I can almost guarantee it's the bottom line running into the rad. They rust out and leak, I'm going through this right now. You're better off to buy 2' of 5/16" transmission house and replace it with that.
This is for the CVT equipped Micra, correct? As I understand it, the Canada model Micra for 2015 has a regular automatic (non-CVT) transmission, can anyone confirm?

Hi I have Micra 1.6 sv 2019 automatic and Im not able to find anywhere whats the transmission oil type. the Manual says to go to the dealership -.- do you know which one is it regular ATF?? Full-Synthetic? Which one can I use that its not the NISSAN brand? Cant find that bran here anywhere
Hi, thanks for a great tutorial! I wanted to ask, I have K13 (2014) Nissan Micra (1.2 DIG-S, 72KW), which requires CVT oil change... In the manual, it says use only genuine NISSAN NS-3 ATF oil, however, where I live, it is not available (or extremely expensive with long time to wait for delivery). Can alternative oil be used? Thanks!
FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, YOU HAVE DONE A TRANSMISSION FLUSH FIRST .BUT FOR THE REST, I THINK YOU WERE WRONG WHEN YOU FITTED BOTH THE OVERFLOW PIPE AND THE SUMP PLUG. YOU SHOULD HAVE PUT ONLY THE OVERFLOW PIPE FIRST, THEN FILL UP THE OIL TO 1.9 L, RUN THE ENGINE TILL THE OIL REACHES 40 -45 DEGREES C, ANY EXCESS OIL WOULD OVERFLOW THROUGH THE OVERFLOW PIPE AND AT 45 DEGREES C JUST QUICKLY REFIT THE SUMP PLUG AND YOU ARE DONE.
Yes your described procedure is right if you dont want to measure or are unsure if the amount of oil inside is right or no or have leaks. In my case its filled from factory and no leaks present thats why i measured it and filled whatever came out plus 100ml to compensate for measuring errors. 40-45 degrees are wrong. Service manual of jf414e states fluid temperature to be 35degrees at sensor. Roughly calculating heat transfer to area of sump and taking into consideration deviation from IR thermometer and outside temperature of minus 15 degrees will be 35-(cooling of sump area at minus15 degrees with wind speed of 12kmh at that moment)-deviation of IR THERMOMETER =~30. Thats why i stated at the beginning that oil was never changed from factory this is first time. But i totally agree with the procedure you described except fluid temperature as per manual its 35C.
Hi Surepic V - Did you ever research if your Micra has a transmission filter ? Did you use the trans oil supplied by Nissan? What model Micra do you have? with thanks Breaker
@@surepicv819 Thanks Surepic - Wonder how often we need to drop the pan and change this coarse filter then - my 2011 K13 1.5L has 156,000 klms on it - so probably way overdue for this filter change
When engine is running and transmission is in P. Open drain bolt and wait till it will start to slowly drip then tighten bolt back. If its pouring oil then wait let it drain excess.
@@surepicv819 I am also surprised... But when I added transmission fluid, I added 2.5L After adding, remove the oil drain screw to let the excess oil leak out I don't know if the difference in oil temperature will affect the leakage
Temperature will affect a lot! Hold on did u take hex bolt out when u were draining? 0.5 liter will come out of u take drain plug out but then much more will come out if u take that hex bolt out.
@@surepicv819 I took out the hexagonal screws, and the leaked oil is 0.6L in total When the 19mm screw was disassembled, a drop of oil did not leak out When the excess transmission oil leaks, should I start the car and remove the 19mm screw when the oil temperature is 95~113 °F?
Then your transmission was underfilled all the time. So again drain plug out then hex out let it drain put hex in but dont put bolt yet. Fill transmission with 2litre of oil. Start the engine go from P to L and back again to P while holding 15-30sec in each position. Let it still idle while u are checking oil temp(remember drain plug is still not in place). When temperature reaches 35-40 it will either start to drip or no. If its starting to drip check temp if its lets say 20 degrees and its dripping let it drip till 35 degree and u may notice drip is getting slower . Thats right time to put plug back and torque it to spec with new crash washer. If its 35 degree and nothing is dripping then start adding with 0.5L increments fill and check. 0.6L with both bolts removed is very low most likely your used oil will smell heavily burned.
Yeah around 1.8 but to drain more you can drive on ramps which will tilt the car back a little that way it will drain a least a liter. Dont overtighten drain bolt! After few attempts you can easily damage threads in the pan then it will start to get wet slowly. Torque wrench with 30-50nm zone is highly recommended.
What filter u mean the mesh filter inside the transmission? This transmission has only 1 filter which doesnt need to be replaced for at least 150k km if u are doing partial fluid changes regularly at 20k km as I do.
