Njoki Karu is a singer songwriter, performer, and a board certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) at the Nenyoon Initiative.
Her songwriting is of preeminent distinction and recognition within the Kenyan music industry including gaining acclaim for writing songs such as ‘Omba’, as well as putting her own heart-rending twist on an old spiritual song, ‘Binadamu’, in honor of a close family member.
Njoki's music has been featured in numerous Kenyan films more notably @rafiki_movie , @countryqueentv and @thisislifeseries
She is also a graduate Berklee College of Music
Together with Newman Owor, guitarist and composer, she has released two EPs, Tawasifu ya Moyo, in August of 2020, and Anchor, in November of 2021.
Her songwriting, her voice, her performances, her charisma are all exemplary and on 3rd September it shall be nothing less than that.
Cheche sessions are monthly intimate live art and music experiences featuring an eclectic sample of talented artists sharing raw and stripped-down sets of their music from various genres.
Cheche, Swahili for Sparks lend their name to our live music sessions shot on location at Cheche Books and Coffee, an alternative Pan-African literary space in Nairobi, Kenya.
