The average American today would fall asleep or lose interest within 5 minutes of this debate. We've commercialized every sect of our country to the point where even the election of the President of the United States is just another form of entertainment.
You are all high on drugs. Natural and unnatural. Junkies to the core. Everything is about pleasure. Indoctrinated from the very young for the purpose of total control.
I learned that in 2008, the debate rules changed so that the candidates could address each other directly, using “you” and other 2nd person language. This drastically changed the debates to make it more like reality TV, which was growing in popularity during the time. It hasn’t been the same since. The candidates are treated as celebrities in some kind of story rather than being shown as politicians addressing actual issues that will impact the nation. It makes me so sad that this is how everything is run.
take a look at the recent DNC and RNC conventions, both of them were a circus performance. Politics is pure entertainment these days, and the average voter knows little to nothing about the most crucial issues we are facing as a nation and as a global people
@peacenow42 Well, it’s not just them not having seen earlier debates. Really that’s a prime example as to why the majority of Voters are a waste of time. Most people I know could not even name the Bill of Rights. Nor have an understanding of how the two current mainstream parties came to exist. Why the voting age was changed to 18. Most people I know have no idea about the History of the country in general. Yet all of them believe in their right to Vote. It is there I cannot say most are conscientious voters and basically wasting time.
I agree but I also think that the politicians of today should watch them right before participating in their own so they can see an example of how far we've fallen ,the difference is crazy I've honestly never watched one of the past presidential debates but after watching from when Hillary Clinton ran up until watching last week and then seeing this it's jaw-dropping the comparison is unreal it's more like a reality TV show now it seems like back then it was like an actual academic debate but the politicians and of citizens should be embarrassed embarrassed I'm sure the presidents from back then would be if they saw what it's come to.

PARTIALLY agree, 'cause anyone MUST then admit&recognize how he "BETRAYED" this own "geniality", at least in Vietnam, by failing to curb however corrupt association between generals&lobbies warmongering(!!!!)
@@andreabartolomei8217 "by failing to curb however corrupt association between generals&lobbies warmongering" If we're going to apply this as the standard, then I'm hard-pressed to think of any that haven't.

Nixon’s Red Baiting, illegal slush funds, multiple burglaries, dirty tricks, bribes, mass murders in Cambodia and Laos sure look good compared to Trump’s rape.
Man the guy doesn’t get a break. He’s the most qualified president of all times that was the most strategic thinking minds when it came to international geopolitical strategy.
I know. We need a conspiracy addict, anti-vaxxer who's never been elected to any office to liven things up. He gets extra points for racist tendencies and that dead brain worm thing. 😏
Keeping RFK,Jr off the stage only ensures that he will remain a spoiler candidate, whereas if he was there he could convince voters paying attention that he does not belong there, except to the extent that anyone who meets the ballot requirements, like Pat Paulsen did every four years from 1968 to his death, belongs.
This is my first time watching this debate or even having an interest in a presidential debate in my 35 years of life. The show that the Biden and trump put out is a circus to the world. Candidates in our time are nothing but money hungry puppets.
@peacenow42 he wasnt prolonging the war. he was seeking victory in the war...ultimately an outcome favorable to our interests. In a war he did not start
@peacenow42 The implication by the poster is that Nixon's involvement is already well known, infamous even, whereas many only remember JFK as a martyr.

Interesting how Formosa (Taiwan) is still a flashpoint . Difference is the Red Chinese are much stronger now helped by the illegal artificial islands they've developed for military purposes in the S China Sea (begun under Obama).
His Checkers slush fund speech was a masters class in propaganda. Nixon was corrupt and Ike despised him. Nixon’s Red Baiting destroyed Americans’ lives. Destroyed a lot of Asians’ lives too.
@@david2284180 I think they're talking about the Matsu Islands. They're an archipelago just off the coast of mainland China that Taiwan governs. Here's a link to the Wikipedia article if you want to learn more: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matsu_Islands

Nixon never trusted the Demonrats🎭. So much was the case he had wiretapped them. now in this debate it seems to be related to Chinas expansionary aims. Nixon was clear that to give indication to a dictator that you would not fight under certain conditions - the dictator will take advantage of ha weak opening. Likewise Trump is the best hope for Taiwan to stave of China.
Both Nixon and Kennedy knew from there briefings that there was no missile gap in favor of the USSR. And yet Kennedy went out and pretended there was knowing Nixon couldn’t show receipts for national security reasons. So don’t pretend like politics was more honest and civil back then.
Nixon also had an illegal slush fund, was destroying Americans’ lives with Red Baiting and was along with Eisenhower fully funding half of the French war cost by 1954. He also went on to “open up China” so it could eviscerate American manufacturing. The trajectory of Nixon’s politics has brought America to its economic collapse today, the demise of the middle class the homelessness, all of it. The GOP has evolved from Nixon’s Red Baiting to Trumps anti-democratic fascism.
Came back after the Joe Biden and Trump debate. Jesus Christ, remember when this country had competent and coherent candidates? I can’t even picture current Biden being eloquent as these two.
The Democratic Party was far more left wing in 1960 than it is today. The modern Democrats today are Nixon Reagan Republicans and the Trump GOP has gone fascist.
@@DairyKing Why would you say otherwise? You're throwing the guy a curveball by asking him to explain a negative. How would one go about proving that they aren't political extremists?
Funny that Nixon expressed views on certain aspects similar to Trump yesterday, but in a more diplomatic manner. He suggested that Asia and South America should contribute more to their own safety, with support from America - this parallels Trump’s proposal that Europe should increase its investment in its security ... and when they discussed the USSR, it sounds like if they were speaking of China -a country that was once economically disadvantaged but is now developing rapidly and is likely to surpass the USA within the next 10 years, ..which as we know, never happened
And look how Nixon was demonized for it. One could fairly say he was the most demonized President until Trump (even before Watergate, which was massively blown out of proportion). Thus it was a given that Trump would likewise be demonized even with a "diplomatic manner" The disproportionate response made a Trumpian candidate inevitable.
If I were watching these debates, I'd feel relieved that the US will be ok even if my preferred candidate lost. Watching the Biden-Trump debate of June 2024 returned me to the reality that the US is F!CKED regardless of who wins.
These videos of Nixon make me so sad ... his potential is no clearer than at these moments ... his accomplishments as POTUS reflected that ... but, in the end, his own insecurity and fear of his "enemies" destroyed him. Later, as the Watergate crisis unfolded, he came to understand this ... but it was too late.
Candidates represent the people and parties who choose them. Standards have fallen a long way, especially for appropriate bahavior. Take swearing in public and entertainment as one example. Widely tolerated today. Unacceptable in 1960. Nixon had a terrible potty mouth in private recordings but not in public. Kennedy had adulterous affairs.
While it's true that in this part of the debate JFK looked quite stressed and maybe like he didn't get much sleep, his looks and speech were as always more glamourous and charismatic than Nixon's. JFK won by such a tiny margin that it looks as if the rumor was true that his father, Joseph Kennedy, bought enough votes to get him elected.
The argument they use today, Repubs will start wars and are racist, because the Kay KK endorsed the Repub. DJT should tell them these are old arguments!
I respect the man’s intellect but Nixon’s answers were rather longwinded, each word just fell into the next without intonation or emphasis. He improved considerably in the coming years.
Some of us will have arrived here after the recent debacle ~ ~ ~ to source an example of what a respectable political candidate debate actually involves... That is, what standard of intelligence and acuity are incumbent on would be leaders of the nation to demonstrate to the voting people... (!)
Oh, yes. Back when having character, dignity, and intelligence actually mattered. Regardless of our political views, we need these things more than ever today.
Hell yeah especially after Eisenhower didn’t campaign for him until the end of the election and said he can’t remember a single idea nixon contributed lol
@peacenow42 The Vietnam war was NOT happening in 1960. At that time, almost no one in the US knew anything about Vietnam. It began very slowly a few years later just before JFK was assassinated, then escalated in 1964.
[10:05] … because I think the fate of not only our own civilization but I think the fate of the world and the future of the human race is involved in preventing a nuclear war.
Watched last nights Debate, both Nixon and Kenedy were so qualified to be Potus, and despite some political differences, they had respect for one another. And, they also were basically friends as well. Now, we have 2 old F---s running, with Kennedy being the "younster"@70. More young people need to get into politics, as dirty and corrupt as it may seem. Sad to see Joe Biden's performa ce last night, pretty sure he has stage 4( almost) Dementia, he appeared lost, blank stare, open mouth, mumbling, my wife has the same exact symptoms. She cant drive anymore, Im basically her caregiver. The Demicratic Party needs to Effen WAKE UP!and find a "replacement" it is cruel to keep Biden on the public stage, and Trump will most likely win, after last night, He seemed to look and sound more clear and focused( at least, for him). Not Gavin "Gruesome" Newsom either. Need someone younger, perhaps a political moderate. Rep or Dem, even an independent( unfortunately, Ross Perot is no longer available). Let youth be served!!, maybe Gretchen Whitmer in '28.
Agreed. I wish President Biden would withdraw and the Democratic Party would choose others. Amy Klobuchar for President and Pete Buttigieg for Vice President is my dream team.
I seriously believe that most recent debate tween two elderly men was again a media ploy to get you to talk about one Prez supposed dementia...regardless it never got to the REAL issues. The next day again constantly picking on that issue. Now Nixon/JFK are two formidable opponents...smart men getting it done under difficult times. Makes Tricky Dickys 5oclock shadow and sweaty lip seem quaint 😂
RKF Jr. is far from a worthy successor to JFK. In so many ways, their politics are different, and simply invoking the Kennedy legacy is not a sufficient reason to cast a vote. It's worth mentioning that the Kennedy family has endorsed Biden.
@@AGoodVibe Can you explain to us how RFK Jr's policies are different from JFK's of those policies that may still be relevant today? I'm gonna go out on a wire here and say you are spouting hot air out your bung hole.
He lookslike Alfred E Newman from Mad Magazine! I thought the Kennedys were supposed to be attractive, something went wrong here. Nix has a nice Calif tan!
I was thinking that. I don't understand that oft-repeated tale that JFK won the television voters on account of looking better than Nixon. In all the debates I've seen between them Kennedy - with respect to the man himself - looked worse for wear, from my view.
