Fun fact, Ninja Kiwi actually made a new key for a friend of mine that lost theirs for this game just last year still. Their customer support is so good.
I did have to contact their customer support once and they were very helpful and nice to work with to solve my problem that I had in bloons monkey city even though it does not get updates anymore and is quite old
8:15 - In the Steam version of BTD5 you can actually still purchase Double Cash, Healthy Bananas, and Bigger Beacons for monkey money. They only cost real life money if you're on the mobile version of BTD5.
BTD5 was the first BTD game I played and I was so addicted to it (the original Flash version) and I am still addicted to it (the current Android version). Back then when Deluxe came out, I was wondering if I should buy Deluxe. I didn't realize it eventually got delisted until later. Watching this, wow... I am so used to playing the Android version these days that the in-game textures feel so different in Deluxe. lol
BTD5D is an underrated hidden gem. True, some standards were eventually outdated, and despite their attempt to put this game on Steam (yes, before they changed it to a BTD5 Mobile port on PC), ultimately they said it would be hard to keep up to date to everything, so they decided to switch from Deluxe to Mobile. Those who owned BTD5D at the day got a free Steam key for BTD5M so they didn't feel scammed when the game was put in the Scrapyard.
BTD5 Deluxe was a commercial failure for the most part, but I don’t actually remember that many people being mad about it being “neglected” and unable to be refunded back in the day. It was a fun little game that had unique stuff (at the time) and there was no guarantee that it would’ve kept getting updates anyway. I was one of the few that paid $15 for it back in the day and never regretted it, it was cool. Plus NK later gave out Steam keys for those who did by Deluxe so I guess we were all compensated in the end anyway lol
BTD 5 didnt come out until after I'd graduated from highschool, but back then we (the computer science kids) would just write a simple html file with an linked to google. Because the web adress was jist something like E: foldername/bypass.html the filters wouldnt pick it up. Eventually the filters got better and by the time I graduated it no longer worked but it was a handy work around
I would love to see more of btd5 and even the original battles, they were my first set of games in the series and I remember playing btd5 at my grandparents’ house, seeing an ad for btd6, and begging my mom to buy it for me. She told me that I had to read a few books from the library and then she would buy it for me, and I have never read a book so fast in my life.
Love the throwback!! I used to watch you play battles 1 and either BTD5 or BTD4 after school in 5th grade. Now I’m only a couple months away from graduating uni with my bachelor’s degree. Thanks for staying awesome, Chris 😁
Looking back the design of BTD5 is so different in comparison to BTD6. Ninja kiwi has truly come a far way from where they started. Even those I don't play BTD 5 anymore I still love the game. But a game that is almost the same in everyway but has Deluxe slapped on the front that is something I wish I owned just for the memes.
7:42 You got a free Steam key for the BTD5 Steam version, basically getting you "ported" over to the Steam version. It's obviously costing less now on Steam but back then it was $15 too
imo btd5 deluxe is the ultimate version of btd5 it gets you a good portion of the btd5 flash content without additional microtransactions, plus several features that are exclusive to the version - more special agents, bonus maps, unlockable deluxe upgrades and more special missions - even to this day it's also a version of btd5 that isn't bogged down by the years of additional content added to btd5 mobile, which is great if you're overwhelmed by the sheer number of medals, maps and modes in that version it's also very possible to get btd5 deluxe in current day as abandonware, would recommend trying it out for an obscure but enjoyable flash to the past
Admittedly the steam version of 5 is the much better game, but man this still is such an old gem and it's great finding people who actually knew about it and played it.
I think BTD Battles 2 is their biggest mistake. The original was insanely popular, it had a lot of hype, then the player base just fell off a cliff and keeps dropping despite them fixing the game.
The new mission is actually in balloons TD5, but now it’s not a mission and it’s just a map and I think it only has one monkey support not two but you can still get hypersonic strong monkeys and it’s pretty good. Also the watermelon spitter is the only exclusive special agent agent as far as I’m aware there’s a few other special agents that are unique to this, but they come on event, maps and stuff so you won’t know about it
@@derbabo8455why arent you replying that nobody cares to all other comments? since it seems that people are only allowed to comment if it is absolutely neccesary and a life or death situation, i dont see you reminding everyone about that fact
@@beandognumber2241 perhaps what they mean is "Yeah no one cares that NK added most of the deluxe features to the regular game because it was fun anyways"
I bought BTD5 Deluxe, and I still have it installed on an old HDD in a tertiary computer I sometimes use. My kid loves to play it almost as much as BTD6.
BTD5 Deluxe to me was a failure to realize what their market was. 14 years ago, most of their players were adolescent children, somewhere between the ages of 10-18. The appeal of BTD was that it was a flash game which could be played anywhere. Mobile had the same power. But $15 is a big ask for a kid, and no kid is going to ask their parents to buy them a $15 game for their twice a year present.
I havent played BTD5 for a decade yo. 4:20 engie and bloonchipper. I paused to flex down here, just cuz deluxe is very special and I had it. [oh hey I was correct! bloonchipper was so cool!]
I remember getting this when I was like 14 as a bribe for going to the dentist or something. I played it a ridiculous amount, forgot about it, and then came back and it was gone forever. I feel like I should be upset, but I probably got like 1000hrs out of it, that's a good run in my book.
Technically just a redirect to a different supported version, but honest enough, you paid for one copy, and they only added steam to the requirements after the fact.
I haven't watched you in a long while but damn did this bring a lot of memories Whilst I don't have a lot of experience with the flash version(except monkey city, really loved monkey city both flash and mobile) I really just do miss the simplicity of BTD5 Don't get me wrong BTD6 is a good game, but I always felt that it was in a way, too bloated even from the start, and what turned me off from BTD6 specifically is the piercing changes between it and BTD5, towers I loved in 5 were almost worthless in 6 I also miss the bloonchipper and the darling gunner,I know the chipper was super busted and probably wouldn't work in 6 but the darling, come on
I love guns and angels in ninja kiwi archive, sadly i havent played it in my childhood, and i played few cool games platformers with dragons, that i want to play again, because i sucked in them in childhood. One i think i beated few times, you were able to get different ellemets to solve puzzle or attack enemys, kinda like this puzzle game with magician. And other one had water lvls and i dont think there were elemet switching.
I still hope for the day they bring back the Bloon Chipper. The fish path on Beast Tamer kinda fills the spot, but the fact that you need water makes it tough to compare fairly.
I played BTD5 on mobile, but the Bloonchipper and the Engineer were definitely fun to use. I remember making my old ipod crash from the amount of stuff happening, haha
I think I might have this on an old account. I remember buying the village buff for monkey money that gave it insane range. Game felt way too easy after unlocking the agency buffs imo
...wait, i DID hold on to the files, but I haven't tried yet. *I NEED A KEY?* uuuuuagh I didn't know I'd need something like that... then again if i have the files surely i can hack it. would that be illegal? according to a blog post btd5 deluxe was discontinued because upkeeping it with windows or something was tough so they moved to steam. 8:45 You fiend and liar! /j. The Watermelon Spitter, Monkey Farmer, and Mad Snowman were new to this. I especially liked the Watermelon Spitter!!!
Ninja kiwi might of made a mistake, but this video is a GREAT video. Love the historical content. When we getting a monkey city update? Remember you trying to fill up the map.
The only thing I'm salty about BTD5 Deluxe is that I lost my installer lol If you're gonna sell me a product, at least let me keep perpetual access to that product.
Nah man I remember as a kid Deluxe was the shit, my first ever BTD game was 4 and BTD5 came out legit weeks after I first played btd 4 and that flash artstyle is literally iconic to me, BTD5 on steam and mobile has the worst artstyle of any BTD game IMO even BTD4 was better looking. I would kill for them to re-master BTD5 Deluxe I'd pay up to 30$ for that shit
They are still a corporation that needs to earn money as he mentions in the video, and battles 1 and 2 are free games. (Plus battles 2 has gotten much better as an experience overall and even stopped supporting the monthly paid VIP for a one-time permanent purchase instead)
