USB fan:
The Arlec fan was from Bunnings. I could not find it online though, so go instore and ask. That being said, this may not be the best USB fan out there, I just have the one due to financial inability to try others. I usually point it directly at me while it's either plugged into a power station or a power bank.
Kickass USB fan:
I don't have this, but it looks fantastic. The only thing I will mention - the Arlec one is good as I don't have to charge it up, just plug in via USB and it goes. This one I don't know if you have to charge it first before using it. I find it great not to have to charge the Arlec up first, so keep that in mind. This may or may not do the same thing. • The 12V Camping Fan fr...
240V fan:
I've had this forever. Get it from any department store.
iTechworld power bank: ‪@itechworld1‬
I have the iTECHKPD20 in the video, and also a few other random power banks I've picked up over the years. I always make sure they are fully charged as I can use them to charge other things too if needed eg. USB lights, iPad, phone, etc. My power stations pretty much have me covered, but it's good to have additional power, as you never know when you're going to need it. I have a total of 4 power banks from various companies. Find them in any department store or get the one like I have from iTechworld. itechworld.com...
iTechworld power stations:
I have the 1300P and i300 that are on this page. (the iTECH300 PRO is the latest upgrade to the one shown in the video, mine is the predecessor) itechworld.com...
I also had the fan plugged into the iTechworld GoFurther Battery box, as I didn't want to disturb my little friend you see in the video by unplugging it and moving it. The battery box is here: itechworld.com... The battery inside is an ITech120 X PRO. itechworld.com...
BACKSTORY - HOW I GOT HERE............
I bought this home initially about 15 years ago for $5000. It was $12000 total, but I got the first homebuyers grant of $7000, which took it down to $5000. I sold it about 10 years ago after writing a mildly amusing ad on gumtree for it, which garnered some media attention (radio, tv and press www.watoday.co...) I sold my house for $12000. I then bought it back last year for $12500.
I was unable to get the power turned on as the electrician I contacted politely said they wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. This was actually a blessing in disguise as I otherwise would not have known all this amazing stuff about solar power and all the amazing things I’ve been discovering about living off grid. All this electrical/plumbing work would have been super expensive too!
I have chosen only to use power from the sun, so although gas or diesel could give me the ability to cook, boil a kettle etc, I’ll wait till I can afford to get the appropriate power stations to power it. I have to purchase things bit by bit as my bank will not give me any sort of a loan as I have had past issues with debt (years ago) due to cost of living.
I work from home so can do what I do anywhere (I’m a transcriber and sell on eBay). Also in the past I have produced shows at multiple festivals and other venues around Australia. I'd like to do this again (maybe even one talking about my off grid adventures), but at the moment the priority is getting my house sorted.
