Chino Moreno from Deftones was here? "What was the first ever Deftones show like?" “We played a show at a neat, local place here in Sacramento, The Cattle Club. It was maybe a 250-capacity room, but we had seen many great shows there. I saw Smashing Pumpkins there, I saw Nirvana there. When bands used to come through Sacramento, that’s where they played." This is where we hung out in the 90s if you lived in sac. I was at this show, not because I knew Nirvana, but because there was simply nothing else to do there. Mazzy Star, Pearl Jam (Mookie Blaylock), primus, Green Day, The Roots, Live, Alice In Chains…. all those bands and more played there. And if you were a teen in the 90s in sac, you were there too. The ska scene there was nice. That was definitely more my crowd.

To think this show is in 1990 and that Kurt at 23 is already artistically mature and essentially a musical revolutionary that will be discovered by the world less than two years later.

Was Jerry promoting when you were playing? There were a lot of amazing bands that came through 86-94. Primus, Janes Addiction, RHCP, Pearl Jam...the list goes on and on. It really was a magical time.

Kurt looked so defeated for a second when he thought his strap broke.😌 All he cared about was music at this point and I wish that could have lasted past 1991.

In 1990 i was 15, listening to Dj Magic Mike (Miami), 2 Live Crew, Masta Ace, etc., livin' in St. Petersburg Fl. While this cool shit was happening in California. Damn my location & friends. Ha. But not to much later a cute blonde punker chick gave me a solid white re-recorded cassette tape with extra small pen writing around the edges of the tape, with the words: the descendents milo goes to college.. i still think about that bleach blond punker chick..

I remember being at this show...didn't think it was anything special at the time...most of my friends had Ben play in there and a lot of awesome bands and they wenrt very hardcore...but still cool I guess...man...look at Dave groul then an now...pretty awesome to see doo many bands there before they were big...aloh..!! :-)

+Racabana Rocks Looks like Chad Channing on drums. He was still in the band for half of 1990 as I saw them around the same time in Portland(actually a couple of days before this show). After referring to Nirvana live guide, this would be with Chad on drums. Definitely not as tight as with Dave, but I preferred Nirvana with Chad or Dale Crover on drums. Dave Grohl's first show was on 10/11/1990 in Olympia, WA which is about the time I remember him in the band. Dale Crover was by the far the best drummer for Nirvana, but The Melvins had to be a more interesting band to be a part of. At least their shows were more remarkable to me.

uaetub it was a gay bar called Bojangles all the time . When Jerry Perry booked shows there it was called the Cattle Club on the nights that bands were playing

i've watched a lot of these. some classic stuff on this one. the guitar failure at the outset, still working out polly, the mic stand fall on mollys lips. kurts voice as in many of the earlier performances still strong and not straining like in later shows. always see something interesting in the 90 - 91 shows. thanks

In the beginning, seeing Kurt hand the other members the setlist somehow that little detail adds so much to the experience of watching this video. It builds the anticipation. So cool!
