Ahmed Johnson, for example, was INSANELY over without being able to wrestle for crap and probably has never cut a comprehensible promo in his career. I think we just liked it because it was fun at the time, and, to quote(or paraphrase) Jon Moxley from a ~2009 shoot interview: "Have fun watching wrestling, because wrestling's fun."
I vaguely have a memory of playing against my dad in a cage match in this game which ended with me escaping as he failed to find a way to climb the cage to stop me. Still love those FMV’s, especially with Ahmed’s “Step up to punchy” and Kane’s beautiful poem he reads to start the match

42:02 - Start of the Muhfuggin Challenge It's so bad it's good. Like it didn't age well, but Attitude is a step in all the right directions from Warzone here. This was a great experience to relive again, since I played this a bunch growing up. But the combo system is so odd...
One really has to wonder why Acclaim went with Tekken inputs for wresslin' games. The ECW games had so much potential, with the silly match stipulations and whatnot...
@@nikudriverhc4647 I've never gotten around to playing the ECW games...I've always fired it up, and just saw a re-skinned Attitude and thought of the combos and it just...put me off, I guess? The combo system baffles me. Like it's okay enough to do, but I have to be in the right mindset to play. It makes sense for fighting games, and maybe they thought it mad sense here too since they were also fighting....in a sense. Once Smackdown came out...I just couldn't go back to Attitude.
@@TheOneEV2 I feel what you're saying. Even simulating matches in these Acclaim games is a pain (too many health bars). But as the Rumble Marathons proved, those games *can* be hilarious with stuff like Fat Mode and such. Plus, matches where the floor is literally lava! Well, the combo system does make sense since you're fighting... But the hit detection is so rough it only makes things worse. Even me, who joined wrestling around SvR '07 (which was already slower-paced than the old Smackdown games), can't really enjoy these Acclaim games.

Yeah this game sucked. I remember first buying it and it was difficult to understand the controls, I was also a kid who didn’t read the manual too often, but even then, I couldn’t understand why they made the controls to hard to understand. I remember playing mostly exhibition mode, and a little bit of season, before just giving up on the game. I do remember playing as Undertaker and playing against Undertaker, but in purple gloves and purple arm band.
I loved this video so much, that I created him to the best that I could with body parts and clothes to make it as accurate as possible in WWF Smackdown Just Bring It! But because it was so limited on how many words you could type in, I named him, Ah Boy Cow, with his ring name being Muthafuggin. And his name that the announcers call him is Nightmare. And I had him beat Stone Cold for the WWF Championship. So now AH Boy Muthafuggin Cow is the WWF Champion in my saved Just Bring It!
This was the first WWF game I ever played. Good memories. Hated the combo system though. I’m so hoping y’all play WWF Attitude, it’s my fave when between it and War Zone.
This game came out in July - Sept '98. The game itself on the other hand is based on summer of '97. The game was already a year out of date by the time it came out.
Hence why Bret Hart and British Bulldog are still in it despite leaving the company several months earlier. Somehow the game had a massive delay in production, which led to no WWF game for 1997.
I always hated the Hardcore Matches as a kid because I would always pick up weapons when I wanted to grapple or pin. Watching this just brought back painful memories of it and even now I was getting frustrated just watching it. Who thought it was a good idea to have one button for three separate commands?
This brings back memories. I still laugh when I think of how every punch in the game was your character just smacking and poking opponents with your iron clad open hand.
I can't believe you played this for almost 4 hours and not one of you realized that the smaller meter underneath your health indicates the amount of damage you are inflicting on the opponent with each attack. When the crowd is cheering for you, it doubles (and sometimes triples & quadruples) the amount of your attack damage. If they are cheering you, you get out of stun faster. The opponent gets the same perks also.
1:14:02 I always thought Grudge matches where harder.I think they are to see if you are good enough to keep moving up, like a gate keeper. Most of my Grudge matches took place at the same spots here. Some did take place later like I got three spots in on level one when I had the first one. I think it is based on a formula of how long the matches take, how fast you win them, and how badly you beat your opponent, and the health you both have at the end. I hated them 80 percent of the time I got the cage match, 10 percent weapons, and the last normal. I think the type also based on the same formula too, as when I was doing great wining all my matches a Cage Grudge Match would happen as it is the hardest one because to win you opponent must be in red, and stunned a long time for you to leave the cage. Now for the last two depends on who your fighting, what level you are on, and how good your are.
I remember me and my brother just taunting each other back and forth and not even wrestle. That and Stone Cold tackling you, punch you in the face saying "Don't take this ass whooping personal, son." And "OH HELL YEA!"
I have some many vivid memories of War zone. I remember getting it at Funcoland, being afraid of facing Undertaker and Kane as a kid, especially Kane's silent promos. All of my CAWS had Dx shirts with European title belts.

I remember as a kid me and my friend never managed to work out how to name our wrestlers so they were always named Default. And we didn't know what default meant, we just thought it was a weird name 😂
