To further clarify Discord (called Chaos in the English release) skip to 7:02 or 7:50. You'll see that when a 2nd elemental debuff is applied a 3rd debuff automatically shows up which looks like a ying & yang symbol. That icon is Discord. It occurs from applying any 2 of the 5 main elements (fire, water, wind, lightning, earth). Applying a third elemental while Discord is active will refresh the debuff as well. (i.e. you applied discord with fire & water, adding a lighting debuff will refresh Discord). This stops Yokai from generating Ki completely and also causes them to take significantly more damage. In the video my basic attacks went from 203 to 305.
+amacm69 Say if you get Unlimited Elixir 15%, then that means that there's a 15% chance that when you use an Elixir it'll heal you but won't consume the Elixir from your inventory. So it's like a chance at getting a free use out of that item.
Another tip that most beginners don't realize is that you gain the benefits from passives in other weapon trees, even if you don't use or even carry that weapon. You also get some great passives in ninja and magic trees.
Here from Sekiro so taking it in all pretty easy am I a parry god 🤣but thankyou sir nice lil tip I haven’t heard people go into to much detail about this until I looked it up 🥴
I came to you when I was first learning how to Dark Souls, and here I am again for Nioh. I'm happy to say your quality has not been disappointing. Thanks for another great tutorial.
In mission 2 there is a part inside the caverns before the boss with 5 demons and 6 skeletons, if you active the altar in the rock bridge you can farm amrita by killing and reset the enemies in the altar, in about 1 hour you can level up to 20 levels before entering the vampire boss. Be sure to use an axe in the upper stand to kill easily the demons, two hits in the head lower their stamina to zero and you can hit them again two times, most of time that kill them
Very helpful video. I had no idea about the "discord" debuff. Side note: the Nioh community is already proving to be really awesome. Summoned about 3 different people to help me with missions yesterday and every last one of them was extremely patient and also showed me where every item/Kodama was without me asking ( I would not have asked but I do appreciate it.) Looking forward to seeing more of y'all in feudal Japan
That's really cool. In general, people in these communities might shit-talk a lot, but tend to be very nice and helpful while co-oping, it's a funny contrast.
MPT1983 well souls community is fuckin cancer.... go for each ds tips and tricks video on youtube and all you will see in the comments is fuckin git good everywhere... and now those cumdrinkers from souls community turning their asses to Nioh as you can see in this video comments....
*The two different chests can be immediately noticed by their front designs.* A chest with three bars on each of its side is a mimic chest. You can use the Whistle emote in front of it for a cool effect. A chest with two bars on each of its side is a regular chest.
I've brute forced with fire living weapon and papers, I didn't even start using the stance change until recently. Love finding Kodamas, they're so happy.
tehCostHD acually bloodbourne, darksouls, ninja giden and now nioh has a genera name. it was just named when this gets came out. it's now called "masochore games" which are arpg's that are more difficult than normal games simply because the fan base likes it that way. games that you have to die many times to learn how to defeat even the most benign of mobs lol
I love the hell out of this game, absolutely 100% addicted and enthralled. I don't know if it will ever dethrone Dark Souls 1 as my favorite game of all time, but I can see why it would for other people. I personally enjoy the harsh learning experience in Souls where you have to put the time in to figure things out as you discover them, but there's definitely a fun challenge to having everything available to you at once and trying to master it all at once too.
@@asgharabbas9885 lol probably still Dark Souls 1, just such an enjoyable replayable experience and probably the most memorable first playthrough of any game for me. I've grown to love Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, and maybe Elden Ring almost as much, but as my entry into the series I think Dark Souls is just cemented in my head as the best
Yeah I just started it yesterday and I’m so lost. it’s probably the most complicated game I’ve played just because of the million menus and so much to learn. I did the tutorial in the beginning but it only explained basic moves.
I wish I would've seen this video when I started. i'm on level 50 and I still didn't even know half the stuff I just saw on your video so thank you very much
I like this game so much is so rewarding when you figure a dude out and then u destroy with skill and knowledge it's hard but I love the feeling of when u prevail .still learning good ass game I'm coming from playing easy games now I jumped to.this dope game repect
Dude, this was the best thing anyone could do. I'm new to this kinda of style, but I'm not new to action gaming, I loved DMC, Omnimusha, God Of War, most of the action games were made just like those. Now it seems, they've switch to this genre of tough difficulty game play, along with alot more depth. it seems like a lot, but it should open up when I start playing. I just bought my copy this evening. I went searching everywhere for it, you can't find it anywhere. Most GameStop are on back order. But again, this video was helpful!
Thanks for the tips. Finished playing darks souls 1-3 and Bloodborne, so decided to start this game. I realize my approach here will likely have to be different to get the most enjoyment, so I'm glad to have come across this vid.
The whole thing seems extraordinarily complex, in terms of stats, abilities, gameplay, loot, etc... Looks amazing. The effort put into designing the game must have been insane. Looking forward to diving into all of this. Thanks for the great vid, Cowboy !
It's the fuckin ki lmao. Recovering stamina is now a proactive effort and it's a very engaging dynamic. I get a nice Ninja Gaiden vibe from the mechanics & enemy design--- loving it!
@@theonepstein5100 I dunno man, I'm getting my ass kicked lol. Like the other guy said it's the ki, I'm just starting to get the hang if doing the ki pulse during combat though which is a game changer
Joe Sheridan same here and the fluxing with stance changes and all that, but it’s so fucking satisfying, I like the layers to the combat, this for me is the only souls like game I’ve ever been able to get into
@@phoneticjuliet_1017 yeah month later and I pretty much mastered it. Changing stances, flux, parries combos etc. I think when I made that comment I didn't even realise the different dodge speeds lol. Tore through the main game (got much easier after nue) now I'm on the dlcs which are a good difficulty jump (date masemune and Maria are pretty ridiculous but somehow also good fun still). Overall I would say the combat is fantastic, better than any souls game but that is where it ends... It's pretty mediocre in every other area other than build variety I guess which I'not that into anyway.
Great video. Thanks for being thorough! I never played all the way through Nioh. Sounds like a great way to keep my occupied until Sekiro drops in price!
About blacksmithing I believe you forgot (or chose not) to explain the inheritance mechanism related to the icon [] > []! Good early guide though, thanks!
Man, I came into this game having played through the Souls series thinking it would be cake. This game makes some really smart enhancement and changes on that formula. I have a lot to learn. Thanks for the video! It was tremendously helpful.
Just heard about you last night from a friend, forgot your name, however, and, thankfully, just stumbled upon your channel without even trying! Works for me! Thanks for the vids!
I know this video is very old, but I picked up the first Nioh just recently. Your beginner's guide is very helpful. Especially the crafting and forging stuff. Thx alot :D
Great video. I appreciate all the info especially since last time I played this game was a year ago. Helped me then when I was new, helped me this time around too trying to remember.
Wait a minute. You're a god! I was actually so lost and starting to get a bit frustrated even though I did the tutorials at the start. It just seems like there's so much going on and almost always no room for error. This explains a lot and I'm going to get back into it now. Thanks a bunch for the quality content!
While this is really awesome and will definitely help, the magic/ninjutsu system in this game is a bit opaque. Here's hoping we'll get a part two of this for that....
I tried the demo of this before it was released, and while I thought it was fairly good, it didn't intrigue me enough to pick it up. I am SO glad it is a PS+ game, because I am now addicted to it. It's a bit of an odd game though... This is the first game I have played that gives you a tutorial that you play through to... get to the tutorial. I also wish things could be explained a little earlier in the game. It was only when I summoned my second or third companion that I realized it was actually a player-controlled character. I thought it was AI, similar to the bloody graves. The first time I summoned someone, he ran through the entire level killing everything before I even had a chance to see it. I only understood what was going on when a later companion took time to wave at me, whistle, etc.
You served me well through Dark Souls 3. Just picked up my PS4 Pro + Nioh on Monday and was delighted to see your channel pop back up for tips on Nioh. I'm curious as to which game you preferred more.
@@realdoozy2857 The game seems really cool.. just way to much to learn and figure out.. not so easily accessible, I work 40+ hour a week. I have many games I want to play.. usually never end up playing any due to life shoving its way into my existence. I just don't see myself every having the time to learn all this stuff.. a shame, because I feel it would be amazing if you could.. I tried today for 2 hours and just died over and over and the 2nd Executioner.. finally beat him.. and I know he wasn't hard. My previous attempt about 6 months ago I couldn't get past that first demon boss on boat.. couldn't even get 1/4 of his health gone. That's cause I suck. Dark souls is much more accessible, and the code vein which I'm going to pick up seems far easier in comparison to NIOH
@@pinkusfloydus9373 yea. There are way way way too many games even for someone like me who barely works and otherwise has no life. It's too bad though, cuz while this game definitely isn't triple a, from what I've played, it is right up my alley.
Dre' Plays Be patient. Stay calm. Don't be afraid to fail. Not as catchy, but it's the mentality I take into these games. The occasional "Fuck you!" shouted at the screen can be rather cathartic though lol.
ShinTensei Dude I feel ya I downloaded it then dropped it cause it wasnt rewarding me at all, then I tried playing more patiently and dodging, predicting and not being greedy with attacks when i get my chance. And then the first boss is light work. After that w ki pulse everything gets better and i started progressing real far real fast
DAMN.... I wish I would have watched this before starting Nioh. I never messed with the Blacksmith because I didn't really know how it benefited me. Since I was constantly changing my gear out, I never really got the matching bonus. I was STUPID for sure! Side note... Cowboy I love the videos! Been watching the DS series, Bloodborne, and now Nioh. Your videos helped me out of 1000s of jambs so THANKS MAN. Keep gaming! You Rock!
Wait im confused... you were talking about the elements that put different types of stat debuffs on the enemy and you went through all five.... but then you started talking about "discord" ?? Im not sure what that is... Is that just when you have 2 different types of debuffs on an enemy?
Mitch H yes it seems to be putting 2 element effects on the same enemy causes a massive debuff. He didn't explain that very well. This game in general seems VERY confusing when you first start, so many systems that are convoluted.
tehCostHD the more I re-watched the more I actually don't think that's the case. I think the "discord" buff is just something all on its own. I donno im just gonna keep playing and figure out as I go. Loving it so far
No, she can FORGE you a new haircut, you obviously know nothing of blacksmithing hair, I bet your hair aint even metal! I'm set up with that Technitium hair, yeah its radioactive, what of it?
This is by far the best video I have seen on Nioh. Every other video I have watched explains the absolute simplest things that the tutorial literally teaches you, but there is *so much* this game does not teach you, and you have clarified all of it! One thing I have noticed that I haven't found anywhere though, is that when I attack some enemies, a little icon shows up on the enemy that looks like a helmet? My best guess so far is that it means that the weapon I am using is not very effective against the enemy's armour, but I'm not really sure. Do let me know if you know what I'm talking about!
I apologize as I am well late to playing Nioh. This video helped me understand just how many nuances this great game has. I’ve been taking a beating and getting good. Thank you sir for your efforts.
Been playing this game for probably 15 hours before watching this. I feel like I learned way too much from this video for how long I've been playing the game. Thanks!
Pretty good. Did a good job explaining some of the important things, like farming revenants. Cannot understate how useful farming them is. Took me awhile to realize the easiest way to get good gear is to fight the revenant of someone else who already grabbed those things.
Knight Slayer so far I like it more than ds but I would say it's right up there with blood borne. But I've just beaten the second boss so can't say for sure yet
Certainly better gameplay, yes. Fantastic as souls games are, they _are_ very simplistic once you learn the actually mecha-style controls. Personally, the setting and plot also interest me even more, but i could see it not suiting everyone, not everyone cares about Japanese history and mythology. I have high hopes for fairly inevitable sequels. Let's just hope they don't drop off in quality right away.
Just started this game, and I'm going to start over. And choose the weapon he has here and the light sword. The annoying thing, in the beginning, you only find good weapons that you didn't choose to specialize in. Thanks for the video!
How do i regain Health? is elixirs the only way?? It seems like in the beginning of the game, in that tower, I was getting nothing but health potions or whatever, now, none of the enemies are dropping them, & I'm stuck without any elixirs. how in the hell do I either gain more elixirs or gain more health?? also, why isn't it, every time I go to a shrine & save my game ... I have to refight enemies I've already beaten??? thanks in advance!
Philly Scorpio elixers are the main source of health aside from a magic item called "rejuvenation" that you can unlock later. the you get 2 rejuvenation items and it will slowly heal you over time. farming elixers is a pain in the ass, I usually equip any armor and accessory that has the highest luck bonus, as well as the green bird guardian spirit that gives you +40 luck if your spirit stat is around 11 or 12. as far as the enemies respawning, that is just like the dark souls games. in those games (demons souls and Bloodborne as well) if you rest at a bonfire the enemies will respawn. I personally like it because it helps you to learn the enemy attack patterns more and you can farm them for items and experience points.
cloudbloom thanks! Great info! I've noticed that you still gain from fighting the same enemies over..but it kinda makes it repetitive in some aspect, I've been on this 1st board for about an 1 hour now. Nioh got off the boat & now I'm at level 5, just fighting this one part over & over. So, we'll see again, thanks for the info
Reaching max Familiarity on weapons and then selling them at the shrine increases your chance of getting elixers and higher amounts of Amrita. Eight elixers are the max default. 'Unlimited Elixers' stat on your trinket helps too.
***** great info! Thanks! Do anyone have a clue how to use those items on the bottom of the screen... 1 looks like a sword, the other is ninja stars, I went throw the whole menu screen & don't know what they are. They should have broke that down...unless I didn't get to the part to use that yet? Oh & magic? How in the world do I use magic, I haven't upgraded my ability for magic to be powerful yet, cause I haven't used it. Now, I've unlock that ball on the top left corner, when it fills, I hit triangle & circle for my weapon to turn 2 fire... but it wears off & I don't think that's my magic tho
+Snazzy Feathers You can see how desperate this guy is for somebody to react to his "boring, unoriginal, xbox troll that only squeakers participate in", by the way he jumped at you because you replied with just a simple "k". Haha! :-D I have a PS4 and Xbone. Love them both.
I've sold my Xboot... I feel like their headed where Dream cast ended... & another console that stole your money, that couldn't hack it against the Playstation. Sony just have too many small developer's, that's making great fricking games. Look at Naughty Dog... I heard Sony signed them back in the 90's, & pretty much locked them in cause they saw they're potential. Fast forward 15 years later, those guys are making Uncharted & the Last Of Us...smh. Crazy... I don't even know how they signed Team Ninja? But I'm glad they did...
@@packbackmusic that's fine in a game like Dark Souls because, in the grand scheme, there aren't that many systems to learn and some of them can be disregarded (like multiplayer). But Nioh has SO many systems that it feels complicated for the sake of being complicated since it barely explains anything. The Souls games feel more organic with its systems where Nioh feels like it piled a bunch of systems together to be artificially complicated.
V-LIFE TV Hard to say since they're two completely different games. Nioh doesn't even have PvP at the moment, it's planned to come along later. For Honor, meanwhile, is almost entirely PvP. Very different games.
+V-LIFE TV Sure, game with a handful of modes and even less playable characters has a LOT of longevity. Lmao, please. For Honor is Titanfall 1 all over again.
Excellent video man, I have been reading and trying things in the blacksmith for ages. You just made my life much easier, thank you! All the other hints and tips you mentioned are also fantastic. Subscribe confirmed
Most important too that I just learned, and it's great. Do NOT worry about anything until you beat the game at least once. Play around with everything, put points wherever you want, get all kodamas, and have fun! Even if you wanted to, min/maxing in ng or ng+ will only end up costing you a lot of time and money that will end up being wasted. Instead, spend the time learning the mechanics of everything.
Yea I finished Mortal Shell a week ago it was my first souls game which I was able to complete and loved it, it was simple and made me wanna try other souls games so today I bought Nioh and after a long prologue which I thought was the start of the game and I would keep my armor and stuff I grinded then they took it all and I was kinda pissed and then came the long tutorial and like the gun and bow and stances, it’s too much now I haven’t played enough to form an opinion but it’s too complicated I wish it was simple like dark souls or any other FromSoftware games
Fighting, dodging and timing attacks is no problem, but the other stuff is just to much. If I wanna play a complex RPG there are better games out there. They made it to complex for an action game, not going to bother with it.
Thanks for this awesome video, FC I've been playing Nioh now for a couple of hours (6-7) and have just beaten the first boss. So just unlocked the blacksmith and was wondering how it all worked. Your video helps me a lot. Thanks
I appreciate your video but you're still talking like we know what the f*** you're talking about. I just heard of the game and half the words you're saying don't even make any sense so saying it's for beginners doesn't really help
all you have to do is watch the video first. unless you're playing while he's talking? He's literally showing you what he's talking about as he's talking about it. idk worked for me.
Bro Nioh is awesome! I always come to your channel when I get stuck on a Souls like or need clarification for shit. This was a huge help man so thx! Glad you like Metal Gear Rising btw. That game is pretty sick.
Just started Nioh because I was interested in a soulslike after playing souls games for so long. Very good game, raises a bit too many questions but this video answered them all!
the blacksmithing mechanics are amazing. I've gotten a weapon with high damage but bad bonuses and with reforging it became a lightning based weapon with awesome mid attack bonuses.
