this song is called a COVER. it's not meant to sound like the original , it's meant to sound like Daniela's own style. it's absolutely beautiful and if you don't like it, don't watch it. simple as that.

The great thing about this cover for me, is that I feel the same weight I felt for the original. Honestly I love this cover if I want to vibe out to a more dramatic tone. The original is if I'm up for a rocking time. So I find this amazing. How a cover should be. A masterpiece twisted and transformed into a new work of art.

"Kurt would have hated this" "Kurt would have loved this" People need to understand that you can't say what he would have wanted. He's dead. I know that sounds harsh but it's the truth. Nirvana is one of my favorite bands, Does this cover do smells like teens spirit justice? No. But it's a COVER. Covers don't need to sound exactly like the song. She has a beautiful voice and this is a great COVER. Let me say that again COVER. Stop hating on this. The original and this cover are in two different categories. Each amazing on their own. Do they sound completely different? Yes. But that's fine, just because she covered a song doesn't mean she had to make it sound just like the original. It's not like she is going to put on her best Kurt Cobain impression and start singing. Y'all need to chill and enjoy the music

...regarding comments before mine... i had conversation the other day about this exact same thing. Someone was commmenting on a different music cover and said "Bach would have been ashamed." blah blah blah. I dont think ANYYYYY artist/songwriter would feel negatively about someone singing their music. Even if the singer/musician was incredibly bad at it. They would probably be extremely honored, that someone enjoyed their music enough to play it themselves. The beautiful thing about music/art is it is always interpreted differently by each person... There is no 'right and wrong'... Anybody who covers a song by an artist/band as well known as Nirvana- should be given credit. Performing for your mother or father is hard enough, this girl is sharing this video with the entire world- THAT takes some serious guts.. Anyone who has anything shitty to say- oughtta reevaluate their thought process.

Wow - Am I telling my age by introducing the "unplugged" concept to a discussion on musical tastes? Surely this concept isn't just for old musicians trying to impress each other with their "range"? ;-) Whatever - some artists have a talent for this "genre" (like Eric Clapton, for example, covering his own *classic* rockin' blues standards sometimes with only an acoustic guitar and a wooden chair, sometimes with an ensemble). Daniela is clearly in this camp. And not only are her covers tastefully inspired, her voicings are also a pure delight to just listen to (over and over again). I'm a few years late arriving at the table just now to discover her talent, but thank goodness I still know talent when I hear it! :-)

I really hate the people in here who are bitching over how this cover isn't good enough because they have some standard for it, music isn't about you it's about striking an emotion and it does that, we don't care if Kurt would've liked it or not because if he didn't want people to cover his songs he should've stayed a washed out school janitor, I personally think this is beautiful.

@@seeelise As someone born in '87 and not fully losing my shit in that deep way, ya know, til I'll never forget....a week of Carmen Electra Hosting a 5 part VH1 Best Bands of Hard Rock ......dude I stayed home from school all week just to watch it bc I heard so much of this music growing up (2 older cousins- one did the Woodstock '94 thing even...with her mom lol- my aunt was the badass putting on the Alice and Chains haha...RIP, hate that I gotta say I mean that for multiple AIC dudes-Layne's voice....enough said. But I meant it for my aunt) Still i was 4-8 yrs younger than my cousins but when I spent that week at home and all the puzzle pieces of, "Oh that's who sings that song" and "I remember this!....then came #6(I'm like 99.9% sure) but it Nirvana and Every song clip like set of something and totally did that thing I wish I could name better bc I know most people feel it too. The thin when it is music that you don't just enjoy singing along or dancing or w/e-that's great and needed- but w/e ur thing is I mean when you find that music that can change your mood in a few beats. That was and forever will be Nirvana for me. Looking back it prob be good if I was a little better wit fractions .....nope wouldn't change that week for anything totally changed a part of who i am. Usually I appreciate Nirvana covers especially ones done not to ONLY try to sound the exact same but bring whatever it is new to it sadly its hard and hasn't ever landed for me as much as this one. And I LOVE Tori Amos - "Spark" is my jam, well one of many. Thank you for making it thru this slightly unfocused ramble and for your trouble and endless patience you win a lovely football phone and a year's supply of turtle wax! 🎉🎊 !🐢 🏈+☎! Don't ask me why when it comes to RU-vid comments which I don't make many (I'm sure you can see y) random, some might say slightly uhh, weird as fuck shit just comes to mind but at 33 years Ill finally admit- as to weird: there is no cure so....enjoy? wow, that was awesome! With your voice and accoustic, a beautiful version of this song (which I dare to say it's as good as the original, but in the other side, not heavy and grungy). And one thing is that you've played it with F and Bb both Major, which is quite simple to see but i had never considered to play like this, I aways saw them minor, which sounds more "sad" and "dark". That way you played gives the song a whole new feeling (and matching with the accoustic). I loved it!

I have hated every single slowed-down version of Smells Like Teen Spirit....... and then I heard this. Daniela, I absolutely love how you tweaked certain elements. Post-chorus you make it your own, and make it work with the style. You also make a slight stretch in singing "I feel stupid" which gives the chorus less repetition (which is always the danger of slowing down songs). Basically, I'm amazed and really loved this. Gonna revisit this one a whole lot!

Have all of these people never heard of Richard Cheese? Those songs aren't originally meant to be lounge music, but that's what HE DOES. He makes NON-lounge music into lounge music. And is good at it. One of my favourites by him is Down with the Sickness. The whole point in covers is to sing the song YOUR OWN way, and I LOVE hearing songs done differently. It's amazing getting a different feel to the lyrics, just by changing the tone of the music. I personally love her covers. They're different on purpose.
