Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been in and out of several meetings ahead of the full Budget in July. In one such pre-budget consultation meeting, the Financial market players presented their views to FM, asking for a hike in Securities Transaction Tax (STT) for high-frequency traders.

If they are curbing the trades of Retailers. It is wrong. As per the announcement of SEBI 9 out of 10 traders are making loss. The 1% profit making traders are paying 15-50% towards transaction costs. Then from whom they are going to get the tax.

Current administration and FM acting as if investors and traders are their ATM. Kabhi bhi aao aur paisa withdraw kar lo. There is no social security system in India, where else are people supposed to invest so as to make a decent retirement corpus. However, this government will not allow you to invest with peace of mind. There is always the dangling knife of taxation after each transaction which eats away from your corpus.

Subramanyam great reply. At least one man has the guts to say it is for making more money by Govt. Can they ban lottery, gaming etc😀 if someone can educate with examples that small retailers can make good money safely by clever investment and not fno. The themes play so well even in good stocks that 100% return PA is definitely possible. If govt seriously interested in retailers then sebi should give live session daily with recommendations by very good analysts for med and longterm only and ban a host of guys who misguide people. Also ban analysts in zee and cnbc from giving intraday and btst trade advice. This will get sebi lot of business 😮😮

If you want Retailers to lose less ... reduce the lot size to apprx 2lakhs per lot ... small lot size will result in a small loss/profit and start a education/training campaign.. this is the best solution.... or even better resolution.. dont do anything and maintain a status quo as a policy continuity signal .

It is not to save retail investors but to protect Corporate interest, Now Retail FNO investments started controlling the market some times, this the DII or FII corporates do not like. Since this Govt is not for common people but for Corporates , they will definitely introduce more taxes and will say that it is to save retail investors.
