Damm, that looks like a real incredible game, the way it tricks you with errors, crashes, deleting save files, it really must have neen incredibly bizare as a kid playing the game, getting small error texts on the bottom of the screen, only to find out seconds later it dissapearing, really screwing with people's heads. Something we as the players would question what was real and what was not, was what I just saw real or was it just part of the game? Did I really just see that statue turn it's head or was it always like that? Really creative, especially for something back in the Gamecube. Wish we could have at least a remaster for modern devices instead of leaving it back in the past. Oh well, that happens in the industry sometimes. Great video, I doubt I would have found this gem of a game without this video. Kepp up the good work!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Truly was ahead of its time and seriously did screw with my head at least when I was a kid. Sad to see it kind of die out over the years though.
@@Legend-of-Kai The Forest Temple was definitely creepier, with the hands falling from the ceiling or the twisted hallways and the music made it so much more eerie.
Now that is one amaizng horror game! Truly unfortunate that it's exclusive to the game cube, the game is one of a kind and deserves more than it should've, you cannot call it a failed project if it could nearly gain 500 thousand units (And others sating close to a million). This has potential to be even greater! Very unfortunate on the other company's side of things, what Silicon Knights did (Refering to the lawsuit.), I see it as quiet unessesary. Also the arrest of Kenneth McCulloch, deserved honestly. Truly terrible what he possesed and worse it affected the game. Would definetly love to see a remaster or a second game come out though! Maybe just maybe, Nintendo could pull it off!
It'd be super interesting to see how they could modernise some of the sanity effects, the fact that Nintendo hasn't done anything with it so far though doesn't give me too much hope. But hey, I never expected Super Mario RPG to ever come back so maybe!
6:45 nice trick. I thought it was my connection. But seriously, this game deserved a series. I didn't play it as much as RE1/0/4 on the GameCube (ED has less replayability value for me at least) but my experience was so unique and memorable. Today, I remember this game more than any other horror game I've every played. If I have one little criticism is the battle system with guns a bit simplistic, on the other hand I loved the spells and runes. These are so addictive. Finally, they could have used sanity meter to allow differing story paths, e.g., if you finish a chapter without having sanity level drop to low or medium level, you get a different path (good) or otherwise the main character, Alex, will follow a darker path (e.g., ending with Alex as the final boss instead) if you lose sanity often. May be a bit tedious to incorporate though because ED already has different story conclusions due to the 3 ancient gods you must fight in different playthroughs.
I had a friend I knew who has this game and it freaked me out all the way towards the ending. I never wanted to play again after cleaning with 100% completion. I would try again and fully explore the depths this time becoming more in tune with the horror genre.
