I've recently got this light. I looked a LOT at the competition. Each light has its trade offs and each user has their specific wants. For an EDC light that covers the range in variable brightness levels and cover distance ranges with a high candela, not to mention a reasonable price for the light and quality you're getting, this light is tough to beat. It has a daily use mode and a tactical mode. I find the tactical mode is great for my daily use too. You always have the turbo strobe available but in tactical mode, the main button is ready to go with turbo. With the mode button right under it, and knowing what lumen power I want, it's SO quick to adjust just the lumens I want. Yes, it's important to me that the light works as a defensive tool for first, upsetting the vision of an attacker(s) and second, to use as a striking tool. I love how it has the breaking glass metal points on the bezel to break glass if needed. Having to personally need and use a glass breaker to save someone in their car before, I don't take that tool for granted. Just saying, that the P23i has exceeded my expectations. I like so many brands but I'm developing a 'bias' for Nitecore.
Excellent review as always, and super helpful. I'm going to order one of these when they are back in stock. Going to be an excellent companion for my TM28. Thanks again.
I liked the functions but I didn't like the very close focus I prefer the focus nitecore p20ix I like your videos because you show everything and the main thing is the lighting outside congratulations
Hello Charles. Glad you got a break in the Weather. You all have had some crazy weather for sure. The ‘Tree of Life’ still standing. 😊 I’ve had this light for a short while, and am disappointed, quite frankly. Maybe my expectations were too high, I don't know? I like the way they did the tail cap, so it will allow it to ‘tail stand,’ mostly. The overall design and build are good, but I could ‘hear’ the grittiness in the tail cap as you unscrewed it. I’ve noticed a drop in quality in recent releases from NiteCore. I am a huge fan so not knocking on NiteCore, or You Charles, for that matter, but maybe due to the Weather I feel you kind of “glossed over” this light? I will be returning mine. The spill has the ‘cloverleaf’ pattern in it, and I was told this was by design? I don’t like it, and it makes no sense, being a single emitter. It claims 3000 lumens, but I have other lights I compared it to, and they equal or best it with lower Lumen ratings. I added grease to the threads, but the tail cap on mine is still hard to turn, and gritty when taken on and off. Oh, and Dear NiteCore, lets step it up some on the packaging as well! And I’m a NiteCore fan from way back! I’m a Charles BridgTec fan also!!! I would caution any one to check it out if you buy it, and maybe your reflector will be better than mine? Thanks for the timeliness on this one Charles, and I hope the break in the Weather holds for you all out there! Best! 👍🤝✌🔦😊
Threads on tail cap are smooth. Not sure of the sound maybe clip rubbing? Light is top notch in my opinion. Spill is this way due to Bezel design. Thanks for watching!
@@CharlesBridgTec Thanks for reply Charles! I must have gotten a ‘bad copy?’ I’m still a bit disappointed, and I see your point regarding the spill. I still aint gotta like it! 🙄🤔👍 Take care and be safe! Best!
@@CharlesBridgTec Thanks for reply Charles! You’re Welcome! I must have just got a bad copy? I got my RMA and it’s going back, sadly. Take care and stay SAFE out there!
For mine, it screwed on and off just fine. Seemed smooth to me. Having looked at a lot of lights, the 23i hit the marks best for my needs. Even the glass breakers on the front was a selling point to me. I found when you need them, you NEED them! Unless someone can show the lumen output is not correct by a calibrated or correct-working lumen sensor, I'll go by their lumen readings. For sure though, some lights come out with flaws and it's good to see Nitecore wants you happy by allowing you to return it.
That "cloverleaf" beam spread irks me, that is why I am eyeing for P20iX, still I wanted to know what Charles has to say, I am in need of thoughts over P23i vs P20iX?
You are talking about the NTH20 holster. You can easily buy this as a spare for £7.00 or around $7.00. I have checked the dimensions of the P20i which comes with the NTH20. The head diameter, the tube diameter and the tail diameter of this P23i are identical to the older P20i. Therefore, the NTH20 will fit the P23i. The P20i will not tail stand without the NTH20. The P23i WILL tail stand by itself. That is why Nitecore don't supply the NTH20 with the new light. Nevertheless, the NTH20 is compatible with the P23i as far as I can tell. I hope this helps.
Wow, a lot of options from Nitecore in the last few years! I have a P20v2 and am now looking to upgrade it. I'm between this P23i and the "new" MH12SE. Have you tried the MH12SE yet? It is for duty use. Sometimes I'm in the city, sometimes I'm in the countryside/forest (which is why I'm looking to upgrade my P20v2). I also carry a Klarus E1 in my pocket, which I use most of the time. Both of my flashlights I bought with your help, so I'd like to thank you once again for that!
Got both the P20i & P20iX And the P20iX is 4000LM More than Double the Lumens of P20i And Going by their model line-ups All models ending with "X" Are always their Top Tier Models They been pushing the P23i everywhere recently That's cause i'm betting their coming out with The New P23iX Version pretty soon for sure I'd rather wait for that instead See what they come up with.. This light is only good for anyone not owning Any of the P20 range lights yet Especially if you don't own the P20iX👍👍
@@Actual-user yep, give me the candela throw with just enough spill to see around it. Sometimes I wonder about me and others if we're being too anal about it all. Then again, often looking at details does indeed matter in life. Life is full of surprises. I got the 23i several days ago and I'm very happy with it. I keep it in their tactical mode since I want instant turbo if needed for defensive purposes and yet it is so handy and fast to hit the mode button to get the exact lumen output I want that they have programmed. Also really like how they have the mode button flush with the bottom and yet so easy to push on. Clever ergonomics indeed.
I like the features of the dial lon tail cap for precise light outputs but both are combination beams so that is my favorite type of beam. Thanks for watching!
I have the light....So when you have the light on push the mode button down and hold it for 3000 lumens ! And I really don't like the trickle charging in the light...it's annoying.
Nitecore lights are garbage. They’re nowhere near their stated lumen rating and the beams are awful. The UI on most of their models are confusing at best. Give me an Imalent any day
@@Studat Hi Studat! Usually when some lame brain makes an out and out statement like that, they are usually a troll, or mentally deficient, or seeking confrontation. Who knows? I own many torches, most are NiteCore, but i have noticed a dip in their QC recently, sadly. See my comment to Charles. Most all of these brands have their strengths and weaknesses. I concur with you on the MH25s, a beautiful light! P30i I have, and it is a decent light. I have the P20ix as well, and not too crazy about it. I recently picked up the little MH12SE, and that is one sweet little EDC light. Check it out. Peace!
I believe your statement is garbage! All modern brands have high quality, and some are better than others. All brands have their really good lights, and their so so lights. It’s just the way it is. Try and be kind and respectful to Charles’ Channel, and to others.
