Had this problem with our micra. Simple fix which worked for me. Blow out key entry hole with air line. Puff in some graphite powder, blow out again, more graphite powder, key in and wobble about. Blow out with air line another squirt of the powder. Now works every time. Video shows you what powder to use. Seems to be more of a problem with keyless cars. Pull off the cap to get key accesss.
I’m a trader. I had same problem on a Qashqai just now. Was yanking the barrel and fiddled the key blade in the slot numerous times only to realise after someone said press the foot brake before attempting it again. It worked lol.

I’ve just bought one of these my god the seller couldn’t explain it to me it’s sticky and annoying, if the door locks are keyless and the ignition is keyless what is the key blade for? I don’t understand and can’t find much on RU-vid about it. Thanks in 2023 with a 20 year old ULEZ compliant motor 👍🏼
I had this problem too, turns out the battery was nearly flat! That caused the ignition to stop just short turning off enough to allow the doors to lock.
My micra acenta 2004 1.2 car battery is down, I am charging it with a small charger, so far 5 hours and nothing. Probably needs more time. No electricity in the car at all. I got in with the mecanical key as the intelligent key wasn't working, but then when placed in to initiat ignition it won't work the key doesn't turn and the immobiliser won't unblock the steering wheel 😩 Would this oiling procedure help? Any advice would be so much appreciated.
a lot of these steering locks make thousands of people stranded . the good thing is that they are in fact uncomplicated to spot in addition to the upgraded component is not expensive . I have a do it yourself on it over at my channel too .

I just bought a micrq k12 2007 1.4 16v and it has keyless entry and go but it's missing that piece so the plastic ignition won't turn without key In it. Managed to fix it ? Are you sure it's just that cap?
