Lol, true... For those who don't know drums & bass are (were) usually the way most rock is recorded, getting the groove down first and above all. A rhythm guitar and "scratch" vocal may play on the first take too, but with little intention of being final takes. Analog multitrack track was near its pinnacle in 1991, with 48 tracks common with all kinds of automation and lower tech versions of "cheats" that computers too. I'm just curious how many takes it took for David Grohl to get the drums down, or if they cut many tracks together - but I don't say that to judge Dave, he was solid enough live, great feel, so probably nothing out of the ordinary. Everything is a perfect balance between actual human ability with the ability to do some "cheats", but in a much more organic and limited way. Can you imagine how dull this would sound with quantization (and pitch correction?) And NO WAY drums would be mixed that smashing loud relative to the vocals in modern rock music - that went out of fashion around 1992-93, and In Utero is a slightly more refined drum sound, for example...
@@russkate88 I'm not joking, you can practice the guitar part really well with videos like this playing the other parts. If you practice by playing along to the whole song you can confuse what you're playing for the guitar part you can hear, and if you practice with nothing you can embed the wrong tempo.
