I think it’s challenging to live in the modern world. But then there’s RU-vid videos to guide you through the process and you feel grateful for the helpfulness and connectedness out there. This how-to video reminds me of a refrigerator video I watched a few months ago. I’m betting there are so many more helpful how-to videos and this gives me confidence in the goodness of people.
For anyone where it didnt work I replaced the battery and it only worked when I put the key in the slot on the left hand side and started the car. After taking it out I could remotely lock/unlock my car
THANK YOU!!! Battery died this morning at Walgreens...I was so confused when I didn't see a battery. Me & the Walgreens employee watched your video, lol he helped me find the right battery..snapped it back together & BOOM! Back in action...6am adventures
Thank you so much for this video. My battery in my key just died and I was at a lost at what to do and did not want to pay a lot of money to get it fixed. This video helped so much. Thank you! This may sound cheesy but I feel empowered knowing that I can handle a situation with my car on my own!
This was a very useful video. Watched in a walmart parking lot before i bought the batteries...came back to the rogue and swapped right then and there. BIG THANK YOU!!!!
Thanks for this video! 3 years ago I paid $11 to have the dealership replace the battery. But after watching your video I was able to do this myself for $4. The hardest part was getting the battery out of the package 😂
I was about to make the same mistake jaja I panicked when this message popped up about low battery. I didn’t even know it had a battery that had to be replaced bc is not a problem i had to worried about before. It definitely made sense though, how else is it supposed to work. The video was really helpful!
Who would dislike this? and why? This man showing us how to do something good. Some people just have to be so negative. I like this vid. Thank you for making it. Great job!!!
This was helpful and straight to the point. Thank you so much! I miss just having a key that doesn't need a battery. I miss a lot of things that made life more simple. Thanks for helping make my situation a little simpler than some of the other videos!! Blessings to you and yours!!
Mine has been saying low battery for a month and I got stuck at Walmart and had to go on a change my battery I said next time I’ll buy a battery ahead of time they thought I was braking into somebody’s car.
This was extremely helpful! Thank you so much! My battery was dead, but I had absolutely no idea how to change it... or even what battery it was supposed to take (though, mine was a 2025, not 2032)... either way, thank you! I don't know why they need to make these things so complicated... and the dealership never even told me how to do it!
Thank you so much for this video, sir. I really didn’t want to have to give Nissan my last couple of dollars to change the battery. This was so helpful and straight to the point.
Thank you so much! If I had called my local Nissan dealership, they would've probably charged me for a new fob considering all my past dealings with them! And I love that you call the pop-out key a shank, lol, I thought I was the only one! Great video!
Thank you! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to pry it open or not. Now I know, thank you! As a tip for other viewers, I was able to use a key ring size grocery membership card to pry open the key and remove the battery. If you don't have a tiny flat head screwdriver, no worries! You can still get it out.
Just wanted to say thanks you for this video! I turned my car on one day and it gave me a low car key battery warning and freaked me out. Went to purchase batteries and watched this in store to make sure I bought the correct ones, got home and replaced battery myself. No more living in fear of my car key battery dying! Much appreciated :)
Feb 2023 cars dead because of cold and key for Nissan dead too. Your vid showed me it is safe to replace battery on my own (won’t screw up programming to cost me 350.00 for new key!) I just did it. Works as before. Got my car back. Thank you for posting this. Very kind of you.
Thanks for making this video. Some dealerships are vultures with how much they charge to just replace a battery. You saved me a lot of money so thank you!
you are a hero, thank you. I literally almost died bc my car locked up on the freeway due to the key not being detected. I didn't know the fob was even battery operated so I thought I wasn't going to be able to safely operate my car, then I found your video. Thank you!!!!
Thank you sooooo much! This morning my car was flashing no key and the last few days it was not locking properly. I finally realized it was the battery. I didn’t want to get ripped off from the dealership like times past, so I can on RU-vid and found your video. Thanks for your quick, simple and clear instructions. I’m on my way to Walgreens to do it myself 😊 and save time and money!!
Watched this video on my way to work. Stopped by a CVS and grabbed a Duracell 2032 battery. Used my knife to pry open apart the key fob. Took out the old battery and inserted the new battery. Done. Thanks @HowToCarGuy! Note: Duracell uses has a different prefix infront of 2032 so it is DL 2032. The factory ones are CR 2032. They're the same and it is just difference in naming and made by different companies.
SWEET! I am so glad this helped you and it was easy to follow. I especially like how you were able to get it done before you even got to work! Also, thanks for the heads up about the Duracell battery - very helpful! Brock
Thanks a million. I was pretty sure I was going to break the fob if I didn’t have this video. They could have at least given the fob an obvious design for opening the battery compartment, but instead it’s complicated and expensive to replace. I wish new cars were more simple. You’re a life saver. THANKS!!!
@@HowToCarGuy hey, my pleasure! I just checked back and I see you’ve got 100k by now. Congrats!!! That’s awesome. And thanks again for saving my key(from me). 😄
Thank you for this video! This is my first car with a battery key and I was so worried I'd have to take it somewhere to get on the road. But not even three minutes of my time was enough to fix it with my own two hands! Really appreciate you putting this out here.
Thanks! Wife’s car wouldn’t start this morning, and she was running late so she took my car. Her break was stiff and she got a key light symbol on the dash. I went back and used the key fob to tap the push button so the sensors were closer and the car started and then the breaks worked. You have to push the break to start the car but the battery in the key fob was low so he sensor wasn’t telling the car to release the break vacuum so they were stiff. Watched this video and you said to do the same thing so I now confirmed the battery in the key fob was bad. She drives a Nissan Versa Note 2018. It has a CR2025 installed. I have the same car but 2017 with a real key and upgraded rim size etc. Thanks for this video! Unfortunately I only have CR2032 laying around so I’ll have to make a quick trip to the store..
BTW, the CR2032 are exactly the same diameter and volt. They vary slightly in thickness. If it fits it will work and in our case, it fit. The battery was almost flush before snapping the circuit board side so I knew it wouldn't be an issue long term. What I mean is you don't want the thickness difference to bend the board once snapped together. Anyways, soon as I got to the car, it released the break vacuum so I knew it was working just fine. Hope this helps someone.

Let me just say this! When I needed you, you were right they are Brock. I had a dealership that was actually trying to charge me $45 to do this. Before I watched your video I thought they’d have to send off for another key fob,Or it was some sort of special battery that only they had. Not only did you save me money… But you let me know that I no longer need to go to that dealership. You my friend, are an angel.
@Flip DaScript I haven't changed the battery yet but it's low. So I'm researching but I had the feeling because it's a key fob and programed to the car that once I change the battery it would reset. Did the dealer say they have to program the key again?
I’ve been putting off getting my battery replaced bc I didn’t think I had the time or money to go to the dealer to get it fixed…this took me literally minutes! Just took a while to get the top off bc I was being extra careful not wanting to damage or crack it but once it popped open it was easy sailing! Thank you for this vid! No more having to pull the actual key out or manually locking the doors lol.
Thank you so much!! My dad kept on telling me he’d fix it when he had time, but after waiting a couple days I did it myself thanks to you!! Thank you so much for your assistance :)
wow, didn't know it could be so simple. Thank you so much for making this video. I was starting to stress about it when I saw the low battery indicator on my dashboard.
Excellent video!!!! PERFECT! Before I discovered this video there was another video from some other gentleman who showed you how to change a battery in the same fob. In that video you had to practically dismantle the entire Fob, I had miniature pressure springs popping out of everywhere and rolling on the floor. Trying to figure out how it went back together and keeping it lined up perfectly. All the while I'm trying to figure how NOT to tell my wife I destroyed a $100 Fob. Yikes! I guess what I'm trying to say is...it pays to watch more than one video on a subject before jumping in.
Thank you so much for sharing this video! Just changed the battery in my remote for the first time, and your instructions were very easy to follow. Thanks again!
I am a first time subscriber, but I wanted to let you know that I followed your video on how to replace my Nissan key fob by myself and it worked. About three years ago I went to the Nissan car dealership to have my battery on my Nissan fob replaced , and they charge me $20 I wish now that I had your video back then I would’ve save $20 thank you so much I truly appreciate your videotape it help me a lot😄☺️🤗 gladys
HUGE thanks for the simple, effective video. My wife now thinks she married a handyman/genius thanks to me following your instructions to fix her low-battery-level key fob. TY TY TY!!
Thank you!!! Soon after I got the car a few years ago, the dealer told me there was NO battery and I needed a new key fob! Thankfully the car was still under warranty or else it would of cost me dearly! Three years later, the car kept telling me "low key battery" and lately hasn't wanted to start right away. Thank you for saving me a 70 mile trip into the nearest dealer!
THANK YOU!! I had a Versa years ago and thought it was something like this, but couldn't remember exactly what I did to replace the battery. Mum's fob died for her new Kicks, and I was having a helluva a time. You're awesome! 👍
Thank you so much for your help…I was stuck, couldn’t get in my car and then once I discovered the hidden key I then couldn’t start the car lol your video helped me massively and saved me money rather than going to a dealership and getting robbed 😜 thanks again!
Seen this after I purchased a new $165 car battery for my daughters Versa. It was the dead battery on her key fob the whole time! Thank you, your video was very useful!
This saved me today!! Was in a hot car that wouldn't start. Luckily I had a replacement battery on me but took me forever to replace it till I saw this. Thanks!
Thank you for this video! The dealership was gonna change mine last time I took the car in and they definitely didn't and I couldn't figure out where to safely pry the key apart. Successfully got the battery changed and now I know how for next time! Thanks!
Thank you. Just recently got a key battery warning on my Altima. I figured it would be an expensive, tedious fix. Guess it isn't. Got an 8 pack of the batteries coming in from Amazon for under 6 bucks.
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING HOW TO DO THIS!!! I am currently driving my brother's nissan. The car has been saying for a while that the battery needs to be changed, but I didn't know how. Now I know how. THANKS!
I happen to have this type of battery just today because I bought a pair to use one on my scale hahaha and guess what I just did as I watch this video. I ran to my drawer and it was the same type of battery. In a minute I did this and my car key works now!!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you sir. this is a very instructive video and I'm sure it will save me a lot of money not taking it to the dealer or someone else that would charge a lot for changing a battery.
Thank you so much for making this video!!! You helped me today because I couldn't figure it where to put the battery after I removed the key. Thanks!!!
This really did help - thank you! I’d add, though, that you have to get the battery in & “seated” just right or it won’t work. I did this whole process & when it still didn’t work with new battery I was afraid my fob was the problem. After taking the battery out & looking more closely I could see there’s a perfect cradle that holds it in. After re- inserting battery all the as good ☺️
Evelyn Delasancha - Check Amazon and eBay. Be sure you buy from a seller with a lot of highly rated feedback and get the remote or Smart Key for the year/make/model of your car.
Thank you so much! I just got in my car and the dash alerted low battery. This is my first push start car, so I had a mini panic attack. You video was straight forward. I’m going to head to ACE and get a few batteries.
thank you.. i Took mine to the dealer but knew before they told me it was the battery..next time i will do it my self..very awesome of you to do this video
Thanks! I got stuck at work for 45 minutes couldn’t start my car because “low battery” but I repeatedly press the “start” button over & over again finally my car started & I hauled my ass home lol but I’m changing them today ASAP.
Super duper clear instructions! The message appeared on my dash. I followed your video. Luckily I had a screwdriver with a small enough head to fit into those tiny slots. Thanks for posting it. My 2015 Nissan Rogue is ready to go.
