i always considered Novoselic bass playing to be influenced by Paul McCartney. If you add Grohl's Zeppelin-esque chops, you start to realize why Nirvana were a great band. they had the yin and yang of rock n' roll, strong melodies with a lot of power. it gets to your soul.
Isn't it sad that this version says "IM MARRIED!" As if he's excited almost, then by the time they recorded the studio version it changed to "married, buried" :(
@@USCFlash Yeah people always overanalyze this stuff, especially when it comes to Courtney. They have to find any way possible to insult her apparently, kinda pathetic really.
@@90sArchive agreed, like a good amount of Kurt's lyrics are about him dealing with depression... somehow they bypass that when analyzing what happened on those months of 94 :/
My god, how beautiful. I hope that if a 20th anniversary CD package is released for In Utero, this version of All Apologies is on it. Kurt's liberating pop essence really shines through in this song. Happy Belated Birthday, Kurt. You are dearly missed.
i have something like 127 nirvana botlegs, imports and shit, and i have never heard this. crazy there i really still shit out there i havent heard. thats awesome tho! i wanna hear more shit ih avent heard. but it never happens. like, in the last .... i couldnt tell you. ten years this is first time i heard something, i havent before. since you know your right actualy. i think. well, some shit on with the lights out, so sinecc that came out.
I once heard a version of ivy league with vocals on some platform once Downloaded on an old phone but it broke Never have I had the chance to listen to that again It was an actual rarity as it was 100% him on the studio Dunno why they have only released the instrumental version tho. Hope to listen to it again sometime
I'm glad they toned down the cheese for the album. There seems to be a trend on youtube that whenever an earlier or alternate version of a song comes on everyone goes "this is so much better than the album version" You're wrong. This is NOT better than the version on the album. It's just an interesting piece of the song's development.
How hasn't anyone professionally synced the vocals from the studio album with this?! I'm aware that these are in different tuning and tempo but I'd reckon it'll still fit once matched.
They never really tracked to metronome so the two tempos would be entirely different. And they would fluctuate a lot, which is the bigger problem. So aligning them would probably need some AI technology or very very meticulous manual work
Pat didn't join Nirvana until they were on tour after In Utero's release. I think it is just an overdub. If you listen to the Rio demos or the actual In Utero album you will hear two guitars much of the time. I like the live phase they had with Pat, it made their live shows sound more like their studio stuff.
I agree, it's definitely Kurt's vocals. I really like this version of "All Apologies". It's very good. The key change, along with the tambourine, make it sound more upbeat. :)
ow wow it sounds totally different... much more lighter and happier...lol it's really good, but I think I like the other version better. I agree, though they should've experimented with stuff like this more, though I love how they are now!~
wow this is amazing, altho i rly love every nirvana song and their style, they should of done more songs like this, especially since its like the beatles and they rock!!!
Why are the scratch vocals at such a better volume on this old bootlegs than the official release and other bootlegs? Am I tripping or are the vocals much better sounding on this version?
krist's 7th chord strumming made it sounded very folky, he should've played guitar way more..this song with his guitar playing sounds even better than the other version where he played bass guitar..
I'm not saying the other version is bad, I like both versions. I meant that this version is more upbeat livelier then the other one. The other one is more mellow. lol.
Anyone know why they almost silenced Kurt's singing on the In Utero Re-issue? I mean in this recording which I assume is the original you can clearly hear him singing. In the Re-issue though they almost silenced him. Anyone know why? This video has better sound the the Re-Issue does.
the mixdown that the nirvana estate has is probably a different mix than what you hear here (where craig M emphasized the instrumental over the vocals in that mix). this particular tape was found in kurt's trash a few weeks after he died, while the mix that ended up on the album was probably from a different tape. the original masters appear to have been lost, so this is as good as it will get.
i agree. a+ on the quote there. only the hip know. this will probably be on a cd one day with a bunch of others from this practice. i saw them once on 11-27-1993. there is a bunch of songs from that show on you tube now. god i'm getting old..haha.
@herohammer no he was hard working... he Wasnt just ohhh im going to do this.. he wanted to be famous... some people say he was alittle bummed from being famous because nothin' changed.. he was still from a divorced family, and personal stuff was the same... im not sure about all of that but i know he liked his song being perfect... and he made his songs so easy to play.. he describes them as "A childs song. you learn as a kid"
@MALAM777 actually it is. This demo was recorded with craig montgomery. It is a folkish sound cobain eventually started to strive for.. he only put attitude and a rock sound to his music to soothe his bullshit audience. Deep down you know he wanted very sensitive tunes with real instruments.
true story - this demo was found in cobain's garbage/trash shortly after he died by a trader/bootlegger, and that's how we are lucky to be hearing this today.
