So, I just recently got the demo, and I must say,even though I felt that feeling on certain occasions in the past games, the Objection theme makes you feel like every time you point your finger, a surge of power and justice just surges through. I know that makes me sound nerdy, but it's true! IT'S SO SATISFYING! So Capcom, I applaud you. *Applause*
They add a few optional gesture controls, it's set up with the two screens stacked in the center with a Phoenix Wright border on the sides. It plays about the same as the original, though you're stuck in one place.
laracat0801 I think fifty shades of grey and dark humor jokes are the least of the ESRB's worries when ((MAJOR SPOILERS STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANNA BE SPOILED FOR THE FINAL EPISODE)) a little girl is being accused of murdering her own mother then attempting to disembody the corpse, all while a witness's flashback shows said little girl covered in blood giving the player a sadistic grin. Yeah, that's the kinda thing that SKY ROCKETS ratings into SPACE.
Oh yeah. I remember getting goosebumps and spooked when I got there. SPOILER: Also that dodgy "Phantom" being murdered by an unknown sniper in "court". But like I said, I just listed the other things to watch out other than all that blood in case 5. Haha that pun
1:33 I get chills every time the Objection theme kicks in. The only game coming out this year that I'm looking forward to more than this one is Zelda Link Between Worlds. So hyped.
Not to mention that I've seen some of the content in the later portions of the game and...let's just describe it, for the sake of not spoiling stuff, as, things you wouldn't expect to see in a Ace Attorney game. And that this is defiantly the darkest and most violent game in the series so far.
It's actually common for an Ace Attorney title to be regarded as violent. Thanks to advancements in the Nintendo handheld hardware scenes which are usually just black and white photos of a bloody corpse can now become full anime cutscenes of someone being stabbed or strangled to death. Trust me, beyond the jokes, giggles, and Gumshoe moments the Ace Attorney has its dark sides.
I run android too. Aside from a few Capcom titles, we aren't missing much. Alternatively, they have ports for the first three games on the Wii Shop Channel for $10 each (Case 5 of Ace Attorney may or may not be sold separately for $1).
Especially now that it's coming just as a eshop release instead of a proper boxed version, they should maximize the sales and have the dual audio option there. Subtitles and original top class voices would've been anyway cheaper than hiring new voice actors. I hope there's at least a "hard of hearing" subtitles option so I can mute the cutscenes.
It doesn't sound to different to his objections, but it's kind of hard to tell when the only voice we got is him screaming... All the same, it sounds like I could really grow to love the voice acting with a little time.
Not sure how I feel about that voice for Phoenix. But I would learn to love it if there was an actual PW anime... Alas. And it would work so well. Also, I super miss the Feys as sidekicks.
The Phoenix Wright games were always pretty mature They had dark themes with some jokes thrown over the top The only difference I can assume is that now it's in 3D
Capcom hopefully still does with Gyakuten Saiban 5 what Squenix confirmed will do with Bravely Default when that comes to USA and Europe. Dual audio awesomeness.
Well if you just need it for your shelf, capcom's at least released box art for it. You could pin up KI:U's reverse art as a poster and slip the PW:DD cover in it's place.
Ben Judd was a Capcom staff member, not a trained and experienced voice actor. It likely wouldn't have sounded that great, thus the recasting of returning characters in a game with actual voiced narrative.
Yeah, without further evidence, M seems a bit harsh, though apparently the ESRB is the most effective of US content rating systems. I do have to question their sanity at times though, their description of Scribblenauts one involves such wonderful phrases as "steak can be attached to a baby to attract lions." XD
@scott suckow the reason why Capcom made this game only digital is because they need to save money because there going bankrupt, but you can buy this game on GameStop and they will give you a code.
The demo was fun. I will be getting this game once I can afford it. Started to get into the Ace Attorney series. Recently ordered Apollo Justice. Looking forward to playing it.
Well, I tested the Japanese version while on vacation there this summer and the original voices are just so much more professionally done. And fit the game also so much better. I really hope Capcom would make original voice track + subtitles as an option. Then everyone would get their wanted option. Dubbing and original.
Basically, you play Defense Attorney Pheonix Wright (and co.) and try to get your clients acquitted through a justice system that seems to run on "guilty until proven innocent." You do so by questioning and pointing out contradictions in the (lying) witness testimonies, and by roaming around investigating the crime in question. It's sort of like a point and click adventure game.
Am I the only one not bothered by the transition to Digital only? Yeah, it does suck for areas without WiFi, but here it means they will probably (eventually) lower prices. That's why Steam is able throw %25-75 stickers like confetti.
Why would you be surprised? If you think about it, it's obvious the rating would go up considering a lot of the more violent content in the previous games were made less violent by the DS's limitations. ESPECIALLY considering the first three games were GBA ports. It makes sense that this one would have more graphic content. I don't get why people are so shocked. It kinda makes sense that, with them moving to a 3D style and the 3DS, that the graphical violence would increase somewhat.
It looks like its going to be digital only. At least that's what the eShop says. But hey, its way cheaper than the games they sell on the eShop that have a physical distribution.
Please make this a physical release as well, Nintendo. If there is any company out there that knows the value of physical copies, it's you guys. I believe in you. :)
They're making too may damn video game franchises darker to warrant an M-rating to games that are usually rated T; Tomb Raider, Lord of The Rings, Star Wars, etc.
From what I understand, the rating wasn't intentional on Capcom's part. It just BARELY got an M due to slightly darker themes and the better graphics making one of the crime scenes a bit too realistic. If there's a sequel, they'll probably pull it back to T.
I was sure they wouldn't release this outside Japan, it's been long since I've been this excited for a game! I was a bit sceptical about the 3D they put in, but after playing the demo I'd say it still feels like a Phoenix Wright game to me. I will definetily buy this the second I can!
i hear a similarity, but i do remember now that liam's voice is naturally deeper, i just thought that liam raised the pitch of his voice is all. I knew sam did UMvC3 but he sounds different there than he does here to me. so i guess that's why i got so confused (:|)
I would. But I already bought Apollo, and I can't afford to get the first ones just yet. Mostly because I also got Layton and the Miracle Mask as well.
I realize this, but nintendo is releasing it on their console, it wouldn't be out if nintendo didn't let it out on the 3ds. however I realize I am wrong for saying nintendo rather than Capcom, but I said it because of the surplus of games coming out on both consoles.
Subtitles. I played the demo and didn't like the voices that much. They weren't horrible, but since this is a very anime inspired game crazy japanese voices just fit it. And it's the original.
yeah I went crazy like a fan girl I did after hearing that news because I never knew SEGA was ever never in my life was going to one and my dreams came true ^^

After seeing and hearing both and comparing, the original just is much more superior and fits the game better in my opinion. It's a bit like what Level 5 did with Inazuma Eleven 1&2 on DS, the originals were better in quality there also and contained more stuff in the game as well.
No. They rated it because the crimes would look way more realistic than the DS (which is actually all just from GBA) and I think there's a very brutal crime in this one. But really, the first game got 7+ from PEGI and I don't think Gregory Edgeworth's death scene is for kids, and neither is Neil Marshall's.
