I love that Kurt was always making real art with his songs, there is nothing in Nirvana's early work that says "we are trying to write pleasant hit songs that will be played on the radio." They just do it because they believe in it. It's pure.
I actually like the bleach/insecticide era more than in utero and nevermind tbh. Don't get me wrong those are also some pretty good albums but naturally i just prefer their metal-esk songs
@@ChristopherGray00 Exactly. For me it's the darker sound of it. Not a "poppie" as the later albums. That's just my opinion though. I'll bet Nevermind turned a lot of people on to their older stuff.
@@bloodromance4776 The fact you think i am trying to be look like anything for saying how good i think the albums are kinda says a lot about you, being a contrarian just to look cool in front of people.
@TheBluearmy33 - You're Not Alone! And you know the more I listen to old melvins ,and old Nirvana(I cant help but Think That Dale's distinctive drum sound, was exactly what Kurt Really wanted- But Dale was already in Melvins,So when They found D. Growhl -Kurt Basically Asked for that,(Daves best Crover impersonation)while still allowing musical Freedom....
FOR SOME REASON I GOT TEARS IN MY EYES LISTENING TO THIS... I DON'T REMEMBER THIS SONG & I AM A HUGE NIRVANA FAN, KURT DOING THAT JUMP WAS JUST PURE MAGIC!! LOVE 💖 EARLY NIRVANA STUFF... R.I.P. 😇 KURT 😇 YOU WERE 1 OF A KIND & YOUR MUSIC IS TIMELESS!!!
It's like the Motorhead film where Lemmy said about his stove - "It's from the 60's but it hasn't been cleaned since the 50's !". And to be honest, i think you have a good grip on what nostalgia really is. It's BS. really. But also not because it means something.
i walked by that there quite a bit and went inside sometimes but it was kinda small store and electronics not what they are now in 1988 or 89 plus they cost 5 times as much or more. but i didnt hear of Nirvana til 1989 or 90 b4 Nevermind came out some new kid in 9th grade had Nirvana on his book cover no one knew who it was. He didnt even know theyre from up the road he only knew from Seattle and the Bleach album. I kinda remember maybe seeing the Pen Cap Chew name on flyers for the Artic tavern or McCleary VFW maybe and all that it seems like I do.I never got into going to those like some my friends. Every time if I tried to mosh slam dance and thrash around id get hurt.I still have numbness above my hip on my side like the top of my right butt cheek from landing on an old couch arm rest where the padding was gone. that would of been from 26 years ago. no good. i tried a listen to that Dylan Carlson partner of his band Earth, definitely interesting. he is way into a musical concept called "minimalism" apparently...
Leo. I'm American. In 1995 I was 25 years old. I've been playing drums since 1985. I'm sure that I am not only speaking for myself, but I would love to see your video. Why don't you post it and leave a link to it on here.
ok I've never posted video on the internet but i will try. Problem in 1995 I didn't know the lyrics and I didn't know to speak English - I'm a bit ashamed :))
i went through my whole teens and 20s thinking nirvana were trendy pop compared to the extreme metal i was into. Compared to the watered down pc mainstream crap today these guys are basically morbid angel. they would have no chance in 2020. i feel sorry for young kids today.
@@mrtvyymuz well you just have to find great modern music like Dream Theater, Haken, Cannibal Corpse, Municipal Waste and many others. In the metal world, there are many bands still making great music even if it's 2020.
I think you have most likely by passed a lot of music that has came out in the recent years. The underground rap scene, $uicideboy$, xxxtentacion, lil peep, ghostemane. They have all made very "non pc" music that has made some of the most reputable waves in modern music since people like nirvana. If you can perceive Nirvana as being poppy and trendy, which I guess some of their stuff was. You can defo be prone to just dismissing others music for the same reasons. Nirvana's poppy songs are still bangers doesn't matter if its trendy.
I had a silver-bottom bootleg cd of this on a 20+ track session titled NIRVANA... How All Started". This track was written down as "The Extreme". CD also had multiple takes of Pen Cap Chew, Blandest and the best version of "D7" ever where the electric guitar cuts out for 15 seconds and it's just Kurt's voice echoing to drum tracks before the guitar comes back screaming fuzzy punk distortion. CD was in my backseat. A friend of mine that always tried to get laid got in the car and asked me to give a lady he literally just talked to for 20 seconds a drive. After she was dropped off and disappeared, I realized she had stolen the NIRVANA bootleg. BITCH! I paid like $80 for that in the mid-90's.
Once you do something once there’s no reason to do it again. Like when Jim Morrison sang “we can’t get much higher” on Ed Sullivan (when told not to) they told him “you’ll never play Ed Sullivan again”. Jim said, we just played Ed Sullivan. Get it. Lol.
StephenAndrew777 everyone says that about all their songs. He was just a great songwriter, and guitar player too super underrated guitar player You don't have to be a guitar hero to be iconic
I Admit that the flying Cobain-kid appearance put a smile on me same way this awesome song did but C'MON that was very VERY BLEACH studio song in the background anyway love that Guitar i know Kurt used a lot on the 80s does anyone knows the brand of that Guitar?? i really love those rare SG looking type of guitars wish Cobain never stopped using those
This first time I heard this song !!!! I love it ! And it’s one of my favorite songs already they killed this there legends for eternity I love nirvana so much 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah, this song was widely bootlegged at first, it initially opened up the first Outcesticde CD, later getting an official release on "With the Lights Out" (as well as "Pen Cap Chew recorded in same sessions"). Was recorded at Reciprocal Recordings on January 23rd, 1988 in Seattle, Jack Endino producing. The band was recording this under the name Ted Ed Fred, the line up being Kurt, Krist and Dale Crover on drums. The song was not recorded after that though, was not a song Cobain was fond of. The full radioshack video is up as well, basically Two takes of "If You Must" and 2 takes of "Paper Cuts", looks like the reason for the same of filming a music video as seen here, which is just a mock up of how it could have looked.
@@maggotmeatballz2692 No, this is Nirvana, the song is on the With The Lights Out Boxset. This is just some shitty early career attempt at making a music video.
Matthew Clark it’s not live. It was made as a promo video. There are no mics on the drums, the bass and guitar aren’t plugged in and kurt is mixing his vocals. Watch near the end when moves away from the mic and his is still as loud as it was when he was directly in front of mic
I was joking...I was in a silly mood when I wrote that... I should have made it more clear or not said anything. Thank you for the honest reply though, and you were right about everything.
This is definitive. Looking back, my heart is right here with this clip. Young, genuine, genius expression. I am 48. This makes me feel 17 again. This is the heart of nirvana. Everything after was the epilogue.
The best Nirvana tunes never made it to a commercial release (excluding the post-mortem "With The Lights Out" of course)......this one, Blandest, Pen Cap Chew, Oh The Guilt, Moist Vagina (Marijuana, whatever), Sappy, Old Age, Marigold, all awesome
