That was the "card protection jacket" you had there! I'm surprised they included one even though it already comes in a case. Maybe to stop sunlight from hitting the magnetic strip? The booklet's form factor reminds me of a DS game. They were also really thick. Really cool!

Hey Bob, looks like you've really been hitting the cardio! Comparing now to yourself in the Q&A from a few years is night and day! I really ought to be doing the same. Cheers!

That's kind of you to say. I can get away with a headshot in a video, but from the neck down, it's a different story. Going to keep working on that very diligently this summer. Thank you for commenting!

Stumbled upon your channel trying to understand if my copy of metroid is complete. I really like your style!

This video made me think about Disk System games in general. One one hand, their cover art, manuals and logos are usually amazing! Way better than their American counterparts, in my opinion. On the other, the disk itself looks almost always the same. I guess, you are not supposed to walk around with the disks outside of its packages. Still, the cartridges are more unique in their format. Well, it could be argued that the yellow disk is already iconic in its own right. Anyway, it's good that we have both options to choose from. As a game, the Japanese version is definitely the definitive, though. Oh, nice profile pic!

Correct me if I'm wrong, the stickers in the manual are for when you buy the game downloading it on a disc from a Disk Writer kiosk.

Interesting. If you bought the game by writing it to a disk in a store kiosk, would they give you the manual with the stickers, too?

@@yauy I found this on Wikipedia : "Instruction sheets were given by the retailer, or available by mail order for ¥100."

@@yauy I am betting that the extra stickers in the manual were meant to be given or traded with a friend or classmate who used the download service. So if for example, one had a disc that only used one side, with a game that had no replay value, that person then decided to download Zelda or Metroid, you could give or trade your extra stickers to that person.

There wasn't the cartridge version of the Japanese version of Metroid. Just the Famicom Disk System version of Metroid.

Only the very first Zelda Game was re-released as Cartridge in Japan.

Will you look at the reissues of Zelda 1 and Metroid with the alternate box art that was released late in the NES's life? It would be interesting to see if any images were updated or even simple grammar or spelling errors that slipped through were fixed.
@yauy

That would be interesting. Unfortunately, however, I don't have those.

Nope! It was only released on the FDS just like Kid Icarus and Super Mario Bros 2 (Japan).

No, the artwork is the same as on the NES manual.
