Nintendo 3DS - Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate E3 Trailer

Can't understand why fans hate it....really loved the Story and the story of LOS and waiting for LOS2 all connecting together Awesome story line and people have to understand that it is a remake story something new from scratch not relating to old franchises. It's like Solid snake and Big boss. We always thought Big boss is evil. But when we know the true story of him its sad. Same with Dracula have a sad story, in fact he's the one who protect people in the past and he's the one who will kill Satan the devil himself in LOS2,

I'm so thankful for the LOS art style. Over the years the Castlevania franchise has been drowned out by silly anime tropes and glam rock/hair metal styled characters. It was ridiculous. This new take on the franchise really harkens back to the original games' germanic/classical horror feel. Decent games but fantastic art design.

I absolutely love the accents! Castlevania has so many nostalgic moments for me.. I used to play it on the original Nintendo, getting frustrated when I had to pull out the cartridge and blow the dust out to get the game to work haha! Oh the nostalgia :-)

For everyone who doesn't recognize the bit of music in the trailer, it is from Castlevania III Dracula's Curse for the NES. It is from one of the tower levels.

Just looked it up, the little bit of music in this trailer is derived from level 5 - 0A if you picked the route that takes you to Sypha Belnades in Castlevania III Dracula's Curse.

a mix of both. You have more classicvania style levels and stages, but each stage is explorable, repeatable, has secrets and multiple paths and stuff to unlock by returning with more abilities.

The games graphics look really quite good. It's a 2.5D sidescroller which always look standard and nice but I can tell that this game, once it gets some polish in time for its release will look really good. I am not a castlevania fan but I am curious to try this game. Looking forward to when this demo hits the 3DS Eshop.

because of what you just said and the fact that they dont all have the same triangle nose that makes everybodies face look exactly the same. this looks like a western style cartoon. its fucking awsome.

there taking the characters from the original timeline and changing them to how they see fit. A fresh start is always good

....apparently, both. Mathias is the dracula in the original series(starting in Lament of Innocence). Gabriel is the new dracula in the new series(Lords of Shadow).

The great Robert Carlyle back as Gabriel Belmont turned insane! Love it!

Every time I watch this trailer, the game seems to look better and better! :D I really like the graphics and the voice acting sounds stellar. I'll be sure to pick this up the moment it hits the shelves!

That....would be a *fantastic* twist. Not only does it play off the hinted-at-then-retconned blood relation between them in the original chronology, just...purely by this trailer, it could make SENSE. They look *alike*.

So... Simon is the son of Trevor, Who is the son of Gabriel, But Gabriel is Dracula, Which means that Trevor becomes Alucard? *mind explosion*

In lords of shadow 1 you play as Gabriel Belmont a "re-imagining" of Simon Belmont and somehow the father or grandfather of Trevor; whom you will be using in mirror of fate, is now the new Dracula of the revival of the Castlevania series.

We need Castlevania again, can't believe 11 years already passed , say what you want about lord of shadows franchise, the lore was amazing .

Games I've Played in the SNES days were Super Mario World, Contra III The Alien Wars, Super Castlevania IV, Super Street Fighter II, Road Runner's Death Valley Rally, Rampart, Mortal Kombat, Captain America and the Avengers, The Legend of Zelda A link to the Past, Beavis and Butthead, Super R-Type, Aero The Acrobat, and Castlevania Dracula X. Of course some of these games I had to get by with had to use a Game Genie especially with Contra 3 you wouldn't be able to make to level 5 on hard mode

Nintendo + Castlevania = Awesomeness It began with Nintendo and it will always be good with Nintendo.

I plan to get both. And exactly how much information has been given on New Super Mario Bros. 2 at this point anyway. They never reveal everything about video games until they are released.

Chronologically the family line goes Gabriel (Dracula), Trevor and then Simon. I think its meant be that each character is in a different time so you're all going after Dracula so first you're Trevor and he is defeated, then Simon comes to defeat Dracula to avenge his father (I don't know what will happen to him) and then you play as Trevor again but he is now Alucard because Dracula turned him into a vampire.

not father's. Combat Cross is a weapon created by Rinaldo Gandolfi. He made total three weapons - Gabriel's Combat Cross, Trevor's Combat Cross and Simon's Vampire Killer.

The only Castlevania Games your going to hear some of the Old BGM of Castlevania is in the Japanese Arcade Castlevania games such as Akumajou Dracula Pachislot and the Medal's I, II, and III. Which of course you cannot find on this hemisphere.

Well i love those metroidvania styles but my fav will always be Super Castlevania 4 for the Snes, the music, bosses and soundtrack even the game is superior than a lot of new castlevania games, i still listen to the Simon Belmont theme and it chills me as the first time

Played the first, second and third one as a kid on the NES, Super Castlevania IV, and Bloodlines, Symphony of the Night, Legends (Before they said it was non-canon), Both of the two N64 ones, Circle of the Moon (That was very Hard LOL), Chronicles (Good Times),, Harmony of Dissonance and my Favorite of them all Aria of Sorrow (Where we played Dracula's unsuspecting reincarnation Soma), Lament of Innocence (Good Origin story), Portrait of Ruin, Dracula x Chronicles, Ecclesia, Lords of Shadow,

I may have already said this but, this is what happens to games we grew up with when technology changes the way how we used to play them. And THAT is sad sometimes.

Exactly. The LOS continuity is completely separate from the original timeline. Like Amazing Spiderman and Ultimate Spiderman. This game will really be an alternate retelling of CV3: Dracula's Curse. Gabriel becomes Dracula. Dracula unknowingly had a son, Trevor. Trevor Belmont was given a piece of the Mirror which informed him & Sypha of his cursed destiny. He set off to face his father and disappeared. Sypha raised Simon. Simon pursues Dracula. Meets Alucard, who very well may be his father.

Alucard is also dracula's (Gabriel's) son, but he is from a different mother. At some point after Lords of Shadow's ending, Dracula would have had a child with another woman, and that would be Alucard. Simon and Trevor would be from Marie's bloodline.

I wonder which Belmonts we'll see in Lords of shadow 2... maybe were gonna go through the Mirror of Fate events but through Draculs perspective...

well consider this: he isnt. He is Alucard. he WAS Trevor. its all in how you interpret it. he could turn out to be alucard and Cox wouldnt be lying.

In all honesty, I like the old timeline better, where Leon Belmont was the first of the Belmont clan to hunt vampires and Mathias Cronqvist was Dracula, but I would like to give this Castlevania revival a chance and see how well these developers did in re-imagining the series.

This isn't a mess at all. You will play the game with 4 different characters and the game will jump to different time periods. You'll start with Trevor, maybe then Sypha (his wife) pursuing Trevor, Simon, and finally Simon will run into Trevor as Alucard. "I promise one thing, you will not be alone in this battle" or something like that. You will play as Alucard.

Big boss told snake in metal gear solid 4 (SPOILERS) that his cells are getting fixed up so he will have longer time to live, but it will most likely start aging and dying again, but in mgs4 he will survive for longer, room for some more mgs goodness and he wont die on us yet, but big boss is now dead. But the one featuring in ssbb is the clone I believe. But Simon has been dead since Simon's quest, I heard he made a return in castlevania 4 but I also heard that was a remake of something.

not exactly technicalities though. Trevor and Alucard might be VERY different personality wise, with Trevor being a loving father and Alucard being someone who does not care about anything but stopping his own father, etc.

i think Trevor Becomes Alucard, because when they introduced Trevor it said "Cursed by Blood", and when they introduce Alucard he says "Looks like Fate has given me a second chance...Father", hinting that Trevor becomes Alucard later in the game.

Trevor will become Alucard in Mirror of Fate. Both voices sounds similar and Alucard refers to his father as Gabriel. Trevor is Gabriel's unknown son. The story will start off with Trevor entering Dracula's castle and disappearing soon after. Simon will follow his father's footsteps and encounter Alucard who will explain that he was Trevor. Simon will inherit the combat cross and I'm not sure how Alucard will inherit the great sword. Maybe Sypha Belnades, Trevor's wife will be the 4th character.

On another note, I don't know if you've noticed this or not but you do notice that the main objective of Castlevania is to destroy Dracula, Right? but you do realize that in order to survive the battle of Dracula, you have to score points to gain a life or a level to defeat him otherwise you're going to be finding yourself struggling to beat the game. That was the whole Idea of the game Scoring Points, not just the objective. That's what made Castlevania from 1986-2011 fun.

I don't know about everyone else but i want to see another classic side-scroller linear Castlevania game like the first one.

Good point for that guy, but it doesn't explain how right before Alucard appears you hear a voice saying "Fate has given me another chance, father". I could be wrong, but maybe Dave Cox is fibbing to surprise us when the game finally comes out.

Try looking at it this way? The original Castlevania franchise ran its (glorious, glorious) course. Then other games came about that imitated what it had done, but with new technology - Devil May Cry, God of War, and all that followed after them owe a LOT to the Castlevania franchise. And now, Castlevania has simply reclaimed what was originally its own, bringing the modified game elements of what it originally did back to itself. It's a *respectful* reboot. And that's worth something.

Raximus3000 - In a very different way, it's very reminiscent of how the original Castlevania was conceived. The original Castlevania was not really initially created with a sequel in mind.

While this is true (and I thank you for pointing it out, since I hadn't thought of it) it still seems confusing for Gabriel Belmont to have a Scottish accent if he was raised in Romania, while simultaneously having a name that is drawn directly from one of the Romance languages. On the other hand, I don't recall if it's ever explicitly said that Gabriel *was* raised in Romania. Which would explain that whole issue neatly (expansions of the Order, perhaps).

I'm of that Generation too. I'm as old as the Nintendo Entertainment System. Took Me a while to get use to the Southpaw/Legacy layout found in Halo and Call of Duty but prefer Legacy over Southpaw any day, the Stylus and Touch Screen no problem, and the Nunchaku they came with ease

Trevor been Alucard makes senses in this new time line. I don't see Gabriel loving someone else beside Marie. I really like what Mercurysteam have done with the Castlevania series, let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

It a reboot a re-telling of the castlevania story and lords of shadow was beginning that's why alucard and trevor are the same

Marie is the Lisa of the Lord of Shadows universe as she without wanting to has become the reason of conflict between her husband (Gabe/Dracula) and her Son (Trevor/Alucard?). Feels messed up that he's willing to ice his own grandson and descentants, Gabe's become a Douche, way to respect Marie and Laura Sacrifice. Simon has the Vampire Killer Whip itself, Hopefully it will explain the VK Whips creation in the Lord of Shadows universe as well as show how Simon came across it.

I kinda agree with you. I think Gabriel's resolve in LoS just plain doesn't match up to how he would just abandon everything and become evil even if he were a vampire. He seemed to understand God's actions pretty well and his place as almost like a Christ figure who must bare the darkness all himself. MS could have made the story more concrete and palpable. Lament's problem though was we didn't get to see any other areas beside the castle. And castlevania was all about other locations.

Alucard and Trevor are companions in Castlevania III. If Trevor is Alucard then who is the Alucard that companion of Trevor? Alucard's Clone?

Lords of Shadow is an absolutely different canon from the original Castlevania. Different timeline, even different characters, as there IS no 'Gabriel Belmont' in the original setting.

Not entirely gone, this is an exclusive project that Mercury Steam has engaged to develop. It's like what GRIN did with Bionic Commando a while back. Fans that are also game developers. I'm sure that once LoS2 is out, Konami will return the series to the Iga production team. It would be silly if they just removed 20+ years of a franchise's history, including the original CV games on the NES. If anything, Lords of Shadow is going to be gone once it's finished. Too bad, I really admire the saga.

This is for you guys that are like me and wondering if the classic music will be in the game, producer Dave Cox has mentioned that some classic Castlevania music WILL be included in mirror of fate and LOS2. thank fuck is all I'll say as LOS music was ok but it's not a patch on bloody tears, Aquarius, beginning and so on. And they better have Simons theme!!!!

Why 'move forward' and 'try something new' if it was better as a 2d side-scroller? Trying new things doesn't necessarily mean moving forward, just as apple has kept the iphone based off the original, just added a few tweaks to it.

I guess it's true then, the Castlevania we've known and played on the NES, Gameboy, SNES, Sharp X68000, Turbo-Grafx 16, Sega Genesis, Playstation, Gameboy Color, Nintendo 64, Gameboy Advance, Playstation 2, XBOX, Nintendo DS, Playstation Portable, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, and XBOX 360 (Excluding Lords of Shadow) those were all products of the Akumajou Dracula Saga and this saga is gone now that Lords of Shadow has came into play.

But the lecture to Satan was before he heard that Marie wasn't ever coming back, and hearing that was the moment that the last of Gabriel's faith (that was already weakened as hell at the end of the game) was shattered, because he wouldn't be with Marie 'till he too would die, which would probably be when he was of very high age...

Trevor and Simon are in this game, everyone should buy it.

I wouldn't mind having Simon, but the fact that hes looooong dead will get under my skin, and it wont feel too comfy.

I know that, I know that Simon died of age, but the Belmont's continue the series, but if there was a character from castlevania that I would be okay with seeing ssbb it would be Alucard, but Simon would make most since since hes IN the early nintendo games, but I am not sure if Alucard is in it castlevania 1-4 please tell me if he was, if he was then I think it would be most comfy having him in the game instead of a deceased character.

Perhaps Konami and IGA wanted to turn Castlevania into a dueling game like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. I'm also noticing this in the voices of characters in Castlevania, how come they're not using the ADR Directors as well as the voices used in both the games and Anime made by ZRO Limit Productions, Bang Zoom! Entertainment, Geneon Entertainment, FUNimation Entertainment, and Viz Media. What happened to that?
