I always thought the support mechanic was a bit subtle in past Fire Emblem games. They've definitely made it more interesting now though :D

Finally completed the main story, the paralogues, and The Future Past xenologues after years and years of this sitting in my backlog. Getting every single unit in the game is the most satisfying thing in a game I have come across yet.

It's been a long time since I was hyped for a game as much as this.

I finally got the game yesterday, and I love it. I didn't know if they would make anymore after I played the GBA series years ago. The Sacred Stones was a big leap over the original with an overworld/map display, and Awakening is an even bigger leap over the two.

When you strengthen their bond they also might fall in love!!!

The new features to this Fire Emblem game are sure to make the franchise that much better. I'm glad that supports actually seem to do something for once. With PoR the supports pretty much only focused on back story for the characters. Then in RD it focused more on stat advantages than actual character depth. Here seems to be the best of both words and can't wait to see it succeed. :D

Ah, and I forgot to say, I live in Germany and Street Pass doesn't work very well here. Last week I were in Frankfurt, one of the biggest towns in Germany and I still got 0 street pass views... The PSP got more fans here I think.

Having units beside each other only supplies a support bonus. Putting them on the same square gives more bonuses to the lead unit, according to the secondary units class. Which doesn't happen when units are adjacent.

When they are paired up you can just move the pair as 1 unit. If they are separated you can move them to different places in 1 turn.

They also changed how support points increase. Instead of every turn, it's every time a unit is adjacent/paired up and they get attacked. Makes things so much easier.

Well i just heard news that everyone probably forgot about. The wonderful company Xseed who brought us The Last Story just announced an hour ago that Pandora's Tower is coming to North America in Spring of this year. As a Wii title.

Radiant Dawn is my favorite Fire Emblem and is my all time favorite game ever, but that is just me. I can see where people come from when they say they don't like it as much as the others, what with the support system and using different armies in certain levels, but it was the first one I have played, and I just love the story. I'm sorry you thought it was a let down, because I think it is amazing.

Pretty much, yeah. Think of it as a more along the lines of "Look For Mercy Elsewhere" mode. It's for those looking for the highest challenge and to test themselves if they can best it, naturally, it's not an easy feat.

Fire Emblem is now close perfect. The only thing I missed in all games were the "Free Battle" Option to train your units and gain money (I didn't played this demo so I'm sorry if they did it finally). The only thing I can remember was the arena in a stage, but it wasn't in all titles (only gameboy-based I think).

If you're on normal, you can turn off tutorials in the options. (It's called 'slide guides in the options menu) The reason you can't pair up on the demo is because in the full game the tutorial for pair up comes later, so it's locked until you do that tutorial if you have the tutorials on.

Thumbs up for the voiceover guy. He sounds very genuine.

Fire emblem plays entirely like a tactical game. The game brings rpg elements but is not truly an rpg. You play in a square grid system where you order your units to move but they have a limited amount of space to move each phase. If your really curious I recommend watching some gameplay of fire emblem the sacred stones to get a good picture.

If your talking about game cards, You dont need any fancy setup anymore to play different region game on 3ds just find one in your preffered language. they all work.

There are monsters called risen that show up on the main map. You can also fight random off of street pass.

Hmm, I had been aware that units could "combine" to become much more powerful, but it sounds like the existing support system has gotten a big boost, too, and now applies to a lesser degree to pretty much all your units. Interesting...

If you have a regular DS Lite than I recommend buying Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem:Sacred Stones which are for the GBA at Amazon. Radiant Dawn is for the Wii and if you have your memory cards. You can hook up your GCN memory card of Path of Radiance to transfer the stats over since the same characters are used there.

On the date the birthday each character has they will receive bonuses on there stats. the game will know its there birthday by checking on the 3ds internal calendar and time.

have fun only being able to hold 8-10 optional characters out of the 100 characters from previous games they let you choose from, yeah 3 save slots is looking pretty small right now... and depressing. Especially if you are thinking of recruiting from streetpass.

This is sure to be one of the best Fire Emblem games, if not the best

Well if both units are in the same square you can move both of them together. If they were just stading next to each other you could only move one unit. But in both cases they do the same i suppose is just about moving them together.

More so than what they already have. In Japan--alone--on September 20th of 2012? Fire Emblem Awakening's DLC pulled in 380 million yen and it equates around to 5 million US dollars. That was THEN. Imagine the income if those who get FE13 when it localizes decide buy the DLC?

There will be more support conversations than in any other existing FE.

This looks like a great way to make the Support system easier to use. It was really awkward to move characters next to each to reach the next support level when doing so was not always optimal for combat as they would be out of positions you need. I just hope the Pair Up system does not make the game too easy. It should burn both characters turns when you are initiating it, but infinite helping on counter attacks seems fine. Though it's out in Japan so I could find out myself.

Actually, you can get Ike through DLC and SpotPass. He won't have any effect on the plot, of course, but you can use him like any other unit.

The more I see this game, the better it looks I've been playing the FE games since FE6, and this looks like it has the best mechanics :)

I can't believe how many people are actually really excited for this game. I thought I was the only one that liked the Fire Emblem series.

I have to research all the new skills and find which relationships will be great for my playthrough. My brain's gonna burn learning it all but it will be worth it.

RNG Goddess Anna help us if they COULD. The enemy on Lunatic alone is able to cut swaths through your team, and that is WITH them leveled to insane heights (like going through 3 or more class branches and learning all those skills to help you). Mind you, they can use the infamous cry skills that boost stats, too. Not to mention they can carry their own forged weapons. Don't pair up? Expect to lose units like a gold fish loses it's memory.

I think it would be nice if the clerics, when paired-up would heal as their support attack.

If we get DLC characters, then we'll probably get Roy back. From what I've heard, he's one of the most requested characters for SSB4 in the Japanese forums for the Smash Bros. series. ... But if we can get 3 Starfox characters and 2 Mother/EarthBound characters, then I don't see why we can't get 4 Fire Emblem characters in the initial roster. I'd love to see Roy have some amount of relevance in the story mode and reference his absence from Brawl in a funny way.

Please Please PLEASE tell me Support Conversations are back! That's what I missed the most in Radiant Dawn and Shadow Dragon, having characters shooting the breeze, fall in love, and effect the epilogue at the end of the game. Without it my army feels a lot more empty.

I don't really think it's something to advertise to new players, but just to keep them playing. I remember my first Fire Emblem game, perma-death ticked me off, and I never let people die. I'm better now, but the new players can play casual through their first playthrough, then classic on their second.

We already have enough swordlocked Lords, don't you think? I'd be more interested in having the Avatar in the roster, swordplay and Thunder magic might make for an interesting concept.

They can't pair up/double. However, in harder difficulties, their weapons will be forged higher than the usual limit to make up for it.

This is going to make supports much more fun and easier to do. I had to do alot of grinding in Sacred Stones to get any supports >:(

FE7 is the first title released in the west and in my opinion it's the best. Awesome characters, awesome plot, awesome artwork and animations etc. Just brilliant. FE8: Sacred Stones runs on the same engine (as does FE6 if you can read Japanese...) and is an all-around great game too. Have to admit the Ike titles never quite grabbed me in the same way, but Awakening already has XD

and they are pretty detailed too. With all the care that has been given to the 3d models, it makes me wonder why they made the decision to not include the feet in them, it looks weird when you look at their legs.

I still play it. ;) And yes, it seems that the only thing for what they use the mic is blowing *cough*. The mose use of the mic I found till now was Mario Party. Blow, blow, blow, up and down.

There's always one with an incredibly depressing death quote that makes you go "Oh God, why!? Why did you end up dead!?" Then you reset and pretend that you never heard it. :P For my first playthrough, if a character dies, it'll stay like that (unless it's like a lord where I can't go further).

Thats how most FE games started ex. in Sacred Stones Seth was a beast that helped me grind everyone else up enough to be useful. btw Lunatic is the best way to get the full FE experience(in my opinoin of course).

I think the Fire Emblem your talking about is the seventh in the series. It was the first one released outside of Japan, and is for the GBA, which is what I assume you meant by Gameboy. Not exactly the original, but I highly recommend actually giving it a try if you have it. It's got an amazing story line. Just so you know, the original Fire Emblem was originally for the old Nintendo consoles. It was remade for the DS, and is known as Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon.

other than simply having all of them in their original forms, FE11 is a remake of the first game, while the stupidly un-localized FE12 is a remake of FE3 ( albeit without the Super Famicom version's remake of the original for obvious reasons )...I mostly want 6 ( for Roy's story ) and 12 ( for the continuation of Marth's story )

Sacred Stones for GBA is a nice title....its relatively easy compared to some of the other ones. If not play Blazing Sword (just Fire Emblem outside of Japan I believe) because its a bit longer and more satisfying unless you are bad and on Hard mode

For newcomers I recommend playing a demo version of this before buying it just to see how good the gameplay and the graphics are :)

ahhh wish you could pair up in the demo, beat the demo 4 times and about to up the difficulty to see what happens. Usually hate this style of game but dammit nintendo this be fun. glad demo was release so i could finally see what i've been missing.
