This is the one of the two times Nirvana played Reading that should have been professionally recorded. Much more energy from the band, Eugene from The Vaselins came on stage to sing along on a cover of their song, and they had a frigging interpret dancer named Tony. Oh, and that moment when Kurt jumpet into the drums is just epic!

It was worse for him, 'cos he knew he didn't deserved to be set as idol. In my modest opinion, NO ONE has ever reached or surpassed this damn wrecking creative distorted universal sound, that level of immediate “face to face” expression, freestyle approach to dogmatic state of mind. Kurt’s “cryptic” lyrics reveal the soul making it “naked” & so it resonates unwaveringly indomitably strong like a spiritual riffle which leaves you without a breath and words. I’ve been listening to them for years and literally nothing has ever changed in my perception of this unique and very influential band. I can almost recognize their chords, rhythm sections and vocal parts in many alternative bands worldwide. From Seattle to Moldavia. ❤Awesome indeed. And I’m so happy about it. ✨💫

Alka-Young He hated Nirvana and Kurt because Kurt in 1992 declined to be an open act for the G'n'R tour and Alx got really pissed. They had an incident in MTv VMA 1992 backstage. Just search for the ''kurt cobain talking about axl rose'' and then ''Axl Rose - talks about Kurt Cobain'' on the youtube. ;)

@news4usunshine
@news4usunshine 8 лет назад
***** What you personally think of the song is immaterial. The fact remains that Smells Like Teen Spirit was a MONSTER hit that elevated Nirvana from just another Seattle grunge band into a global phenomenon. It did so because it was a great and incredibly catchy song. The fact that Nirvana also had many other great songs is irrelevant. SLTS is the one that made them.

+Noire For the same reason that I once in about '90 took Bleach to a party attended by straight people, who told me, and I quote: ``Get that shit off.'' I didn't. Then Nevermind came out - great LP - and everybody, including no doubt some of those same straight people, bought it.

Locke TM He has said numerous times he hated it. It was the reason In Utero was as anti mainstream as it was, to drive away the fans of nevermind who didn't like the other albums. Let's not forget due to his fame. SLTS was everywhere and he fucking loathed the song in almost every live performance from 92 onwards he intentionally screwed up part of it just to fuck over people who only came for that song. Not to mention he has an extreme dedication to punk and was extremely paranoid about nirvana selling out with all the fame.
