Rajya Sabha, in its first sitting in the new Parliament building, witnessed sparring between Mallikarjun Kharge and Nirmala Sitharaman after the former’s remarks that political parties picked “weak women” as candidates and “won't choose those who're educated and can fight.” “Largely, ladies from backward and scheduled castes are not that literate. Their literacy rate is low, because of which all political parties have a habit of nominating weak women,” Kharge, who is Leader of Opposition in the Upper House, said. Reacting to Kharge's remarks, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on behalf of her party, the BJP registered a strong protest stating that Kharge’s “sweeping statement” was “absolutely unacceptable.”

The reason that is a bad argument is, this bill of reservation for women does not apply to Rajya Sabha members. It is only applicable for Lok Sabha. Minister Nirmala Sitaraman is a Rajya Sabha member.

Education, politics, government jobs in all areas, reservations are there. Under reservation people belonging to the minority religion have reservations. So illegal immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar can benefit from these reservations but not economically under developed indians. So in order to bring the real benefit to the people of india. 1. India should implement the NRC,CAA act first. This will not completely eradicate illegal immigrants but somewhat mitigate the issue. 2. Conduct the population census. To really get a picture who really are minorities. 3. Please re-design our reservation based on one's economic status not on caste,religion or some other factor.

They should have bill to remove all reservations by 2029 or 2034• Not this regressive idea of introducing bills• Another thing that needs to be done is women across hindu communities and Shudra across country are treated as equal when it comes to learning anything religious from vedas or doing any sansakaars• Plus all the notions of women getting married and moving into man s house be made flexible, let them decide who move where• man should be allowed to take gotra of woman etc marriage be treated more of equal partnership• That will solve most of the social discriminiation• No reservation will be required• India has become land of reservations unfortunately rather creating an ecosystem where reservations are not required•

They are not asking for reservations for all women that's the whole point of the Debate. How often have we seen empowered honorable Rastrapati Draupadi Murmu jee take a stand on anything? There have been numerous instances where she could have. To make things worse, the ruling party did away with the power of the honorable President of India to head the armed forces and appointed CDS instead. What kind of empowerment is that? A leader representative from a backward community is chosen for a rubberstamp position to disguise the reluctance of the government towards the women and minority and backward class representatives.

Though i dont like the present Cong Party, Karge's generalized statement on political party is correct. Take an example of Municipally elected women candidates. . Can they work independently with out the approval of their Husbend's . Its just not possible in India. President level ,MP leval empowerment for women is a different thing altogether.
