I lived in Bremerton Washington in the early 90s. I remember the rise of Grunge from Big Hair. It was an interesting time for music. But if you lived anywhere near the Puget Sound, it was either Sir Mix Alot, or Nirvana. I was in middle school, Central Kitsap MS. You weren't anyone unless you had a pair of Dr. Martins, really wide pant legs or Cross Colors. A Walkman cassette player, a Motorola pager, and a Skate Board. My friends and I would ride our boards to the Ferry, then ride the Ferry across the Sound to Seattle. There we would hook up with random people and do nothing at the waterfront. When Nirvana hit the scene, the buzz seemed immediate. I remember attending some event where they performed and it was magic. It was all we could talk about as kids. The new Rock. Bone thugs had just come out too, and that changed so much. It seemed to all end around the same time with Easy and Kurt 😢. But when I listen to my Favorite, In Bloom, it brings it all back.

RIP One of my dads favorite bands.... he died of a drug overdose a couple years back. He used to play guitar and wasnt the best dad but, damn, i loved him. I feel like this song is kind of a part of me after hearing it so much in my childhood. Nirvana kind of represents my dad. Everytime i listen to their songs i think of my dad and i get a sad nostalgia of when i was young and we were happy together.
