Someone asked in a group chat what to do if they don't possess a bike stand. This is what I do for this bike, while I wait for my pitbull stand to arrive.
I use a pitbull stand, but was showing an alt method. I want to install storage with some type of mechanical lift attached, so I can hoist things... but my ceiling in the garage is around 18 feet. I had to rent a lift to even change light bulbs.
I don't know how often you can get away from using the oil pan as a jack point as the weight is compressing/squeezing against the gasket(s)... granted you are only lifting the bike enough to get the rear wheel off the ground... but still a risk and shaky balance act in my opinion.
To be transparent, I do have Pitbull stands. However, this video was to show it can be done safely as demonstrated. Two important take aways are use wood block to ensure your not going to crack your oil pan and do not jack past the bikes tipping point while on the side stand. I hope that many people find this technique useful in a pinch. Thanks for watching.
I read you have a pitbull stand, can you still adjust the chain using that stand, I'm thinking it puts too much pressure on the hub, I'm trying to decide between the Pitbull and Abba is why I ask, thanks
Yes, all chain maintenance can be done using the pitbull stand. I'm not familiar with any issues regarding the hub. The one thing I couldn't do with the stand was the sprocket removal. It required me to put the tire back on, to remove the sprocket. Cheers GL
These are the OEM Michelin Power 5's. This is my 2nd set. They're good but only get about 5k on them. I have the Rosso III's on stand-by for my next track day to see if I like more. Michelin's thus far have been superb on my bikes.
It was sorted out before my track day, when I put on a new tire. Honda doesn't provide tools anymore (similar to Ducati and Yamaha) on their higher end bikes. I've since ordered the pin spanner myself. It's pretty lame.
