My Dad had a 4th generation Patrol 4.2 diesel when I lived in West Africa in the early 90s. He drove all over West Africa and covered 250,000 km over 5 years and it never let him down.
For me (In my opinion). Nissan Patrol 79, Land Rover Santana 67, Toyota Land Cruiser 76 and Jeep Willis 56 are the best off roads cars EVER. Why? Charge Capabilyty, Performance, Easy to drive, Desing and Function. Radio? GPS? ABS? Airbags? Sincerelly, for what?.

It's a nice car, but there is a serious gap that extended even further since 1980's until today's Y61 model. The Y62 is good offroader the Y60 and Y61 is insane, it simply dominates the rallys here, the only car you can see for hill climbs with 2000-3500+hp, and a lot more. Land Cruiser is still a very trust car, but the Patrol has been always overpowered mechanically.
