I have a question I have an issue with my z31. When i put my ac on my car starts to overheat because of the ac being on, so than i shut it the it stops over heating. And also when i drive with the ac on when i push on the gas the vent blows hot air

Clean out your radiator really good, probably full of dirt/debris from driving

Wow! Nice video man! I have the same dash and I recently took it apart cause my temp gauge was stuck and when trying to put the rpm needle back on, the metal dowel snapped. Do you know where you can buy internal parts for these clusters?

From what I could tell, the dowel is plastic. You can get lucky gluing it back on but I parts for these are so scarce with no aftermarket support. You're best to take a piece of black plastic and glue it on with instant UV glue.

Thanks. Won't help me thought. Got analog cluster. Cable is fine, it rotates. The VSS by the battery is dead. Do you know if there is replacement/substitute, maybe from bicycle, other car? Original one is uncommon and used. Best wishes

Just about the same system except the motor is located in your vss box where as this motor is located in the actual vss on the trans. Most people don't realize the pin is missing from the cable in the vss box not causing it to work. If you run the same test I did on the outlet of the vss box, making sure it's turning, then you can see if it's ok. Replacing it has to be with a used module, they don't make them anymore. Super hard to find.

How were you able to get the speedometer needle to read near accurate when you put the cluster back together? Do you just put the needle back on zero when the cluster is powered?

Yup! That's exactly how. Leave the cover off and plug it in, place the needle on gently, then remove the dash and firmly press the needle back on, be very careful to only put force directly down, it's easy to bend the pin
