Correction: 0:20 - $200 for the Switch Lite, accidently said $250. oopsy lol The Nintendo Switch in 2023 is still worth buying- just make sure to check the game you want performs well, and you're good to go. So, what's the best game ever made for Switch in your opinion?
Luigi’s mansion 3 definitely As for 3rd support, it would be Witcher 3, alien isolation, re revelations, hellblade, cc reunion and many more. I don’t really care for graphics or fps just how the game runs and the switch does just fine imo 😊 switch is my biggest library for games I’ve collected as well
Switch saved my life low key. Got sober in 2019 and hours of gameplay with my recently purchased switch helped in ways I can't describe. Still my favorite. I may have some cloud services that help my mobiles turn into pcs these days but my switch still goes everywhere with me. At work it still helps me at nights when the bar is slow and there's not much for me to do until the restaurant closes and I gotta count the money. Thank you nintendo!
It was found out a year ago what the problem with the Joy-Con Drift is, but strangely not many people seem to know about it yet. A lot of people think you have to clean the sticks with disinfectant or alcohol or replace the whole sticks, but you just have to unscrew the joy-con and put a piece of cardboard under the stick to put enough pressure on the membrane to close the gap because there is a gap under the membrane of the stick where dust can get in.
@KristiyanT Nintendo continues to pretend the Joy-Con Drift doesn't exist. When you send your Joy-Con to Nintendo for repair, they will either replace just the stick or the entire Joy-Con, so if you send in a Limited Edition Joy-Con, you may end up with just a regular Joy-Con instead. And this Joy-Con could also get the drift again because you have to fix it yourself.
@@aqwsderxz But if you remove the dirt with it, without the piece of cardboard, new dirt can get under the membrane again and the drift will come again. So this is not a permanent fix.
The switch (and mainly Breath of the wild) was the reason I started gaming again. So while I appreciate everything I've played on it; it's time for me to move on. First time owners will find it insanely fun; but after having mines for about 3 years now and playing over 15 different games; I want to play bigger and more powerful games. Not to mention all the third party games I've missed out on throughout the years. I love nintendo exclusives but miss COD and more action/mature oriented games. I've been spoiled by the switch's portability so I'm saving up for a Steam Deck. It feels like the most logical evolution to my gaming "career". Same way I started with the switch and Zelda, I'll go for the Steam Deck and Elden Ring!
I get that and that is why i always keep my xbox.. As a gamer u have to have more then one console i have the switch xbox 1 and pc depending on mood depends on what i play..
They should do with the Switch what they did with the DS line. They should release a more powerful revision that can still play all of the games previously released. It may never be as powerful as a dedicated console but they can beef it up to let games perform better. Give the hypothetical Switch 2 an updated chip and a little more RAM and there you go. They can just use the OLED model tablet for it and give it some slightly better Joy-Cons in some cool new colors. A lot of the issues seem to be with optimization of various games though.
I definitely say that even though the switch is ancient, it's still worth it in 2023. Its quite impressive what devs could do on hardware that's almost 10 years old, and even get games running on battery for a good amount of time!
It's more impressive when you consider it's 10 year old hardware that nintendo underclocked to save battery life. It's running half the x1's original cpu clock and about 3/4 it's original clock on the gpu when docked.
@@Yodagamer1 oh wow, I honestly thought they only underclocked handheld mode. That's even more impressive. Nintendo knows how to use their limits and push the limits, that's for sure.
No, it's the worst console I've ever owned. I've spent more time on the Nintendo ds and Wii than a switch because they have more solid games. We used to have games from Disney and Pixar films, bratz, etc and now we have very few. Cars 3 I think I've seen before on the switch, cooking mama and that's about it. Resolution is awful. It's surprisingly good enough when docked but you have to recharge your controller and I don't think my switch would charge itself on the tv dock because the screen wasn't very fixed into place (TV dock wasn't snug enough). Controllers are awful to hold which makes me believe even more that this device is targeted towards kids. Everything ranging from the games from only looking the best if they have simple graphics, to the TV dock and portable so kids 'dont get bored away from home' proves it's for kids. I've used mine for 36 hours in 2 years, 8 months and I've just sold it. Currently waiting on a much improved one which I doubt will ever come in the way I want. We just need a 4k screen docked and at least 1080p screen handheld, the screen size like the oled. Controllers to be designed for adult pro gamers with curved grips on the back (handheld). People are delusional because even a mobile phone can perform 100x better than the switch. Like ok it was released 6 years ago but that doesn't make a point when we're talking of the now. Nintendo made the switch at an awkward time (half way through to the ps5 and Xbox series being released. Nintendo has always been behind. The Gameboy having no colour that was released in like the 90's, when that era of tech was around in like the 70's or 80's. The Nintendo DS lite having pixelated graphics in 2005 when the Xbox 360, ps3 and regular TV could perform better. Nintendo DS lite - pixelation was of the 90's. The Wii was actually good enough though even-though there was a bit more work to do to match up with the 360 and PS3. Which makes me believe that they should release a 3rd system. Then with the Nintendo switch - as I said they released it at an awkward time once again. And because of this, if they keep going they will exit the console market. They're just hanging on because they know if they target audiences that Xbox and ps aren't they will remain; just hanging by a thread. And that's where xb and ps copy them by releasing the remote play (xb) and ps portal, psp, etc. Funny thing is when you look up their units sold over time, once something of theirs is successful they won't follow up on it to create another addition. A few times they did so but not at the right time. After the classic Wii, I would've created a handheld. Then another TV only console, handheld, etc. But we get things like the Wii, Wii u, handheld, handheld, handheld and handheld....I just don't understand where they get the idea that it's okay to do this. 🤯 Plus we need new spin offs though I might be uneducated on their recents.
I just bought an OLED switch yesterday. I love the fact that you can play super Nintendo and regular Nintendo games on it. I still haven’t purchased the package with the N64 games. I am a little worried about new hardware coming out within the next two years. Looking at their last successful Consol. It ran for nine years before they created new hardware.
I didn’t get my OLED model until a year in when I got hurt on the job. I hadn’t touched my switch in almost year earlier. I’m happy I had the spare cash for the OLED model. I enjoy it tremendously since I’ve been out on medical leave. I still wish there was HBO Max and RU-vid TV on it. So I’m saying enjoy the heck out of it and don’t worry what coming. Enjoy the here and now. Plan your life, not your purchases. There’s always the next thing that comes out. Does it do what you need it to do? Then enjoy man.
Back in 2019 I bought V1 of The Nintendo Switch and it’s absolutely still works great and I am glad I can still play any games on the Switch and I never get sick and tired of it. I totally remember it when it was released back in 2017 it was my next console to get and buy it and I’m glad I still have it.
I bought the switch last year and don't regret it in the slightest. It has a large game library and the switches price is pretty good. I play games docked most on the time. Its no ps5 or Xbox series x and that's fine. Gaming being offered at all different price ranges. Is it perfect lol God no, but it does what it does well enough.
great console, great library. I think its getting a little scary to buy at this point because you never know when nintendo will say f the consumer and just release new hardware but even then you can still get crazy good use out of it
Think of it this way: If you buy one now, you have all those games to choose from. You won't be able to play everything in a year anyway. Then after some time, when there are more games released on the new Switch you can upgrade again. Personally, I don't like buying consoles at launch, or even a year after, because there aren't that many games yet and they usually release a cheaper model down the line.
based on recent news Im sure nintendo won't release a new console for at least 2 more years. But even then this thing has so many games you can get a lot of time on it
I still think the V1 is one of the best deals out there if you can find a used one in good condition, emulation is good on Retroarch and even better on Android standalone apps, not to mention having the choice to use whatever 3rd party controller you want to use (DS4/Xbox) but the form factor is undoubtedly the best selling point of any Switch
Bro solid video, I always wanted to pick up a Switch since the 2017 launch, I played a bit of Zelda Breath of the Wild and knew it’s a game that needs to be played, the sense of adventure was amazing, I have been a PlayStation gamer with PS4 and then PS5, playing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom at a friends place made me finally pull the trigger, got the Switch OLED and man it’s such a good console! The handheld screen is so colorful and vibrant, having a blast playing both docked and handheld, really enjoying playing Zelda And Super Mario Odyssey, so happy with my Switch purchase 😊
I want to get a switch for my sons 6th birthday real soon. Can I just use the game cards on their own or do I have to register an online account etc? Thanks for the video
Could have used an emulator on pc/Mac. Switch games run crazy good on Mac 1/PC plus games are free Could’ve save that money but the program is called ryujinx
@@krisbg113 I haven't used YUZU yet due to no Mac support as of yet and you can use wireless xbox or ps4/ ps5 controller through bluetooth or usb controller
Absolutely! The Nintendo Switch is a must own console because it has a great library of games. I always say you have too own two out of the three leading consoles together. A switch with a PS or a Switch with an Xbox. I love my Switch
I currently own a regular switch, 2017 but am happy that I can play on the switch itself and the tv. I just charge it on the doc. It’s easier to play games on the tv tho
Until the Switch 2 is released, I will always say the Switch is worth the buy. Might wanna buy a pro controller or 3rd party joycons, the drift is REAL.
I just got an OLED Switch this past Tuesday. The one with the white Joy-Cons. For all these years I played Super Mario Odyssey on my Switch Lite. And when I played it on my HD tv I was blown away on how much better it looked on the tv than in handheld mode. I very much prefer to play Odyssey on my tv now. Same with Breath of the Wild.
I just bought one last December 23.😅 I'd say it's worth it for someone who's always on the go. It was either this or a PS5 but I just went with the Switch because it's easy to bring with me. It's easy to plug in when I go to the other house (just got an extra dock) and I mainly play 2k anyway. So for me, it's a good buy. I'm trying BotW too.
@James Trill yeah! The prices even for old games are crazy!😅 That's why I just look around in the second hand market for good deals. Recently I was able to get Astral Chain and Daemon X Machina for a really good price. I recommend them both. Astral Chain more than the other.
@@Yourbeast1 I don’t have one personally (I have the 2017 one) But If you do not own a switch currently than absolutely go for the OLED especially if your planning on playing in portable mode. If your planning on playing on the dock than there is absolutely no difference.
Just giving my 2 cents here, i'm a pc guy since i saw my brother buying a spectrum and waiting for more than 1h to load a game. I had a couple of consoles, sega genesis, game boy 1st gen, color, sega game gear (such a great failed handheld console, way better than gameboy color but 6 batteries was to much lol) but my great last console was the ps2, golden age of games for me, gta III/vice city, final fantasy X etc.. had a PSP but something about the joystick didn't made my play enjoyfull for a long period of time and it just stoped working one random day (maybe because i played only in the bathroom and water steam from baths just broke the electronics xD) in my 20s played only PC, warcraft III/starcraft II, world of warcraft consumed my time for years then league of legends and skyrim, man i loved those games! Now in my 30s i bought a switch oled this christmas because i wanted to relax on my bed, but man i spend more time on the store looking for deals or games i played years ago (skyrim, i insta bought ofc) and joy cons to mix max colours ( i probably wont even use) but i just feel like a kid wanting more gadgets and games for the nintendo and i love this feeling lol i just wished it was a bit more powerfull to play gta V, that would be perfection for me (yeah i know about the steam deck, but the nintendo looks more magical and i already have a decent PC xD ). Probably no one will fell the same, but gaming is a bit boring nowadays, games comes with deluxes and extras, i dont feel the joy to buy a stock recent game because it looks like u need to buy the omega supreme edition to have everything, and i hate that. Elden ring is an example of a massive game with no bullcrap editions (there are others, but just to give an example). To conclude my random comment, the nintendo switch is awsome! Played mario party and overcooked with friends this new year eve and we had so much fun! A better and faster store to navigate and cheaper games and i can see it last a bit more years. Have a nice 2023 everyone
I own a 2017 Switch which I used until the release of the Lite. I haven’t went back to the OG Switch since as the Lite is perfect! I even purchased a Steam Deck but found it too unpolished and physically clunky so I traded it in and pretty much got most of my money back.
I already have an OLED phone and can't afford an OLED monitor so it's OK for me, also the Joycons are more comfortable, the screen and battery are better, and the kickstand is perfect, I used my cousin's so that's from experience until I buy one.
I just bought a switch like a week or two ago and I can say it’s worth it if you’re a ps5 or Xbox player it’s definitely different and more Childs type games but they’re fun if you let your self get into them and have fun
It's my first handheld I've ever owned so I think it's okay for me like everyone has to start somewhere and for me the switch oled was my choice 🤷🏽♂️ I picked it over a ps4
Just got my sister a switch oled for her Christmas present. Definitely worth it. Enjoying playing animal crossing new horizon with local co-op. Buying a switch was the only logical step since nintendo has given up on the 3ds and wii u e shops. Such a shame
@@yinja3406 I have a gaming PC and I'm selling (it's on sale right now on Facebook lol) selling it for a Nintendo console, take that info as you will. Ask questions about the type of person I am to help for your decision
@@mouneebak2078 i already took my decision. it's (drum roll) switch oled. i just like nintendo stuff i enjoy their games very much. and i am EXCITED AS HELL FOR ZELDA TEARS OF THE KINGDOM!
@@yinja3406 W choice brother, can't wait for my PC to sell so I can get one myself. How's the switch btw? Also I didn't realise your comment was 3 months old lol
The switch is great for some ports. An example is Megaman ZX collection since those was GBA/DS/3DS games. Same goes for the upcoming Megaman Battle Network collection those was GBA/DS games originally. So you see it’s great if you’re getting 1st party games or ports of old games that originally was on GB, GBC GBA, DS, 3DS. I wouldn’t recommend getting it if you’re gonna be playing big 3rd party games since that’s where things take a major hit. Plenty are cloud versions and aren’t worth it, on PC or Series X/PS5 those major 3rd party titles are native and play much better. So I leave it up to you…plus I’d like to mention all Nintendo games are still $60-50 which is ridiculous but that’s Nintendo.
@@LEXICON-DEVIL yes but I meant they was never intended to be played on big 4K screens. Those old collections look better on switch because that's the small screen they was designed for originally. Don't get me wrong it's great more get to play retro games they otherwise may not plus this makes buying actual pricey GBA carts less likely since these collections are cheaper and better plus they include all the special content. Which back on the GBA was japan exclusive or required the DS to unlock.
@@AwakenUniverse Just about anything is better then the Switch. Its Garbage but it has strong IP’s. If a small screen and retro gaming is your thing. Then get a Steam Deck. Don’t say its too expensive either because Nintendo is the most expensive brand to be a fan of compared to whats paid for on PS4 & Ek-Bok! Or get a PS4 controller, PS4 controller phone clip and bam. Legacy console with far superior screen resolution, screen filters, graphic shaders, custom button configuration, superior battery life and every single Arcade,Sega, Nes, Snes, Ps1 etc. all on your phone for free and still better then what the Switch offers for retro gaming. The Steam Deck 100% emulates Switch games too soooooooooooo? Nintendo has great IP’s but I’m done being their test dummy. They never lower the prices and they half assss sell updates. It took like 5 revisions before the Gameboy finally caught up to a GameGear with full color and a back light. Nintendo milks their fans in every way possible. Locking off content with Amiibos especially and other similar shady business practice. Like im supposed to be impressed with an oled screen that the PSP had years before by default.
im still using my 2017 switch and it does not have any issues other than the battery that might be showing its age now people complain about Pokémon scarlet and violet running horribly? i don't think its that bad...
Yeah, if you don’t own a switch already, buying one now gives you access to lots of great games. I’d say that’s worth it. I would recommend either the Lite or the OLED though, but to each their own.
The switch is definitely still worth it. I couldn't care less about 4k graphics on my switch Ive got ps5 and a pc for high end gaming I got the switch back in the day just to have fun with nintendo exclusive games (Zelda especially) and I'm still having a great time with it lol.
Great retro console, on par with mini NES these days, worth for $50, not more. Got more, you'd better try Anbernic, Retroid Pockets, steam deck, Ayaneo 2 and a ton of more advanced handhelds that fits 2023 picture.
I've got the launch switch. Top three problems I've noticed are that the console is bent, left joycon drift(fixed it with infixit kit), and the right joycon ZR registering as the A button. Besides that it's a decent console that has design flaws.
Where I live Switch Lite is almost half cheaper than the "normal" one. I use a gaming PC for playing on TV so I'm not planning as for Today to plug Switch to a big screen (keyword: plan) I need something for portable use only. Would you still recommend the original Switch?
If you ever, EVER consider playing the switch on a bigger screen go for the original switch. But if you're NEVER planning on ever using it with a bigger screen than the lite is perfectly fine.
the fact that that phone games that are usually free cost money on the switch made me take it back to the store a day after for a refund, also mostly kids games
the game prices are absolutely criminal. spent $63 on mario kart and it has such a minimal amount of content when asphalt 9 is freemium and is 40x more fun
I don’t know why we don’t have a Nintendo selects by now with 20-30$ priced physical and digital games. It would make people like me check out games I skipped.
At this stage of the life cycle, the Switch should have got at least half a dozen of “select” games. Switch games are being sold at discounted prices occasionally but they go back up after the discount period. I guess Nintendo wants to control the prices of the games instead of marking them down permanently.
Switch lite to me is the evolution of ps vita. I love my switch lite to where I’ve not touched my brothers PS 4 pro and my PS 4 in years. I don’t even find the need to buy a PS 5 or a OLED switch either. If the new switch comes in a smaller version then I might get that one.
I just wish they would hurry up and release a new version of the switch. They keep releasing the same switch with different designs😢. Maybe even a whole new console would be great.
I bought a switch when they released. Bought Breath of the wild, Doom and Skyrim. Sold the console after a year. Just bought an Oled for the new Zelda game. Looked to pick up Skyrim. Really surprised it's the same price as six years ago . Same with every other old game. Nintendo are not lowering prices of old games. So I plan to buy a PlayStation portal to go with my PS5 for such as Doom and Skyrim streamed from PS5
The OLED Model is definitely worth the upgrade/cross grade. It fixed everything I wish could be better about the OG switch. The construction and materials used are a great improvement. The screen is amazing. Having the ability to change color settings is a huge plus. The kickstand is Muy Bien! The speakers are improved in both volume and quality but they could be a lot better. I still with they could work with Apple or Apple buys them. This way we could get an A16 chip in there and iPhone speakers. After that let Nintendo do what ever they want. Apple cancels their 🍏Arcade and we can just have the switch auto pair with my HomePods. Load it up with a modified TVOS.
I really want to get a Nintendo switch but considering this console is so old now I’m afraid to buy it and then Nintendo will announce a new model.. wondering when they will update it already
It's 9 months after this video and I'm considering buying one. Even now it seems the next Nintendo wil come in a year. Why? Because we all know how hard it will be to get the new model in the beginning. And let not forget, the first wave always have a problem they did not found out or solved before launching it.
PC broke and I just chose a switch over a PS5 (I was so close to ordering one of Sony's site.) But I Still have so many titles In my old account I never got a chance to finish (like skyrim, doom, resident evil,La noire and you can't forget all their exclusives) sold my switch around the time they launched the SNES virtual library. The fact that they added way more classics through the years shows how much love Nintendo has been putting to that console.(don't even get me started with the N64). I even heard they might add warzone to the switch, which to me still sounds crazy but enough for me to change my mind. I ended up finding one for a steal on eBay and it's coming by the end of the week. Had to spend a lil more for a heftier SD card, but that's nothing compared to shelling out on PS5 games. especially how they are priced at 70 a pop. Comfortable enough to game on the switch for now.
The switch lite is only $200. It’s $100 cheaper than the regular one and $150 less than the oled. Most of your arguments against were basically “for $50 more just get a regular switch”. That’s not a valid point and makes the switch like appear a lot more unappealing that it actually is. For younger people, more casual gamers, and households on a budget; saving that extra $100 is worth it.
I'm currently saving for the OLED model and I should have it by the end of the year, I am looking forward to it and I have heard that there is a new switch console coming out within the next three years. From what you know of this new switch console, do you think it will be better than the OLED?
@@lilzeddy Thanks, I’ve decided to go with the OLED in the end as it just seems the better option for now and 3-4 years would be more than long enough for me to enjoy it and get a good use out of it.
I have my lunch launch day switch (I got it the week after) and it runs perfectly still. I’m just waiting on the next hardware coming within the next two years
Especially since I don't care about the games that much, there's little reason to get one over a refurbished smartphone with a mountable controller, especially with Nintendo's track record of shipping faulty handhelds in my experience.
3:55 The price difference between the switch lite and the regular switch is not 50$, its a 100$! The switch lite is 199$ vs the regular 300$ switch. Making an excelente cheap entry point into the ecosystem
I am gonna get into Animal crossing so I need a Switch to do that. The OLED Switch is nice but I might go for the switch lite since I don't have a lot of money to spend
Amazing they could get this system to run so many AAA games. The devs really did their homework in getting the most out of the hardware combined with quality code to deliver so much. I come from powerful gaming PC's and Xbox's and how many stories and videos are there with gamers who struggle to get those powerful systems to play nicely? Most of that comes down to the game devs not delivering a quality product and succumbing to corporate greed. The stuff designed and made for Nintendo are just rock solid.
If you had to choose between a Switch or a Quest 2 which would you buy? I bought a Quest 2 in 2020 (64GB model for $300) and can't play on it very much due to motion sickness. In hindsight I would have bought a Switch instead.
Nintendo Switch is extremely outdated not just in power but the features that completely missing from previous Nintendo consoles even for 2017. The only logical reason to buy it is for exclusives and cartridges because almost any other platform done everything else better. Don't get me wrong, I owned one and I like it
So on the 2nd of January 2023 I got myself v2 Switch. I previously bought the lite on release. I would've gone gone for the oled but the v2 was discounted so I went for it (and they didn't have the red/blue oled in stock).
Good system had it since launch but I would hold off on it for 2023. Too many rumblings of whatever is coming next; hopefully it will be backwards compatible to take advantage of the Switch's library.
I have the original switch from 2017 and my original neon controllers ended up getting drift so i bought replacement grey ones and Ive been thinking of getting a 2nd switch but cant decide between the lite or OLED
What if you did a video of how the Nintendo GameBoy holds up in 2023. I remember getting a Nintendo GameBoy for my birthday when I was a kid back in 1994. I think the GameBoy was originally released in 1989.
The Nintendo Switch is a good console, with a big library of games if you include digital-only games....There are plenty of "cheap" retro games on Nintendo Switch, and there seems to be sales on the eShop every week....I hate that full-retail games from Nintendo and Hal Laboratory are 80$ Plus tax here...That fact makes retail games largely financially inaccessible to me....I simply don't want to spend close to or more than 100$ on a single game....I think the digital-only library of classic games, which is still growing makes the most sense to me...That is what I am consuming on Nintendo Switch, Arcade Archives...Wish Sega AGES was still alive on Switch...
no one talks about how the cheaper version one switch some you can jailbreak and run custom firmware which can be used to get the entire nintendo e shop for free custom themes emulators and even a way to install android. If you are willing to do the research into modding your switch it’s way more worth it then the fancy screen.
