Nissan Frontier Tailgate Latch Repair

Great video, Thank you. (allow me to mention no need to remove bolts for tailgate hang cables. They each have tabs to take them off of the bolts)

Note - the two standoffs that the brace cables attach to do not need to be removed. The eye on the cable fits over a flange on the standoff that prevents it from vibrating off or coming off accidentally. there is a spring retainer finger that prevents the eye from being positioned so it can be disconnected. this finger can be gently lifted with a small screwdriver so it clears the end of the standoff, and then if the tailgate is lifted slightly, the eye can be positioned so the cutout can be lifted off the flange on the standoff on each end.

Same thing happened to mine. The piece fell in. I opened it up, and I cannot seem to find the piece.😂

Thanks for the video. It's very helpful. How do you remove the black bezel from the tail gate? The black plastic piece that runs along the top of the gate covers the bezel. I can't find any way on the inside of the gate to release the bezel or the plastic piece on top of the tail gate. Is the plastic piece glued to the top of the tail gate? If it is, how do I remove it?

Thanks for this video. Amazon claims that the part won’t fit a 2013 Frontier. Does anyone have confirmation that it will?

Curious as to why you need to remove the tailgate. Couldn't you just replace the handle with the tailgate in the down position?

I’ve looked on ebay and amazon for the part you have. Can’t find at either location. Can you help me locate it?

Do you have to get keys made for this new lock/ latch or will your keys fit ?
