I hope they take note from clash of clans and make everything cost exponentially more to speed up, so I can challenge myself financially and finally spend $5000 on a single farming game
Sony is going in a bold direction with no farming rpgs on the roster. It really is a shame to see them so out of touch with the wants and desires of gamers.
I remember seeing a comment saying "They didn't show the title for Tears of the Kingdom during the UK direct because the Queen had just died." Which honestly is just the most coincidental thing I've ever heard when it comes to naming a videogame.
Well Pikmin can be considered a Farming game if you think about it hard enough. Link was also a farmer at the beginning of twilight princess so we got the full blown farming direct experience
I kinda think that Game Devs loved the idea of Farming Sims because of the impact Animal Crossing had when the pandemic hit, and it has created a small surge of similar simulation games that aren't story-driven or lore-heavy, similar enough to other games like Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons(Harvest Moon), Minecraft, The Sims where there isn't a lot of finality in choices or severity in them, being more Chill and Relaxing, rather than ominous and intimidating. Also WTF do we have to complain and make comparisons, it's like that old argument that Playstation and Xbox are for "Real Gamers" and that Nintendo make "Kiddie Games". It's so bizarre to see something similar to that resurfacing a bit. We should just celebrate the fact that a lot of great games have released this year a few lot more will release in the next few months before the year ends. I kinda hate it this Sony vs Nintendo since I love both and the games they have even if I can't afford both a Switch and a PS4 nevermind the fact that it seems that there is a shortage of PS5 stock.
@@harveycustodio2625 Nintendo has enough superfans to be self sustaining at this point and there is less pressure to maximize sales to the more general gaming audience.
@@m.f.3347 sorry, i don't mean to be rude, just curious: maybe you got confused? the 10 year old re-releases were like the ones in NSO Expansion pack and Fatal Frame, the rest are remakes, ports from recent releases and upcoming releases..
Best part about this is that they announced pikmin in that direct. You know.... The game where you fight by effectively pulling plants out of the ground.
The second time they announced a farming simulation game in that direct I was like “Huh. What an odd genre of game to get 2 games announced in one direct”. And then it happened 4 more times.
I love to think that all of these games began development while stardew valley had it's peak success, and now they're showing them all at the same time because they simultaneously had the genius thought of "what if it was anime?" and the games are finally ready to be showcased
Well no Harvest Moon has been getting games since the 90s and Stardew Valley is directly inspired by it and Rune Factory, the original rpg dating sim farming sim that is actually a fantastic game and everyone should play
@@alexenglish2240 i am aware, i didn't say stardew valley invented this genre of videogames, i'm saying that it feels like some developers tried to capitalize on it's success
For Bigmode’s first game they publish it should definitely be along the lines of a farm simulator, from market research it seems to be the fastest growing game genre.
Real target audience is the Moms. Switch is unused while kids are at school, but Moms over dropping hundreds on Farmville. Nintendo, embracing that M.I.L.F. life.. Mom, I'd like to farm.
my favorite part of the Nintendo direct was that it was alternating square enix games and farming games until it finally culminated into a square enix farming game
Squeenix churns out too many game, generic games, for Dunkey's claims about AI to be false. Seriously, that studio is huge, but there are other, bigger companies that spew less. And they don't care one bit about any of it. If you develop a game with a story, you have places and people and events in place that you could use to inspire a thematic title, but they go with dumb shit like "Triangle Strategy." Cuz yeah, it's about something but they don't know or care what it is.
As a farmer, I appreciate the fact that on my limited time off during the day I can sit back and play a farming video game and immerse myself in farming because that defines me. ~Farmson Farmington the third.
I, for one, am fucking hyped to have an actual heartfelt remaster of A Wonderful Life. I spent a whole Summer without that disc leaving my GameCube and never got past the second year. I cannot WAIT to actually progress in it as an adult with understanding and focus.
I know, could've easily just been straight into Pikmin 4, and then right at the end be like "Oh, and here's a new Pikmin mobile experience we've been working on". Woulda been way better. They just pulled a Blizzard with Diablo.
Are you happy now, Dunkey?! Do you see what you've done, Dunkey?! Clearly Nintendo watched your Splatoon 3 video two days ago and became aware that Octopus Traveler didn't have any octopuses in it, and now they're making Octopus Traveler 2 and they won't let us have any Zelda until we all play it and comment on how many octopi it has. Thanks a lot, Dunkey!!
No, no, no. Don’t act like those two genres are equal. You can get a real job in real life. I can’t shoot demons in the head in real life and chop their heads off with swords.
What makes this farming game presentation even better is that Harvest Moon 64 was also announced for the Switch’s Virtual Console in Japan on the same day.
Frankly I don't think they care that much about the names. Not to mention the Times New Roman titles being practically identical in terms of logo design make more sense when you think of them as the same series
It was hard not to notice the insane number of farming games in the Nintendo Direct, but the even stranger thing was that most of them were from Square Enix
I can't wait for Kazuya to say "you know what guys I'm kind of tired with all this fighting. I'm going to go set up a farm." And the rest of the game is just farming.
I say this with all honesty... I never laughed so hard while watching the same video twice in 3 different occasions but still laughing my ass off - note it was 2 before and I watched it again and its still the funniest shit I have seen
Due to the upcoming global food shortage, Nintendo has got the ball rolling by making everyone who plays on their consoles subconsciously accept the farming lifestyle to come. Excellent work as usual.
@@minerman60101 lol what are you on about? Ukraine isn’t even #1 in wheat export, that would be China. Us europens are only going to have a gas crisis and lack of resources to warm ourselves, thats it.
@@wistfulanthophila9317 there's a fertilizer shortage that got made way worse by the war in Ukraine, Russia produces a large amount of products that are vital to make it like potash, we could see yields drop by 50%
You joke, but if there is not a mechanic for improving your relationship with Zelda after finally saving her, I'm going to give the game only 9.9/10 so help me God.
I felt the exact same way about this entire direct, but that gasp at the end... that was me doing that. I missed out on botw when it came out and I'm gonna try to play it now despite the fact that I'm not good at video games, but even then i still get hype for new games
i actually laughed out loud, like there's no way they announced more farming games right? what a rollercoaster. just when you think that's it they announce another one edit: nintendo had the better direct by a lot. the suspense actually had me sitting at the edge of my seat. "is it going to be another farming game?!", "there's no fucking way " totally stole the show. just when i thought it was over, always. never felt more alive
what's happened here is just like the year we got like 5 soulslikes and the year we got seventeen roguelikes. All of the slow developers have finally finished their starview valley-likes (including disney)
@@Highstar25 I was thinking it was a response to animal crossing doing so well at the start of 2020. 2-3 years of development. But I guess that doesn't have farming besides flowers and crap.
@@Crimsonwtf ikr, how dare people think about their favorite creators. actually so pathetic of them, they should just have no thoughts and sit in a land of silence
The next Nintendo console is actually a huge departure. It is specifically designed for farming simulators, this direct is a hint of the direction Nintendo is going in the future.
I liked that they showed off the new farming mechanics of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I really think that this is unexplored territory for Nintendo, introducing farming as a whole extra side game to a portable platform such as the Nintendo Switch is a smart move to step in on an entirely untapped market.
For most of the Direct the focus was on farming games and Square JRPGs, but when they showed the farming JRPG developed by Square that was when they really caught my attention.
So glad to see that Nintendo has finally given us the farming, fishing, and town simulation gameplay that only completely obscure games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing have done up until now. Truly an innovation in the field of pre-2016 gameplay.
Really looking forward to God of War: Ragnarok. I was surprised that the devs decided to go with the very niche genre of action game. It’ll be hard for Kratos to compete with all these quality farm life simulation RPGs. I respect that bold design choice. A lesser developer would have chosen the safe option and gone with a God of War farm life simulation RPG. Although, narratively it would be difficult for God of War to go down the popular route of farm life simulation RPG. I’m pretty sure Kratos has murdered quite a few harvest gods / goddesses.
