Great detailed review! I'm very disappointed in this app. The app for the Leaf was MUCH more informative and provided tons of useful data. This one so far is very minimal and does not correlate with the data directly from the vehicle. I hope they make a updates to improve ASAP!
I think it's totally suffice. What data are you missing? I used the old Leaf app once and it was super slow and laggy. Based on that, I prefer the new one (it is not only for Ariya but also for the Leaf by the way) I must say.
Hi from Belgium, Thanks again for your review. In the menatime I have taken delivery of my warm silver colored Ariya. Its been a busy three weeks and I have already covered 3000KM. The car is wonderful, very comfortable and the range seems good. I am not used to the fact that it calculates range based on driving style. But im sure I will! A couple of niggles. The colors of the onboard SATNAV are terrible. In night mode its almost impossible to locate the car amongst the background colors on the map. And there seems to be some general software issues. (Bluetooth in combination with SATNAV freezes). Is there anyway of reporting these back to NISSAN? Thanks again for the detailed reviews
Hi Peter, congratulations! Sorry to hear about the Bluetooth issue, I never had a problem with tbh, it's been absolutely flawless over 10000km and I had three different devices coupled with the car iOS and Android, so I don't suspect a software issue tbh. Sounds rather like your phone might be doing something weird or the bluetooth module of the car being defective...As far as I know, the best way is to report it to the dealer and they will see what has to be done next. I know that Nissan is monitoring new cars very closely, so they will certainly investigate. Concerning the map colors I do not agree, I'd say that's rather a matter of what you are used to and - ulitmately - taste. I never had any problems locating my car on the map to say the least. I guess you will get used to it...But if Nissan would give us custom map colors (I think the tom tom devices themselves had that) I won't oppose. Options are always good!
Hi. Great video and very informative. I collected my Ariya a few days ago so I’m new to this but the app I have looks same but is missing a number of functions. No indication of charge, locked status etc. I can turn on the climate control from the app but that’s about it. Any clues? I’m in the UK but not sure why the app would be different
Hmmm, curious...are you sure you have the correct one? Nissan put out quite a number of apps over the last years and some of them are still in the store for older vehicles...
Ok, that's the correct one. On Android, the current Version is 2.4.0, but you probably use an iPhone? Maybe there is something wonky with the iPhone one right now...if in doubt, deinstall and reinstall it, see if that fixes it...
Now I know it is the right app and the right version I’ll contact Nissan and see why I’ve got some bits missing. One thing I noticed within the app is Nissan store. Within is battery manager and remote control services. When I clicked on them it asked if I wanted to uninstall them so it looks like I have the right things but for some reason the areas you demonstrated are missing. Thanks for your help, I’ll let you know what their response is.
Aaaah, yeah, might be that they need to activate that stuff somehow or that it just takes some time until it works...in any case, they should be able to help you!
No, not possible, but also not needed. The Ariya has a 91kWh battery, but will only let you use 80kWh, so there are ca. 5kWh of top and ca. 6kWh of low end buffer available. That means you can happily charge that car to full capacity and drive it to almost empty over and over again. That's how its able to pull of that charging curve by the way. You payed for that range, and this car - opposed to a lot of others - actually lets you use it! Thanks for watching and commenting mate!
@@nissanelectrified9583 thanks for fast feedback... yea, but 5 kw upper buffer is like less then 10%, I usualy charge to 80% (so 20% + buffer (e- Golf) of buffer...), so I am not sure why they did not put that option, it is not rocket science and could prolonge the battery for aure.... I am interested in Ariya for primary car, but this is a bit bothering....🤔
@@nissanelectrified9583 This is awesome. Last month, we rented a Tesla Model 3. We were told not to let the battery drop below 10% and not to fully charge the battery to 100% (but charge to 90%). I said, “what the heck! There goes the range that I needed for my road trip.” 😅
Hi thanks for the great review. Just got my Ariya and with a home 7.4KW charger set at 80% the vehicle charged to 100%. Is this option not possible with this vehicle as I'm only seeing timer set charging on the vehicle?
Hi Michael, if your charger offers such a functionality and it doesn't work, I would say this is something the manufacturer of the charger should fix. AC charging via Type 2 is a standardized thing, so if they say they can offer charging to 80%, it should work with any car that has said Type 2 port (which Ariya has). That said, I don't see, why you wouldn't want to charge to 100%. Opposed to other EVs, Ariya can take it due to the large buffer. That's also the reason why there is no recommendation in the menu to only charge to 80%. Just use that range you paid for mate :)
It's the Nissan Connect Services app. The Connect EV app is the original Leaf app and is still in use for the older Leaf models I think. But it was rather horrible and I hear that to this day it's a bit of a pain to even get it to work. The Connect Services app will work with all modern Nissan models and can manage multiple cars, which is very nice. In classic Nissan fashion, they managed to screw up the list of supported vehicles in the app store though, where Ariya isn't even mentioned. If I have one gripe with Nissan, that it's the sloppiness of their IT/App department and their importers. That said, the current App really is very good and reliable. It took them a while, but they nailed it just in time to make this a good match for Ariya.
@@nissanelectrified9583 Ah thanks then I will put the Nissan Connect Services app in the phon. Do you perhaps know how to charge to 80% instead to 100% I heard you can't adjust that in the car. but is it possible to do that in the app.
It's not possible, but with Ariya it is not needed anyways. You can happily drive to 0 and charge to 100%, since due the buffers at the low and top end, you won't be running the cells themselves to 0 or 100% anyways. You paid for that range, don't be afraid to use it ;)
I am trying to open the app. It asks me a user ID and password. Apparently I use my email address as user ID. But I don't know my password, or if I even have one. However, there is no option in the app "Forgot password" or "reset password". Any ideas how to reset the password?
If there is no such option, you might be still in the "register for a new account" section of the app...in the log in section, there should be a link named "Forgot your password?" at the bottom of the screen...
Oh but that link is there. It's not a suggestion, I double checked it. If it's not there, you either have the wrong app, or you are looking in the wrong spot ;)
@@nissanelectrified9583 didn't see any such link. However I created an account on several other Nissan websites, don't remember which. Then the Nissan connect app accepted that User name and password. I don't know whether it is possible to recreate the issue, you'd have to delete all your Nissan accounts and enter the app as your very first Nissan Account.
If you delete the app and reinstall it (so the app doesn't know anything about any account), you will be greeted with a screen that gives you the opportunity to either log in or create an account. If you press on the log in button, you can input your user name and password, and under that it says "Forgot you password?". If not, again, that would be a problem on your side, the app works as intended in that regard. Anyway, glad you got it working! Don't be alarmed if not all features are available from the get go. It takes a few hours for the services to get activated.
