So I wanted to make this comment as I feel it's something I should've done more research on before uploading the video. Yuzu had instructions on basically how to pirate totk before its release, thats example that I'll use for when it came to those instructions. I believe they were meant for emulation, but you know, people used them differently if so. I do think that Nintendo could've made yuzu legally required to remove the instructions rather than taking them down altogether, but I do understand where Nintendo is coming from.

You could pay to easily get access to it but there being a "paywall" is a straight up lie lmao They folded quickly because they had no budget. Nintendo is multi billion dollar company, yuzu devs their only source of income is the patreon. I'm getting sick and tired of everyone advocating for the multi-billion dollar company who literally cites fake websites to add to their claims (nintendo sited a fake piracy site to support their argument). Yuzu literally is just emulation software, nothing more nothing less. They didn't sell keys, they didn't sell games, you'd have to dump all of those by yourself.
One day, my consoles will stop working. One day, companies will either shut down or be bought by another. There are games that are owned by companies that no longer exist. These games will not come back due to licensing. If I want to play these games, but my console stops working, I can never play this game again. This is why I turn to emulation. The games also run better AND with older consoles not being supported anymore, I don't have to sell my house for a console replacement (that will likely die shortly after that) from some online scalper. Sure, the small handful of people pirating games seem to be ruining it for the rest of us, but not all of us use emulators for that purpose. I'd rather have emulation around for the majority to be happy than to remove it because the minority are being nefarious. I'm not a fan of getting access to a game before release date, but I can only control myself. However, I will not pay for content I do not find value in.

This topic is far more nuanced than "piracy bad" or "Nintendo bad". Yes the idea of game preservation is vital and obviously nintendo is doing a terrible job at that, emulation is a good way to achieve so, but at the same time....people are playing Tears of the Kingdom BEFORE the release as well as spreading spoilers all over. No matter how you spin that, it is unethical and unjustfiable as that is just pure piracy, not game preservation. Yuzu also fucked up when they start charging people on Patreon to get the latest version. You lost the battle the second you start charging people for your products. Yuzu were also actively updating and patching their emulators to run brand new releases on day one...which also means there's a good chance that the yuzu devs have some form of illegal rom dumping data and tools to achieve it, not to mention do so ALSO advocates piracy and hurts Nintendo's sales. I am on the side of game preservation but when you start fucking with companies and their sale figures...you messed up. Edit: Also slight reminder than Nintendo is one of the few companies where their CEO actively reduces their own salary to pay their employees and reduce the need to layoff. Nintendo is a shitty company for consumers...but they are far better than most in the industry (Like EA)
Ive had a switch since launch and all i did was beat Mario Odyssey and probably about 5 hours of other games. Why would I even want to play anything from a company that hates me.
Because I pay money and for the games and also own a switch yet they try to pretend people like me do not exist in their "justification" of taking down emulators. They also were the company that you had to ask for permission to play there games on video. They want total control over the games that you and I own even after money has been exchanged and we legally own the games. They say emulation stifles innovation as if they don't use emulators at all. You cant call Nintendo idoots when the Yuzu guys were charging money for updates. They were legit charging people for fixes to ToTK BEFORE the game launched. This is entirely on the Yuzu team for being greedy

I havent seen Nintendo take down any of their other emulators, and we've had working versions of everything from the DS-Wii U when those were the current consoles on the market......you ever stop to think why that is?
@@rdowgYuzu made it possible to play leaked games before release date for a price. Other emulators cost money to play, so why are they not being targeted? Nintendo is also full of idiots for various reasons. This is but just one. I will give that Yuzu allowing leaked content to be played and hiding it behind a paywall was scummy enough to deserve being sued. However, DKOldies is just as scummy and yet not being sued. Why go after only the things that make people happy and leave the situations that piss people off to continue scamming people? Nintendo picking their battles makes them idiots as well.
fwiw, I always used legitimate copies of my own cartridges. Terrible to see yuzu (and especially citra imo) go like this. I’d been using my steam deck for better ergonomics as the switch starts to hurt my hands after about 15 minutes :(

Don't worry about the stream of thought, I actually quite appreciate it. I didn't realize the thing about music. I've always kind of been like "Oh, I like." "I could put that as a background to kind of keep people invested." I've never really thought about how that could have negative effects on the viewing experience. And for my volume settings, I would really like to get a mic one day. I had my eyes set for at2020. It's like $90 on Amazon, but I was a little worried it wouldn't work with a phone since that's what I use. But would the mics you mentioned work with a phone USB port? @@haogaboon I've used the Novox I mentioned on my Galaxy Note 9 with a USB-C -> USB-A dongle that was included in the box, I no longer have it so I don't think I can test if it works with other phones I have around, but all of them happen to be Samsung atm, so one question remains, does Android just support this, or is it Samsung and their OneUI features, unless You're using an iPhone, then it should be quite easy to find on Reddit or some forums, if not just straight up in Google Oh and if You go for Novox NC-1, there are two models, new one and legacy and legacy is easly better value if not product overall, but since it's legacy it's no longer beeing made so idk if You'll find a new one in Your country, but there is also Spc Gear Sm900 SPG026 and it's just a re-branded legacy NC-1
the yuzu devs were doing a ton of sketchy things that other emu devs don't do. This is a very different case. People actually need to do their research on this one.
@DuneDudeNG they still received money in exchange on work to get unreleased games working. They couldve had the whole thing compiled in the free version and it still wouldnt matter, they accepted cash directly for their work on it

Well to answer your question about can you pirate games yes buy it was mainly used for preservation and acted as a sort of guarantee that the gym you bought will forever be yours which I think is very important as well as modding and upscalling and just a general proformence boost like I own Tears of the Kingdom on my switch and when I put it on a beefy pc it won't from barely hitting 50 fps to getting a stead 120 fps as well as boosted graphics it cranked that thing to max and it looked 3x as good as on the switch! I think is was a hug L on Nintendos part as a user of yuzu this is vary sad but I have the latest version and I'm planning on still using it go forward as well hundreds of angry fans of yuzu are banding together too keep updating it as we speak there of four teams of coders and none coders learning and setting up a copy of yuzu that they can add on to I my self and think of joining in because I'm a skilled coder my self and I am all for sending a big FUCK You Nintendo by helping!
Hope that works out for you. I think nintendo had a problem with how yuzu had instructions that eventually led to tears of the kingdom being emulated before it was even released. @@haogaboonwell tears of the kingdoms game files were leaked before the game was officially launched but yuzu could not emulate it because the dev didn't even have the game yet and they don't pirate stuff so what happened was people took yuzu and made a mod for it so it could run tears of the kingdom before launch and then people started pirating it. yuzu never intended there software being used to pirate the game before launch and then Nintendo sees there game being pirated and emulated using yuzu and says it must be yuzu and slaps them with a lawsuit and there argument is that yuzu made it to were people where able to pirate the game before launch which is completely false also there wasn't one million people pirating there game there is just no way I call bullshit! but hey man I appreciate you reading this even though you don't agree with it you have a great one 💕
I know that has nothing to do with emulation. That was just an example of how Nintendo always seems to have negatives with positives, like how they've been so successful with the switch to where it will eventually outsell the ps2 possibly. Just kind of a Segway of sorts into how shutting down yuzu isn't really a positive.
He's not wrong though. When Nintendo implemented the Switch Online service it's still trash to this day. Multiplayer is garbage and the classic games they offer is such a short list compared to wii and wii u. Also you actually OWNED the classic games you bought on those systems.
It's one thing to not want emulators to be a thing (even though there's legal precedent for claiming reverse engineering is not illegal), honestly it's just sad that in a few years, there may be 1000s of games disappearing from the world because Nintendo will inevitably shut down the online store at some point just like they did with the 3DS

Ah yes, I should be paying full price for unfinished games on underperforming hardware. How entitled of me to have basic standards. Nobody is asking to have things go above and beyond, but just look at footage of most Pokemon games on switch and you'll see. Saying emulation is 100% bad or "entitlement" is like saying you should only go to Whole Foods for produce, and if you go to Walmart or anywhere else with better deals, you're subjected to an "excellent filter for the quality of person in front of you".

Whole Foods is Nintendo, and Walmart or whatever is emulation. If people find better service and value from these other locations, they will prefer going there. That's quite a huge assumption. There are quite a considerable number of people who want to use mods or get better graphic. In these cases, these people can easily afford Switch and Nintendo games, thus they can just buy from Nintendo then play on emulators.
I see what you are saying but also the people who do own a switch can dump the games they have payed for too. They take it down because of people playing Zelda early yet people also did the same thing on actual Switches. They are going after the wrong people and almost seem to be purposeful. They are trying to get people to not know the difference between emulation and piracy.
