I assume unplugging the USB would notify a central surveillance in their local network, and everything is on camera as well. I wouldn't even try, because I fear alarm would go on and entire room changes to a boss fight with Bowser in real world.
If the only difference is the disc vs no disc, then there is not much of a reason. But I think the discless version comes "probably" as a better deal with 1 or 3 months of Game Pass. Or people think they don't buy discs anymore anyway, and could use the 50 Dollar (or in some regions even more expensive) to buy multiple indie games or a AAA game. No idea, but cheaper is always better for some. Also on Series X lot of games require internet connection anyway, either to activate the game or download it because disc does not contain game. For many its just a mess and not even worth. Just some thoughts to why people lean towards the disc less version.
@@thingsiplayoh man…… no. No one read that and the correct answer is to reject disc less consoles. I haven’t come across one of those games you say require internet on my series x😂😂😂😂
@@Look-at-the-ghost Because you are not aware of does not mean it doesn't exist. Lot of games from Microsoft wouldn't play without activating them through internet. Some games aren't even on the disc or require part to be downloaded to be playable. Halo Infinite comes to my mind, but many other games are too. If you didn't read my reply, why do you answer it then? If you don't care to read, then I don't care reading your replies too, as it is waste of time. Some people also don't want to deal with discs at all. They take room, you have to switch them all the time, and they are inconvenient. Prices aren't often cheaper anyway. There are reasons why people might choose over the cheaper discless version, because they don't care about the disc.
Obviously, but I think people are just pissed cause of Yuzu/Ryujinx being taken down. Can't blame em but eventually Nintendo will stop caring about the Switch and emulation will come back and they won't care to take those emus down.
@@NecroBanana People need to remember what the law says though. Both Yuzu and Ryujinx were guilty of acquiring money for their software, whether through donation, patreon or other means. If you want a legal emulator, DON'T ACCEPT MONEY.
@@NecroBanana Not really taken down just not being updated and shared publicly. Devs were making money they shouldnt have so Nintendo cut that funding supply off.
@@SuperSikarloLmao, this is the easy, copout sentiment. Hilarious how people think the devs behind things like Yuzu is 100% innocent. Think objectively. Yuzu’s devs were providing a way for people to circumvent Nintendo’s DRM and more on top of providing the emulator. As a result, Nintendo was protecting their sales numbers (their legal right to protect their bottom line) by getting rid of explicit infringement of their rights. Had Yuzu not done any of this, the emulator would very likely still exist.
Then they should make all their games available from all generations. If they want privacy to get cut down, make them purchasable either thru the switch or make their own Nintendo PC launcher.
Nintendo has been using emulators in their products for decades... the Museum was not gonna be any different. They clearly don't hate emulation... only who is using the emulator is what they have issue with, "Y'all are dirty thieves... yes even the innocent ones"
Exactly, lets be honest people majority of people who do emulation are going to pirate stuff. I understand people getting angry with Nintendo, but it's just a way of showing people how to access to free stuff. End of the day Nintendo are a business first.
@@ravenebony2267they absolutely hate emulation if they aren't the ones controlling it. People are allowed to use emulation though. Just like you can play roms legally. What's illegal is distributing it for a profit. But if you already own the games but prefer to be digital you have every right to just emulate it. It's how I play switch games. I went as far as selling my switch. I buy the game, copy it with my mig switch, then I put the physical on my shelf and play on my PC or legion go.

@@helixnebulaone I think this whole argument is stupid and overblown like a lot of anti-Nintendo talking points, but that guy kinda has a point: a few years ago, some first-party ROMs on VC had suspicious headers that seemed to point to being cracked/pirated ROMs rather than original untouched files. It wasn't confirmed and it's not fully clear because there isn't enough evidence, but it is a possibility. Plus, other studios have lost their own source code, assets, etc., and have had to rely on online ROMs to create ports and things like that. Interesting how tough preservation is on the inside too, though some studios just straight up destroy their old work once it's done lol.

I feel like people forget or purposely don't mention how bad pirates are on the Switch, considering that every new game gets leaked a week ahead of time. That's the one major problem that people deliberately avoid talking about. People keep saying they are trying to preserve games, but how are you preserving something that haven't release yet?
I don't agree with pirating recent releases, but Switch is by far Nintendo's most popular console in recent times. I don't think Switch piracy has impacted their growth all that much.
True, but that cpuld apply for many other games. If the Switch didn't have such levels of piracy to begin with, you know Nintendo would still be clamping down just as hard on piracy regardless.
@CarbonMalite If you haven't been aware, almost every game that has come out on switch in the last 2 years has been pirated. It may not affect their sales, but it effects their marketing and we all know that the first publicity on anything can make or break a product regardless of its actual quality.
Dolphin serves all my needs except for one game. We need a modern port of the Rogue squadron trilogy, and hopefully, disney can force them to bring it to PC.
So Eurogamer went and turned off most of the options like Bonus Stars.... then complained that they didn't have the benefits of those options. I know you can't spell ignorance without IGN, but Eurogamer is certainly trying.
I mean, it's kinda thickheaded to not know that Nintendo hasn't developed their own emulators over the years. Now if only they went back to the old ways of the Wii/3DS show where you could, I dunno, buy their classic games outright instead of hiding them behind an online service.
Allegedly, the Virtual Console was highly unprofitable, and that's why they changed it to a suscription. I only remember reading an article about it a few years ago, so no source unfortunately.
I wouldn‘t mind that they only make these classic games available through an online service subscription… if they actually had the same catalogue as Virtual Console. The selection of games on NSO is just so much smaller. As a wise man once said: „Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem.“ If I can‘t play the games I want to play that I played on Virtual Console through their current NSO service and the only other option is paying hundreds of dollars on ebay for a second hand copy (and that money wouldn‘t go to Nintendo anyway), then of course I‘m going to pirate. And it‘s even more of a problem in the digital era now. With the 3DS and WiiU eshop closed, so much digital only content is lost. Even if you buy a second hand copy of a 3DS game you can‘t access its DLC anymore for example.
Nintendo fans take the criticisms too literally. When people say they're "anti emulation" they're referring to COMMUNITY efforts, not the concept itself. They've been after the emulation community hard the last few years and it's made people angry. So yeah they have an anti-emulation stance, and it's ok to say that without needing the PostScript "I know they use emulation themselves"
Okay I'm the first guy who hates it when Nintendo attacks emulators as someone who contributed to emulation, but every single person who says Nintendo is hypocritical are very much just doing hyperbole, we knew since 2017 that Nintendo had the SNES Mini/NSO emulator running on Windows. If you didn't hear about it, it's just because any dev who looked at it were not surprised and because well... it's not important. Check every replay data files in the SNES Mini and you'll find the mention of "Canoe Win32" (Canoe is the name of the SNES emulator). The only reason why people are saying "hypocritical" (aside from clearly not knowing the definition) is just because they want the higher moral ground, they wanna sound more objective, more matter of fact. When Nintendo says they're against emulators, you freaking know very well what they're actually talking about let's not actually dodge that fact. That doesn't make them hypocrites, I dare say it's one of the most consistent things they have in terms of positioning on unofficial emulation. If your problem is just that Nintendo has emulators running on Windows, then stop pretending to know how development and programming works. And I will repeat this because I totally think people do not know how to read: I am against Nintendo attacking unofficial emulation. I literally worked on some of those.
Kinda crazy how they complain about it and call them hypocrites they've always been using emulators most companies do The difference is that they own the fucking ip's and games And you're pirating their shit for free 😭
@@BlazeBluetm35Those people are the vast minority. Most people just download roms, not to mention a lot of these Retro Handhelds come preloaded with roms.
It’s about piracy, not pure emulation. Why do they go after switch emulation then? Well, 99% of the time, it’s used for pirating current games so if they can find a way to do it, they’ll try to shut it down. Are they going after SNES emulators? No, they’ve been available for decades.
@@uncario probably means a refund for the free emulator. lmao. the piracy-defenders will of course claim, it's all about the honorable cause of preservation, which they can't do later, it must be done for the current platform. :P
I do think that this is true. I've only played Ghost of (on PS4). It's got an okay soundtrack. It's only alright, but it's far too forgettable compared to some of Sony's back catalog. There's something lacking in many of these modern OST's, they focus far too much on atmosphere rather than melody. You can't remember/hum more than one or two of them. (These modern game mechanics have a similar problem but it's not as easy to identify or explain).
Sony wants you to buy movie-like games, only. I think they're embarrased about their video game history. They don't want to be seen as a toy company, like Nintendo. Which is ironic.

Nintendo hasn't gotten other emulators shut down, just Ryujinx and Yuzu. I think people need to remember. YOU CAN'T ASK FOR MONEY FOR YOUR EMULATOR. Both either accepted donations or had a patreon. Nintendo aren't against emulation used in good faith, so I don't get why it's embarrassing. They even have access to Yuzu and Ryujinx and can use them how they see fit going forward. People really try hard to weaponise anything against them, that's what's embarrassing.

It was not a very successful technique-to pay people to sit on their ass, hoping they’d quit.
It's not about emulation. And it's not about piracy either. Nintendo wants control. The legality doesn't matter to Nintendo and never has. They don't want you playing their games unless it's on their terms. Same with RU-vid. They only reluctantly let people start using their games in videos and even then it's not unlimited use.
So, Yuzu's case had an interesting argument. They were arguing that as owner and creator of the IPs they have the right of picking the time and place where they want to publish them. So the question is if these emulators are basically "publishing" these games and Yuzu certainly looks like it is.
Uh no. Me and millions of others prefer than and like them. I like to see what people on their profile have completed and I like to see want I’ve done in game. Without it’s pointless
I don't get the "embarrassing" aspect that people talk about. What's embarrassing about what Nintendo's doing there? Using internally developed emulators on a computer and running them there? Oooooh the horrors ooooooh. Like c'mon people. You really think that people that claim that they care game preservation REALLY care about preservation? .....no. Most people that do emulation don't, never did, and still don't care about it, they're fakers that lie through their teeth, and just use emulation to commit theft instead of actually buying a game beforehand and then dumping it to a computer. Piracy is still theft just as much as stealing a physical good from any store, and no matter what you think about a corporation whether you love them or despise them so much that they prevent you from sleeping properly at night, you shouldn't steal from them and use emulation for actual good reasons rather than using them for petty theft or malicious intentions like trying to profit from things that you don't own. I totally get pirating something if said product isn't officially available anymore and there's not any official way to access it, but if a product is easily accessible on both physical retailer and digital storefront, then that's where piracy becomes bad.
Even so but it’s still hypocrisy. They tell us not to do it but they’ve been doing it for years. I love Nintendo but they are 100% hypocrites. So sure without seeing the true behind the scenes it just seems like its on a pc, but i doubt theyre using open source emulators vs their own in house.
Another issue with GameCube on NSO is how NSO works. NSO doesn't work like Capcom Arcade Stadium, where you just download the hub and then whatever games you want to play. No, you download every game available with the app. It's a package deal. You can't really do that with GameCube games because the file size is too big, especially for the Switch's paltry default size.

It’s Nintendo’s IP. The problem they have with unlicensed emulators is that they tend to be distributed without legal permissions, and tend to distribute Nintendo IP illegally. Nintendo can do what they like with their own IP. Why is this so hard to understand?

Nintendo is not against emulators (otherwise they would go against all emulators). Nintendo is only against piracy. While emulation is not piracy, it makes piracy very easy. If Nintendo can stop emulation of current gen, then they would get rid of huge chunk of piracy as well. Before I get accused again, no, I don't own a Nintendo console anymore. I play all Nintendo games from 80s to todays Switch on emulators and I pirate them. Just this year alone I started and finished both Zelda games on Yuzu. But I recognize that Nintendo is just against piracy and not emulators in general. Nintendo doesnt even care about old nintendo games like n64, gamecube etc. Only the switch and wii u, but wii u was already shutdown so they won't care now.
You know trophies are pretty dumb, nfl2k5 would give you a pad and when you would complete the achievements you could use those achievement points to purchase things to put in your pad. That was 20 years ago and was better and showed more effort than trophies.
If Nintendo weren't awful people and the prices weren't this high too. I would probably buy a Switch. But the way Nintendo is fighting against their own community (like attacking RU-vidrs or game mods) and while maintaining those high prices, I won't pay them money. If Nintendo allows me to play Switch games on emulators, then I'll happily buy a Switch and games to play them the way I want. But if that is no longer legally possible, then I will do it illegally. It's Nintendo's own fault.
I really hate how they make games locked behind subscription without any option to buy the game separately. Nintendo did this with their classics on the Switch and now Sony is following suit. Subscription should be optional, not a requirement!
