NJ Transit recently had a few special pieces of equipment moved from their maintenance facility in Kearny to the United Railroad Historical Society in Boonton, New Jersey. Pieces include CNJ GP9 # 1524, wire car # 9998, flat cars 9902 and 9901, and the idol of the move, NJT ALP44M # 4424. 4424 has been stored in very good condition at the MMC, and the URHS has plans to restore the engine, number boards, etc. and keep it in outstanding condition. This was a slow move that was able to be seen at many various locations of the Montclair-Boonton Line.
