@iamsuprme definitely still works. You have to shoot him then immediately turn around and run back every time. Of course dont stand too close to him, use the video as a guide on how far to be, basically just far enoughn to where you can see the tip of his head is fine. I just tried it twice in a row with perfect success. You can use a bow or regular rifle, doesnt have to be the cannon. The goal is to get his health about halfway, because thats when he goes into the 2nd phase and forces the barrier up. If youve been running back after every shot, you should be waiting on the other side of the bridge while his two green spirits spawn, with him running after you. But the barrier will stop all three of them. At that point you can just heavy stance triangle attack through the barrier or use a ranged weapon like the did in video.
@iamsuprme Im glad you persevered through my man. I tried a good 10 or so tries before saying, screw this and hopped on youtube lmao. I remember seeing like 20 gravestones on the bridge thinking...yeah....deff gonna figure out a way to cheese this and now here i am lol.
Still works 👍, just a side note, when he is on the other side of the barrier, you can hit him with your weapon of choice. You don't have to waste bullets or arrows.
This actually worked for me too. Thank man. Also I ran out of Ammo so I just hit him in high stance with triangle attack through the force wall, he didn't even attack me
Same here, lol. Spammed triangle with my upgraded raikiri. He went down in seconds. Just when I thought there was no way to cheese bosses or mini bosses in this game, lol.
trick works fine. Thank you! Was stuck a while with this dude. By the way: You can also go near the barrier and slam him with your blades. (at least it worked for the two handed weapon) No need to waste bullets.
This worked... but not as intended! I was able to blast the buffoon from a safe distance, but he didn't chase after me. A couple of Oni-Bi came out of nowhere to harass me, but they were easily dispatched. Thanks!
I stand corrected! It works, but the timing has got to be right. You basically run after he's dropped to his knees, but not before it. You should be able to make it past the haze before it goes up... but he won't!
Thanks man. I was fighting him and tried everything else. I tried regular fighting, I tried to break him with a hammer, keep away with an odachi, and even tried to knock him into the water but nothing worked. I almost beat him but then he healed up 4k HP which was a fuck ton of health on him. I was just about out of elixirs and didn't wanna lose my level up from the amrita I carried in with me, and this trick let me clear him without burning up my few remaining resources
If you fight the boss normally, you can actually use the kusarigama attack where you hold down triangle. This brings him down close to the ground and you can just keep hitting square. Basically if you keep staying further away from him, you can do this if he's not shooting an arrow. When he tries to power up, you can actually shoot a shuriken or any quick projectile to stop him. I just wrecked the dude, good times 😎
Just threw him out of the bridge. Low stance katana, was one hitting him, he blocks, then he tries to swing his axe, then you counter hit, his attack stops & he starts blocking. Redo all the way until youre at the beginning of the bridge, then just repeat until he falls down(the spot has white stone layer,between the bridge and the firebone)
Didn't want to load up the game but since I'm FINALLY playing the Nioh 2 DLC, I was like "holy shit, is the bridge guy Benkei." But nah, that ain't Benkei
Welp, I'm back and after reading up on the lore of the Warrior Benkei, he waited on a bridge to challenge all who crossed in his endeavor to collect 1000 weapons. Leading me to believe this is indeed Benkei and he's just not reached his goal yet.

the funny part about this is it's authentic to how benkei actually died. they were too scared to confront him directly so they shot him full of arrows.

Started Nioh for the first time not too long ago, I beat this dude, but just as I was about to deal the killing blow I accidentally knocked him off the ledge into the water and didn't get his drops. No way I wanted to fight him normally again, so this cheese works for me.
I couldn't get his ki to stay down for the life of me. Used a sloth talisman and slowly pushed him to the edge of the bridge where he dodged back and drowned. I called it a win and went on my merry way. Haha
Playing april 16, 2022. Still works. Just beat him easily. No damage taken. 😂 🤙🏽 and I got a book of reincarnation as a reward. I was saving to buy one. Gonna spam this to get my amrita up
I tried this out today because this guy was hard even with my ninja build. I did it and I got stuck inside the forcefield wall but he couldn't hit me :)
