I like Nneka and her sister Chiney but it's sad that she's really pleading us to watch the WNBA, she said, "to just have the TV on and let it play" even if we're not watching the game. How about we make it more exciting to watch by lowering the rim from 10ft to 9ft so more WNBA players can dunk, creating rivalries in the league that people care about and creating a narratives with commercials. Don't beg people to watch you play. Nneka and other WNBA players deserve better.

@KEM 77 i know basketball is more than dunking but the average fan doesn't watch the NBA for skill. They like to watch Stars do things they can do, like Zion, Lebron, Giannis, Russ dunking, Steph Curry, James Harden, KD shooting 3s. Why not make the game more entertaining for the WNBA by highlighting the skills the women players have rather than trying to play the same way the men do. Because for the past 20-30 years, it hasn't been working
@agimasoschandir
@agimasoschandir 4 года назад
[sarcasm]Yeah, we could lower the hoop on the man's court so more men players could dunk, yeah, you have a point there [/sarcasm] One day there won't be two leagues, just a basketball league where people will play on a team, regardless of gender

I'm going to float a thought, here. Could it be that _part_ of the blame for this inequality stems from the fact that the NBA for _men_ is just called "the NBA," while the NBA for _women_ is called "the _WNBA?"_ Might it make more sense to call the NBA for _men_ "the _MNBA?"_
@izzywoods794

@@izzywoods794 Well, I'm not suggesting that this is where it _began,_ but by continuing to call the NBA for _women_ "the _WNBA,"_ could it be that society reinforces this image of basketball as a sport that has to be _modified_ in order to make it _for women?_

I’ve always had this issue. Because it implies that the men’s league it standard but it’s fair because they existed first and the WNBA is a branch of the NBA. Lowering the basket so that more players can dunk won't help. No matter how great a player is, people just don't take women's sports seriously. Basketball, Soccer, Softball to name a few. I think the only sport people will flock to is Tennis. But for the WNBA and NWSL (which Kobe Bryant was a great supporter of) people just see it as a joke. But I think it's just jealousy from some men who can't handle a woman being more talented than what they think they are when they sit on the couch yelling how much better they can do.
