I have the same player, I got it mostly for its Micro-SD card option, I loaded a 2GB card with about 1100 songs of my choice, and I love it, the sound it is very decent for its size, not a sound that will blow your roof or anything, but it does get loud without enough to enjoy the music with friends and on your own, if you use it with earbuds, then the sounds it is beautiful, I really love it because I have a little pedal boat, and I like to go fishing by myself, so I take it with me and hang it off the canopy-roof on my boat, and the only problem I have with this radio, is that when I bought it, the battery lasted almost 2 and half hours of music, and I took with me my back-up battery pack for a full 6 hours of music, but now after almost 3 years, all works well, but the battery will not hold a charge for over 30 minutes, so it stays in my bedroom and I use it plugged in to the outlet for continues hours of music with the same quality sound as before, just that it has to be plugged to the outlet, so now I am going to order a new one so I can take it fishing with me...Overall, Yes I do recommend it and yes I really like it!

Hello and thank you for your comment! Good point about the loudness - It is one thing that I didn't mention in the review. I actually use it fairly regularly now as an external speaker for my laptop (the internal speakers don't work anymore), and with a bit of EQing, I can get pretty decent sound. Oh, and it's not so much of getting ripped off as just the penalty of buying from brick-and-mortar stores. My dad bought it and eventually passed it off to me eventually. Does your microSD card slot not leave the card partly hanging out like I showed in the video? It's entirely possible that there's something wrong with my unit.

I loaded a card with a few hundred songs, but the player does not find them. The card just has the songs, no root directory or folder or other material. Did I do something not quite right??

Hi there thanks putting this up just bought this item and thinking how do i download songs from computer to this radio player? Since theres usb connection. I tried connecting to computer but it doesnt show up as a device other than bluetoth speaker?

Hello and thank you for your comment! Assuming you have the same device as I have shown in the video, then you can't copy media _to_ it, since it has no internal storage. Load your media on an SD card or flash drive, then load _that_ into the player.

Hello, Yes i wish they would have stated which model did what, a little confusing. How do you tell when the speaker is charged? I would think when all the bars show. But this part in the directions is a bit confusing. Do not use the charger which over 5.4V to avoid the components inside the machine damaged. (kind of broken english) any idea what they are saying ? thank you

Yeah, look for the battery bars to know when the battery is charged. You don't have to worry about the 5V thing - It basically says that that's the maximum voltage that should be used for charging. USB puts out 5V, and since this can only be charged over USB, this isn't a concern.

I have one and no problems. Sound quality is great for its size, fills up the room. It scanned and picked up all the stations I know of on my other radios. Great bang for the buck.

I have bought two weeks before the TT-028 and not recognize my usb and SD -card. What did you do?

+Christos Christodoulou Hello and thank you for your comment! I realize that one common mistake people make when they think their external devices are not recognized is that they're just not switching to it! Try pressing the "Mode" button, that changes up the audio source, and see if you can navigate to either USB stick or card. If that's still not working, you might have to reformat your card / USB stick (warning: This wipes out all its content). Choose FAT32 as the format of the card.

hi, i just bought one of these, but when i put a usb stick with mp3's in it the display says NO:OO and dont play my songs. have you any tips?. thanks.

Hello and thank you for your comment! Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately my unit no longer works (after not having been charged for a long time). Off the top of my head, two possible solutions come up: 1) Are you in the right mode? This is a common mistake, so no harm checking - Try toggling the "mode" switch around as it switches between radio / SDcard and USB stick modes. 2) Is your USB stick formatted properly? If I recall correctly, I mentioned in the video that I had problems getting a USB stick read because it wasn't in the FAT32 format. You can try reformatting the stick, though doing so erases all data on the stick.

Hi I have one problem with mine. My radio does not turn on when ever you turn the on/off switch on the only time it turns on is when its is attached the charging cable and charging but when you take it off the cable it does not turn on at all. Its either this product is defective or if im not doing something right so can you reply to me soon as possible thanks

Hello and thank you for your comment! That sounds strange! Assuming that you're using the switch correctly (ie. Pushing it fully), you may have a faulty unit. Either a bad battery or a bad switch is my guess.

+stina3246 Hello and thank you very much for your comments! Glad you found the video helpful :) The "in line" isn't for FM radio, it's for connecting this speaker to another device like a computer or phone for use as an external speaker!

Thanks for the thorough review, I couldn't find whether it could read data from a computer via the usb anywhere else. Knowing it can only read from a usb drive/sd card is important information- not an ideal mp3 player for jogging with limited pocket space.

Hello and thank you for your comment! Glad you found the video useful =) And yes you're right, this device will not stream music from a computer via USB. If you want to make it play music via a computer, you'll have to connect it to the 3.5mm line in jack. Also I can't imagine carrying something with this shape in my pocket =P Definitely not something you'd want to bring jogging with.

+Sarah Hello and thank you for your comment! On Windows 7, reformat your thumbdrive by conecting it to your computer, opening "My Computer", right clicking on the correct drive and clicking "Format...". Do bear in mind that doing this will delete all files from the drive. For compatibility with this player (or similar ones), you'll probably want to set it to FAT32 since that seems to be more common.

You're welcome! Yeah, I agree. In fact that lack of text is my largest complaint about this device, so if you can find the TT-029 at a similar price point, it'll add value!

I have a Tomtop version of this player. It's a neat little outfit for the size. I think it was more for being an MP3 player, then being a radio. One cool point I'd like to share.. The headphone jack is in fact stereo. There is a left and right channel. It plays well hooked up to a big stereo sound system. Also, by doing that, the battery run lasts longer, before heading a charge.

Hello and thank you very much for your comment! Yes indeed! One thing I didn't discuss too much of was just using this as an audio source. It does the job decently like any other MP3 player, though again, I feel like the lack of track names was a detriment in this regard.

Hello and thank you for your comment! Unfortunately I no longer have my unit with me so I can't try it out and tell you for sure, but I believe you can long press one of the four buttons to do this. Once the display starts blinking use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust.

Hello and thank you for your comment! My views on the product haven't changed from what I said in the video! Note that this is just not a great product, and you'll be very limited if you ever wanted to play MP3 files off a USB stick or flash drive. As for battery life, another user has commented that it lasts 4 hours with the volume set to 10, so you should be able to get decent battery life out of it.

Hello again, I was wondering on these long collections in here, if there is any way to select the track title? i know most the songs, but would be nice if would show it, reason i got this player :) shows the collection name but not the name of the track, any idea is appreciated :)

I have no idea what people are expecting for 10 bucks? I bought this expecting "nothing", and was pleasantly surprised. Once you figure out how to use it, it's a nifty little gadget. I got NPR FM, sound quality was great! Then plugged in a music flash drive I created myself with about 500 songs I like. It started playing them is order. Again the sound was great. This is a music drive I created so I can just let it play because I know it holds only music I like.I can set it outside while I am doing lawn work etc. and it continuously plays music I like for about 2 hrs. What's not to like? I'm very pleased with this. It does exactly what I wanted, it plays my music.......

Hello and thank you very much for your comment! It is indeed true - You can't quite complain for that price point. I criticized it in the review because that's the purpose of a review - To be objective and to highlight both the pros and cons. Also do note that this is perfect for you as your use case is simple. It is indeed lacking some features that an average user might need. For example, another commenter remarked that there is no way to fast forward or rewind a track without skipping to the very beginning. Points like this bear mentioning as every person's use case may be different.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find this exact product on the shopping sites from my country anymore - this video is 8 years old after all, so it's not surprising if this product has been discontinued. You can search shopping sites for "portable speaker sdcard" or something along these lines and you should find a lot of similar products. Even bluetooth-enabled offerings are pretty cheap these days.

Hello and thank you for your comment! Firstly, can you confirm that you've pressed the "mode" button to switch to the USB mode? Quite a few people have expected the device to switch automatically to the flash drive when it is plugged in, but that is in fact not the case! You'll have to press the button to switch over.

Hmmm, before you get to FM, does it briefly say "READ"? That's the moment the player checks for connected media. At any rate, you may want to try a different flash drive or card to see if it behaves differently. If it never says "read" or never successfully finds connected storage, then something may be wrong with the player!

Yes it has an alarm function. I haven't used mine as an alarm but have accessed that function in the menu. It is called out as a feature in the bullet list on the User Guide that accompanied mine.

+lcc0612 I got the 029 to be honest, and I do have the 3.5mm but for some reason it doesn't work! I put it on ON and plug it on the LINE IN or headphones, none of them works with my laptop :(

+HILDI Hmmm, well you have to connect it to the Line in, not the headphones. Then you'll have to switch the mode of the speaker so that it knows to play back audio from the line in. In the case of the 028, you have to press the "Mode" button until the display says "LINE".

i brought mine from e-bay £2.99, it works great,, you say you dont know the battery life, on volume 10 it lasts 4 hrs, the sound is ok,, remember it only cost £3 so you wont get boss quality,,, but all in all a great little device.

I bought a few TT-029's for $7 each. The newer model is much better and has many more features. I wouldn't bother with the TT-028 model. The 029 shows track name and info, allows multiple folder loading and play, randon play, alarm clock, and FM record.

The TT-29 is much better. It has a dot matrix display, I like the New Angel version of these. It also has a dot matrix display and a passive speaker! Also this only costs about $10

This guy is hilarious. I have one of these and the sound quality is not bad for $15, but loading music into it is mystifying to somebody low-tech like me. The flashing LED's are HORRIBLE. (Who would WANT that on a little tiny speaker and/or radio thing? I wish I'd seen this review before I got it. Thanks for making me laugh!

The sound quality is much better than shows up on this video. Holding it up to the mike is not a fair test! If you like it, give it a go. I have one and it does the job well.

bought it basically for radio FM - it does not pull in any stations. the range of available frequencies is so limited - Atleast one News and one music channel is what I was looking for - none work there is lots of static noise . It is of no use to me now.

Hello and thank you for your comment! Where are you from? The radio supports the common band (approximately 87.5 to 108.0 MHz) - If your country uses a different set of frequencies that could explain why there are problems.

It's a $10 MP3/Speaker. I think you expected too much from this device. It is actually not that bad considering its price point. If you want superb sound quality then You should look into the $50 and up price point like the Jam Plus or Beats Pill.

iyabonita Hello and thank you for your comment! Really I went into this with no expectations whatsoever. Since I wanted to do a thorough and objective review, it is necessary to highlight both the positives and negatives of the product, and I did try and address every single positive and negative point I had. I do agree that it's not that bad for its price, but then again, there's no real reason to go for this unless a buyer has a really tight budget.

Mohammed Ali Ah I see! Sorry for the confusion =) Just out of curiosity, do you use it regularly? The unit in the review actually belonged to my dad, who bought it out of interest. The shortcomings put him off using it however, and he actually gave it to me yesterday just to clear it off his desk!

Well, to be precise, it's not necessarily _cheap_ chargers that are killing people, but _knockoff_ chargers created and sold in unregulated circumstances, which may not be up to scratch in terms of safety. Hello and thank you for your comment! As you can see at 1:54, the device ships in a tiny plastic box, not large enough to accommodate a charger. In my case, I did not receive one, though it is certainly possible that this varies from merchant to merchant.

I have this same radio. It's crap. Not worth the $10.00 I paid for it. No AM, only FM. It doesn't pull in all the stations it should. Way too much static, even with the antenna extended. The clock only works in military time and you can't change it to regular time. Typical cheap shit from China.

I saw one of these radios last night. I thought the radio was rather weak and the sound was tinny yet did produce decent high ends. When you consider the fact that this produces comparable sound to most low to mid level smart phones, for 10 bucks, it is a pretty good deal. Ideal for a child's first mp3 player or radio. Or maybe a cheap "Secret" Santa suggestion for when you don't have a clue who you're buying the gift for.

Definitely would be good fun for a child. Something for them to tinker with and build some interest in tech. Not so sure about secret santa though, I don't know how happy the recipient would be (unless the budget was fixed of course, like how they do it on Reddit) xD

if you plug an external antenna into it (I use an old pair of earbuds), the radios works quite well. The inability to read the memory card and play mp3s is the real deal breaker for me. I only use this as a radio near my chair in my room. In a small space it sounds pretty good.
