They did an awesome job on this one. I was reading from it yesterday and I really like it. I will be reviewing it in the near future...I’m glad they added spine hubs and I like the font in this one better too. Zondervan is doing an amazing job on their new Bibles. If someone is looking for a nice NIV this is the one to get.
Bought the Single Column Deluxe on your recommendation. It’s a beautiful Bible overall, and I love the Topical References, but not sure if it’ll be my “daily reader”. My question for Pastor Randy is this: between this and the Clarion, what would be your preferred “daily driver” in terms of reading?
Thanks Christopher! The Clarion is my all-around favorite Bible. I actually prefer the calf split and calfskin Clarion to the goatskin version because the spine rises higher which keeps the page flatter and the lines of text straighter.
Zondervan and Thomas Nelson are really doing a great job in producing and providing us with their current line of Bibles. I also like the way that the publishers are listening to what people want in a Bible, such as the addition of spine hubs for example. The hubs serve the purpose of not allowing the leather cover to crease, fold and bend down the spine, something that I dislike with my NKJV Open Bible and Single Column Reference. I would happily purchase these two Bible's again if they started to manufacture them with hub's. Oh, And I like the feel of the Goatskin Leather and appreciate the durability of the leather edged lining But, I find the Goatskin editions to be too floppy and for me make them difficult to handle /read from the hand. I love Thomas Nelson's Genuine Leather as it feels nice and is softer than many other Genuine Leather editions from other publishers. Thomas Nelson's Genuine Leather look and feel like Calfskin to me, which is great, rather than the thin rigid Pigskin that other publishers tend to use. God bless, Paul.
Great review Randy, don't let the joyless naysayers get you down. I appreciate your reviews and you always do a great job of conveying what one can expect if they purchase one of the Bibles you've reviewed. Thanks for doing what you do!
Thanks so much for the text comparison between this one and the Heritage. Two things I didn't love about this particular one: 1) The font was pretty small and 2) the binding was WAY too floppy. If I'm trying to do long term reading, the reference Bible drives me bonkers with it's floppiness. I'm constantly trying to simply control it to keep it from falling all over my hand.
Hey brother I'm really torn between this one, the heritage, and the clarion. I need somewhat larger font..but I don't want a heavy bible either. Any suggestions?
Thanks,I was just about to pull the trigger on this one before I saw yr review, now I know I will...you are always very comprehensive and thorough in yr reviews but do you ever mention that the Bibles are being provided to you for an unbiased review? Maybe you do,I just wasn't sure..God bless.
3 out of 39 people in Amazon reviews of the NIV Heritage Premier Thinline (goatskin) reported it ‘fell apart’ in less than a year and 3 reviewers (out of only 52) reported defects with this version too. I have been seriously looking for a good quality NIV (I have bought both a TBS Westminster Reference KJV and a Crossway ESV Large Print Wide Margin in the last 10 days and I am looking for a high quality NIV with decent paper and easily readable print size to complete a ‘study set’ of KJV, ESV and NIV.)
It struck me as strange the only bibles you mention where it’s manufactured is the Niv… Is there supposed to be some kind of Connotation behind this? I’m just curious as to why it isn’t mentioned on any other bibles only the niv’s you review…
@@sheenafrederick6683 - yeah, it was the Geneva bible if i remember correctly. And that bible was purposely tainted by the translators when they decided to change and few words here and there in order to make the scriptures "fit" their current day political views. In some places in the Geneva bible where it was supposed to say: king, it says: tyrant. The People at the time in Europe had a real distaste for their kings, and that's a historical fact. Read whatever translation you want brother, though i personal don't trust them for purity reasons, I'm not gonna bust your chops for reading them. By the way, what verses are you referring to, verses like 1st John 5:7 ???
I would love for the bible reviewers to stop using the word, "nice." You are getting free bibles in order to tell me what I need to know for a purchase decision. Nice means nothing to me.
well it's your review that made me but the ESV scripture journals and me and my wife much closer she have the illuminated scripture journals I have the black ones
@@ForkynnerenTor What does nice mean compared to what? Saying nice is like taking a picture of an object with nothing else in the photo to give it context. Do what you will Bible Buying Guide but you are not helping when you say nice. Nice compared to what?
I really enjoy your posts on RU-vid, but I'm a KJV only Christian, because other translations are very inaccurate and corrupt from Wescot & Hort manuscripts. I'm sure you're aware of that yourself. Please do me a favor and check this passage for me.... 2 Samuel 21:19 on this translations the one you're reviewing, as well as others. The NKJV still has got it right but all other translations don't. Please get back to me.
If the translators had the Manuscripts that we have now they would’ve used them...we have manuscripts from the fourth century...in other words new ones are better !!
@@mim771gmail: Dear Miriam the newer manuscripts are from the time of a man named Origin. They are from Alexandria Egypt. Study Origin and check him for yourself. Also check on RU-vid about why KJV is more accurate than the new age versions. Check out Gail Riplinger on RU-vid about new age versions. I’ve seen many errors in the new translations, especially the NIV.
