This season is one of my favourite seasons of the whole show. I love the tournament vibes, truly exploring whole new concepts like other Elemental masters, getting more lore about the Serpentine War, and truly understanding Garmaddons past and his character far more. I also really like this switch with Garmaddon mentoring the ninja this season and seeing how his teachings are much more nuanced and complicated due to his own complex upbringing as Chen's Pupiil. I also really love Garmaddons sacrifice in this season and giving his character a full circle ending, making up for all the wrong he did and making peace with how he deceived Wu and Misako, even if she forgave him. Chen is also a really fun villain in this season. Despite acting like a cooky grandpa, he is still a very cunning and manipulative villain using the ninja's own insecurities like Jay and Cole's beef, Kai's inherent jealousy over Lloyd and Garmaddon's lies against them and his comeuppance at the end seeing him called out for the imposter he truly is and banished by the original Anachondia generals was really satisfying. The fight scenes in this series are also really cool, and I especially loved Kai's fight scenes. Seeing Zane again was truly wholesome, and I liked seeing Zane's own mental struggle to find his strength again and conquer his own inner demons after being gone for so long. it ultimately helped inspire the other masters to find their own strength and form their Elemental Masters.
My favourite season. Sog is good but nothing beats how good this season is. Kai gets some great development in the first half, the elemental masters are a great inclusion, chen is such a good antagonist, all the ninja get great moments and feel important unlike other seasons, the lore and backstory is interesting, has some great and memorable action scenes such as kai vs karloff on the boat, kai vs ash and jay vs cole vs the cultists, and the whole premise is so enthralling. My one gripe is that lloyd hijacked the season from kai at the end as it felt like kai was forgotten after they leave the island so the final 1/3 is more about Lloyd and i don't hate what they do with lloyd and garmadon but considering kai was supposed to be the focus, it feels distracting and i would have loved to have seen a proper final confrontation between kai and chen at the corridor of elders
I would say it is, it’s my most rewatched season, the elemental masters were one of my favourite things ever added in the first 7 seasons, Chen is still one of the most interesting villains for me, was the first season I felt did Cole as the “caring” character ( Went back for the elemental masters, and gave up his win to Jay )
Lloyd learnt how to create his energy dragon in season 3 after facing his fears after having his golden power stolen and nearly drowning, but the scene was removed when season 3 went from 10 episodes down to 8
Season 3 was never shortend, quite the opposite, the season was initialy 4 episodes (which is why ep 1 is so rushed) then elongated to 6 and then 8, this is why this season has like.....3 endings ?
I call this: the Tournament Arc. It's too fitting, ya know. Also, at 12:37, those are Kai and Nya's parents who will be revealed in Season 7. Also, some of the characters in this season originated from an obscure failed brand featuring special agents from 2013. I once saw ads for these sets on LEGO Magazine next to my twin brother while our parents drove us through Beaverton and rocked out to one of our local metal stations. I forgot the name, but the LEGO wiki could give us the proper title.
the reason i loved this season was cause i was so young and i didnt have anything else to do. i also loved the suits, the tournament part and giving us a answer abt zane
Part 2 of dragons rising s2 is actually going to have a tournament of sources of sorts. I only wish they would dedicate an entire season for the tournament but I still can’t wait to see if this tournament is going to live up to the hype!
I don't care if I say it because it's a fact, or just opinion, or is it because I'm nostalgic and own a DVD of episodes 40-44 in Polish dub, but Yes, it is great!
Fun fact: You can tell the difference between a true anacondrai and a fake one with their arms. A real one has black arms (except pythor) while fake ones have purple arms.
I’m not sure if this was ever confirmed but I just thought of something with Tom mentioning the idea of re doing the tournament. What that was is the reason the spell wasn’t permanent was because they missed Wind, Water and anything in another realm
1. kai and jay fight fight in season 16 its a crap fight but saying the ninja never fight again is false 2. pixal stays in zanes head for less than 4 seasons so saying most of the show is crazy 3. yes skylor used the master of forms power, they explicitly say thata
The problem with the episode is that the tournament should've ended at a specific point but for whatever reason the other elemental masters believed chen over the ninja "just because" not to mention. Chen's master plan makes absolutely no sense like. Why would they participate with the shady promise of giving the winner the elemental staff with no personal benefit? What if one of them decided not to accept the invitation? Zane is used as a bait to force the ninja to come but what about the others? Why chen needed to make a tournament outside of his own enjoyment? Just capture them all separately.
The season is good, the thing i like about this season is his unique identity from the titular tournament, witch is a shame they drop the tournament half way through the season and it becomes a standard Season of Ninjago by the end, this doesn't ruin the season but is still a shame, also the elemental dragons are an ass pull to have an excuse for the characters to get of the island, it was a stupid power that they dropped later on and i blame this season for that. Witch is why i HOPE that the tournament arc in dragons rising S2 will be better and hopefully it lasts more then 4 episodes
I think this is a bit overrated. Yes, they don't mess up the season, they brought back the old suits for the first episode and it was kinda interesting with a few drops of lore here and there but that's kinda it.
As someone with zero nostalgia for this show, S4 is fine. It's fairly entertaining but I wouldn't call it great. (I hold a similar opinion on S5) The tournament concept is good but the execution is a little lacking. Skylor is kind of a mess of a character. She doesn't get enough focus to flesh her out properly, has little chemistry with Kai, and her motivation for betraying Chen is extremely weak. The way the ninja stumble upon Chen's lair and plan is incredibly dumb and contrived. The finale should have been the fight for the staff. Everything after the spell succeeds was either boring, disconnected, or unnecessary. (Yes, I'll caveat this by saying, "except Garmadon's death" but even then, I feel he could've been kept around for Possession.) That said, I understand the love this season gets. The tournament arc is pretty fun, new powers are cool (even if it's a complete retcon lol) there's a pretty great balance between the MCs, Cole even gets a neat little side story, Garmadon gets some nice development, and the villians are interesting and memorable. In a ranking, ToE might make my top 5 but its far from #1.
@@ivettrivera5306 honestly i think he is the worst match up because he can only make himself smoke but i think morro could easily nullify this by creating a vortex of air imagine a washing machine with inside a dress i think the master of smoke would have the same end
@@ivettrivera5306 eh it depends gravity still affect flyng body at best i think he negate the abilities of morro to fly forcing him a battle on the ground
Honestly I think the whole last 3 eps kind of ruin the season just because it takes the focus away from kai. Also, I think garmadon should have never died, he should have stayed good throughout the rest of the show. That would be kind of drastic tho.
I just realised something they didn't need to sacrifice garmadon as they could've just gotten the flute that pythor stole and use it to hypnotize the anacondrai and Chen into their tombs and even if they didnt know where the flute was pythor could've just told them where it was
@@darthjarjar9856 hmm yes every character except jay being flanderized into being stupid along with a painfully inconsistent villain, the best of ninjago
@@ChickenTablet you did not just criticize one of the best season, with a carismatic villain. At least they didnt focus only on the ninjas and actually cared about the side characters, something that i havent seen from ninjago for a long time
