Biggest difference is driving them. The Rogue is the Altima and the Murano is the Maxima. Complete different feel when driving and not just power.

Speaking from personal experience. I had a 2017 Rogue for 2 1/2 years & 42K miles. It was a great SUV but I drive 85% highway & the ride/road noise left a lot to be desired. So I traded it in for a 2019 Murano & the difference is unbelievable. The Murano feels like a Lexus but for half the price. I got the base "S" model $33,500 killer year end sales deal oh & I average 28.5 MPG so I couldn't be happier.

I am driving a Nissan Murano Platinum. While my Murano has been in service I have been given a Rogue Platinum to use for a number of days at a time. I found the Murano quieter, smoother, more powerful, and much quicker. Between the two, I would take the Murano Platinum at any time. I found the Rogue to be more like a smaller vehicle for handling. The Rogue was a bit easier for fitting in to tight parking spaces. Bottom line... I would take the Murano at any time! You get what you pay for!

Of course there is no comparison Larry because the Rogue and Murano are two totally different class vehicles. The Rogue is based on the Altima and the Murano based on the Maxima. Your comment would make more sense if it was compared to a more equal vehicle, such as a Toyota Highlander. This video points out the differences and similarities between two different model vehicles sold by the same manufacturer. Of course one will be 'better' subjectively in ride, style, performance, but one is also $10K more than the other.

I feel like people only buy Nissan's because they haven't tried much of anything else. My fiancee bought a 2013 Sentra that died at 100k miles (CVT bit the dust). He got $500 bucks for it (interior and exterior were SPOTLESS). They have very poor resale values. Meanwhile my Toyota Celica was still pumping strong at that mark, and past it. With the paint all chipped from wear and tear and rims from a junk yard (interior in pretty good condition), I got nearly $2100 for my 14+ year old Toyota. Anyway, his family were diehard Nissan fans, and after that happened, he chose to look at Toyota since I have the new Corolla Hatch and he liked driving it a lot. His family did a complete turnaround at the Toyota dealership and now they are absolutely in love with Toyotas and considering replacing all their Nissans with them. They say the drive is better, superior handling, safety, features, etc. Also note Nissan did finally update their CVTs, but long-term reliability is foggy still. Yes, Toyota does have CVTs, and yes the hatch did have a recall on the transmission already. However, it was a very small number affected. At least they are trying to change the CVT game up with the physical first gear to help lag off the line and take some burden off. Definitely more peppy than any other CVT I've driven as of yet! Overall, if someone likes a Nissan, great. I recommend Toyotas or Honda's, but that doesn't mean all Nissan's are trash. They just have a lower reliability then other Japanese cars overall, but some are still decent. Pricing I feel is high for them in my opinion, but overall a good review!

I started out with a 2010 Rogue S, then updated to a 2014 Platinum, but traveling through the mountains was an issue for the Rogue as it used far more gas, and the engine just didn't produce enough torque to effectively handle the terrain. I updated to a Murano Platinum in 2016, and now I am HAPPY. Big difference between the two in terms of horsepower and torque, otherwise, they are very similar, and I love the Bose sound system. The Rogue also has a smaller gas tank which also meant I had to exit and refill more often than I do with the Murano. On one trip, I was behind a Range Rover Sport, and he was driving 120 mph, and I was a few yards behind him with no problem, I followed him all the way to Indianapolis. At first I didn't think my Murano would keep up, but it definitely did, and the CVT also reduced the RPM too which helped me save gas, that's also a great benefit.

If it’s been kept up and you can see the record is pretty clean itll be a good buy. If there’s no major problems than it can be a point a b and c car no doubt. Keep up with it and it could easily have 60-80 thousand miles on it.

@knurlgnar24
@knurlgnar24 4 года назад
This review is a bit biased. The Rogue is actually the larger vehicle on the inside despite its smaller exterior metrics. The Murano is not a larger vehicle - it is simply heavier, less efficient, more luxurious, and better performing. For all practical reasons they are so similar is size so as to make it not matter. Stop calling the Murano 'bigger'. It is essentially a higher trim of the Rogue.

I have a 2012 Murano SL . Love it and would happily buy another Murano. Have had absolutely NO problems with it. Also have a 2017 Frontier Pro4X. Also a lot of fun. But it is time to replace the Murano. As we live on a very steep hill, the 2102 Murano CVT does not have much engine breaking capacity, resulting in riding the brakes a lot (unlike the Pro4X truck transmission). A question for this group: Does either the 2020 Rogue and/or Murano CVT have the ability to hold it in a lower ratio ("1st" which is what I use on the Pro4X) so I can effectively use the engine for breaking? This is my biggest concern going for another CVT car over a standard auto box again.

A vehicle with 15K is not 'brand new' and they would be covered under warranty. I am sure Nissan would fix your vehicle, especially with check engine codes. So you did not want to service your vehicle, so you dumped it. You do realize that vehicles need routine service, and a major one at 100K miles. Sounds like you never serviced the car at all. I own the 2014 Rogue and just bought a used 2018 Murano in damn near mint condition. Both are basic S models. Only reason I bought the Murano is because I got it at a great price, $21K with 12K miles. Don’t get me wrong, the Murano is amazing at even a basic S trim and I love it. The only reason I however didn’t buy a second Rogue, was because my wife doesn’t want us to have two which is completely understandable lol. I LOVE my Rogue, like the gentleman from the video said, I’d much rather save the $10K. We’re a small body build family, me 5’7” 160lbs and my wife 4’11” (not putting her weight lol) with a two year old, so we’re not in want of extra room. I also put gas savings over horse power any day of the week. Unless you’re racing, the extra 3 to 4 seconds of acceleration to 60mph just isn’t worth it realistically (yes people, think about it that way when you feel you must have a V6+ engine). So the better investment is absolutely the Rogue in my case. The fact the Rogue has more storage space is also a winning factor for me. My mother owns the 2005 Murano (similar storage space to the 2018) and to this day she won’t accept my Rogue has more storage space 😂😂😂. It’s just like he says, they look at the bigger vehicle and go, “no way that little Rogue has more space” lol. Love the Rogue, stylish and has everything I need. To this day, I’ve only had routine maintenance done, brakes tires etc. No major part problems (engine, transmission etc).

@spartty
@spartty 4 года назад
Apollo Omondo hey, sorry for the late response. My moms 2005 is a gently used Murano which only has about 46K miles on it at the moment. Literally the only big issue I had with it was that under the power adjusted driver seat, something broke so if you lift the seat, it’s very unstable and wobbles (I have a short upper body so I would raise it to see as much over the steering wheel as possible lol) and a cracked axel. There was also some small issue with the shifter getting stuck, but that was fixed. Other than that, we’ve had no issues with it outside of normal wear and tear. Shocks (may have caused the axle issue since my mom refused to change them to this day lol), brakes, etc. No engine or transmission trouble what so ever. So I don’t know if the 2006 you want to buy has very low mileage, but that’s the story with mine.

Only Nissan CVTs are horrible. They other manufacturers don’t have near the failure rate.

Sure but ford is reliable? No it’s not. It’s slower, eats more gas, and transmission broke under 30k miles in my father’s 2018 Edge. Normal utomatic doesn’t mean more reliable.

I like Nissan exterior designs (new maxima, altima, versa, sentra, rogue sport and murano) but the interiors look dated. The rogue needs a refresh.

Currently trying to decide between a Murano and a rogue. Both are 2009s

I would recommend the Murano.... I have seen some 2009 muranos with really high kms they can last a long time
