultimately to blame for the entire problem, but the show never even called her out for this behavior, they just let her get away with it.
@@Obi-Wan_Kenobi I wasn't implying that it was Jay's fault, but more Cole's as well. He wasn't even interested in Nya yet he fought Jay for her love or whatever. I despise the love triangle, still I think it's important to take in count that in this situation none of them acted how they should've. But well, they were all pretty immature back then, unlike now.
@@ligh.tningwav3 Yeah, I think Cole and Nya both acted extremely out of line. I was just implying that the blame is not equal between all the characters because I think Jay ultimately did very little wrong except for overreact. (I almost feel like the mature thing for him to do would just have been to break up with her). I just didn't want to imply that they were all equally at fault. Nya was super out of line for initiating the whole thing and dragging it on and Cole was also ridiculously wrong to go for her when Jay was clearly in a relationship with her. Jay was more or less a victim in all this. Like getting mad at someone being disloyal is nowhere near as bad as the person being disloyal in the first place.
That's quite interesting that you mentioned that. Honestly, I never noticed it. Good ear! It's intriguing that Wojira was mentioned as a guardian of sorts at first, only to become a not-so mythical creature of chaos. That said, it looks like I'll have to watch the *entirety* of Ninjago again and see if there's any more of these "foreshadowings"... ...not that I mind, since Ninjago is *amazing*!
The Neverrealm mountain pass Lloyd has to go through where he can't make a sound or disturb the snow is also called Wojira's Wrath. I believe that one isn't necessarily related though.
Can we just appreciate how instead of spending like, 10 or so seasons of 'will they happen, will they not happen?' or them trying and failing to be a couple over and over, The show instead focuses on them in an ACTUAL RELATIONSHIP. We see the actual ups and downs of them as a couple, and we don't have to slog through a long 'what are these feelings' plotline beforehand. It feels fresh, and I really like that, because it makes Jay and Nya as a couple more memorable, because we actually get to see them be together. I wasn't a huge fan of them as a kid for some reason, (I think it might be because the love triangle subplot made me cringe, even back then) but looking back, they're actually made for each other, and I really appreciate their chemistry over the course of the show
*Pilots* - Intend Zone *Seasons 1-2* - The Uptrend Zone *Seasons 3* - The Expend Zone *Seasons 4-6* - The Friend Zone *Season 7-9* - The Mend Zone *Season 10-14 -* The End Zone *Season 15 -* The Splash Zone
I love how at first it's an awkward crush to a more comfortable, mature, silly, relationship. I don't like how Nya has been trying to do what she wants this whole time but always ends up doing her destiny thing. She wanted to chose who to be with, she ended up with Jay. She wanted to be the samurai, but then water ninja was her destiny. And then, she wanted to live. But she completed her destiny as the ocean.
I cried so much at this part and honestly I’m just here for the comments because, while I do ship them, I don’t want to tire myself crying at this specific ending scene for the second time today
I watched this entire video. And the end was a heartbreak. I used to watch ninjago but that was a while ago. I watched until s4 and it’s amazing to see my childhood characters evolve.
13:52 this scene right here is my favorite out of all the Jaya moments a close second would be the dance scene in prime empire This scene really goes to say how jay and Nya both compliment each other jay is flapping like a headless chicken. Screaming that he doesn’t have enough energy to create his dragon Nya is calm and instantly comes up with the plan to create their dragons and when she notices that jay might not have enough energy she doesn’t just create her own dragon and use that to save jay she instead comes up with the crazy idea to combine their energies ( now keep in mind that they know water, and electricity don’t mix so they had no idea if what they were planning would work) but nya still had faith in Jay it shows the level of trust each other have in one another jay could’ve easily said “ no, save yourself” but he didn’t because he trusted nyas plan
@@hohoak2940 I figured, since it was revealed that Zane got his element after being visited by the previous master of ice, that who the element is passed to is kind of decided by the current elemental master, their parents probably thought their elemental powers should pass respectively to the child more like either parent, although it could just pass to offspring, unless one has no offspring
Jay: We're saving a girl! Is she hot? Me: I'm sure this won't last long *watches the rest of ninjago* Me: This ship makes me cry every time I drink water now!
6:12, Ooh, you done it now- 6:25, Truly a tragedy 6:45, WAFFLES! ...What are we doing...? 7:05, Oh f**k, that one hurt me... 9:00, GIT IM, GIRL! 18:03, This whole scene is so powerful 19:08, YOU CAN'T DOUBLE-WHAMMY ME LIKE THAT, THAT'S NOT FAIR!! 22:35, COLE, I WILL HIT YOU- 23:25, That was smooth, Jay 25:53, DEM MOVES- 29:25, Poor Cole 39:16, Stone...heart...MELTING...! 46:13, Out of context from the other side of the phone, that sounds awful suggestive
While I doubt it's permanent, I'm still shocked at 15's ending with writing Nya out. She'll probably be back in a season or two, because the visions of the future from the reflections in that cave from Season 5 show her and Jay together, but the fact they did it in the first place is surprising.
They haven't done that in Seabound either, it's always on the cheek. I think the creators are worried on the lips is too mature. Granted they used to do it in earlier seasons, but maybe the creators think it was too mature in retrospect or they're aiming new seasons at a younger audience.
In a way Wojira itself is proof that Jay and Nya were always meant to be together. The serpent ruled the realm of the Endless Ocean with the power of waves of water and storms of lightning.
1:07 Jay: Well, I gotta take this long walk all by myself, it would be nice to have some companyyyy A second later 1:15 Jay: *"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-"*
7:26 The moment Ninjago suddenly made Nya out of character compared to the previous seasons! She went from always blushing around Jay and encouraging him to THIS? HOW!?!? The stupid love triangle with Cole ruined everything for about 3 seasons! Nya was very excited with Jay before and even was the one to initiate a kiss (cheek or lips) most of the time and suddenly she’s telling Jay to respect boundaries…? Thank goodness Skybound restored their relationship back to what it first was…!
The love triangle only went till the middle of season 4 when Jay and Cole had to fight each other. Jay and Nya’s relationship wasn’t show as well until season 6 though
6:18 ok but hold up, Jay is the only one who killed their doppelganger on his own. Anti Zane got distracted by the kids Anti Cole got distracted and pushed into Cole. Anti Kai got something in his eyes Anti Jay told real Jay he kissed Nya and he did the job on his own
19:31 I was so involved in this part that I forgot that Jay had one more wish I was so happy that nya didn't die and that kiss at the end had me cheering
It's a funny comment to type but those weren't actually Jay's first words. He went on a little rant about how Wu never told them there was a 4th Ninja first.
46:32 Nya: yes its true the greatest love stories do always end in tragedy. Me; yes niayes its true the greatest love stories do always end in tragedy.
