Nintendo commitment to not using the Mii’s when that’s part of what made the originals so iconic is an…interesting choice.

If Switch Sports doesn't have more and better sports than Wii Sports Resort then it's not worth it. I'll keep playing Wii Sports Resort in my Wii.

Clearly this is a game that the dev team only works on once in a while and they otherwise have other stuff to do, this definitely got no development priority. They somehow had to DELAY the Golf update, and then the next update was 2 years later. At least they didn't abandon it completely, adding more to it is good especially considering how sad and lackluster the original release was, so that's a slightly welcome surprise.

As an optimist, my theory is that it took 2 years to update is because they have bigger things in the update, but they only decided to add basketball so that when people check it out, it will be one of the biggest Nintendo reveals of all time

More than 1.5 years for one sport to be added. We're at 8 sports now, several of them are just hitting a ball over a net, and Sports Resort still has more sports. Quantity does not equal quality, but variety and options add value.

This is just Nintendo's way of saying "Please keep playing this game."

A two year wait for basketball is actually insane when wii sports, a game from *literally over 15 years ago* came with more content out of the box. A release like this *could* have been legendary, it *could* have revived the hype from over 15 years ago, brought in new fans and gone down as one of the better games on switch. But, its yet another game series people wanted revived to be mismanaged by Nintendo that is probably gonna fall into obscurity and never be given that second chance again that niche series rarely get in the first place.
