Generations of Acoma potters inspired Lucy Lewis to experiment with traditional design.
“There’s just so many designs that she did. She wanted to do what her aunts in the past have done.”

Acoma is a magical place. My tiny (modern) Acoma pot is a treasure carefully carried home over 1500 miles.

These pattern speak an natural universal language directly to your heart. I watched this video 2-3 years ago and it always comes to my mind. I think it's time to buy one of her pieces for me :)

I've always been impressed by the skill and artistry of the Natives, you can take one look at it and you know that it is a legacy that has been handed down for centuries and that can't be ignored. When I see a pot made by a 'true' artist like Lucy and I study the lines and shapes I feel like she put a small piece of her soul into each and every design, I would love to know what she was thinking about as she drew those lines and shapes, and what personal significance they may have held for her....

she genuinely brought the clay to life and into the lives of some very lucky people, her designs are fine art. what an amazing show that would be to see. maybe Grey Dog can help put that together.
