Deliberate Head Contact like a cross check to the helmet is usually worth at least 3. The last time I checked the face and jaw were part of the head. Kadri got bounced from the whole Bruins-Leafs series last year for a lot less than that. Did I mention that he broke his JAW?
@@listentothis4961 i think if you take a guy out for the rest of the playoffs because you purposely hit him in the head . then you also take however long till that player you knocked out comes back. that is fair. now if it was by accident then that's a different story. but you can tell he wanted to crush him.
It is insane the amount of dirty stick work going on in this years playoffs. The two handed crosschecking seems to have replaced most of the body contact. As far as I am concerned the amount of time Gallagher is off, Niskanan should be off for the same. The face injuries are crazy in the NHL now. I dont know how much longer the face mask will be considered stupid but it sure would fix the injury issue.
Niskanen got 1 game for the make-up non-call. It’s not more than one game suspension cuz Gallagher turned around last second on the cross check. The intent was not there. This was more like a freak accident.
Way worst than what Kotkaniemi got 5 min major and a games misconduct for . In the play-offs, 3 games suspension should be the minimum as the players actions might be done with intent to injure as this one was . One game cause it was Gallagher , maybe three games if it was Stamkos a the receiving end. There was penalty called on this play.
I say he should get however long you knock out that player for. a player for a player. a hit for a hit. if you want to purposely go and attack someone in the head because you upset and knock him out for the rest of the playoffs. then you also need to be out for how long you knocked that player out for.
Slowed down its clearly not an intentional head shot. The cross check was initiated less than a second before Gallagher turned his head. Penalty and short suspension sure but intentional no.

This was unprovoked. Let's see...Niskanen suspended by NHL PS for 1 game. Gallagher out at least 2 games with a broken jaw. This is the way many Philly teams have tried to win - the goons. Take out players. Add up how many Cups the Flyers have and their strategy hasn't exactly amounted to success. If I were Philly, I wouldn't give MTL any more motivation to come back and win this series. Their coach and now best RW are out. And the refs win again - no penalty called on the Niskanen cross-check to the head! Laughable, but not inexcusable.
