Same! Already bought two, and looking for a third. Saw Browning FINALLY came out with their new A5 20ga. Been waiting for one for over a decade. Going to buy the first one I can get my hands on.
Tom, please don't stress on making videos for us. There is enough stress in life without adding to it yourself. Make them as you can so it is not a burden.
Lookin forward to your new content. You keep it real like Ron Spomer. Interesting and educational without all the hype of a lot of guntubers, especially the younger ones.
Please don't anyone take this the wrong way with the following, just a little good natured fun. I love this channel and Tom is awesome. But despite Tom's noble and sensible "no buy" plan , has anyone looked up the Vegas line on the over\under for how many rifles Tom actually acquires in 2024, brand new or new to him. I would estimate it would be around 3. Watching all his videos this "no buy" could be a pretty tall mountain to climb...all the best Tom and I hope you do it man, cheers!....and keep up the great videos!
I cant fathom 303 brit hitting 3000fps!! What powder loads did you try!! Seems you would need a little dynomite!! Hahaha!!! Love your mello laid back content! Keep up the great work!! And keep us up on the house!! I am retired and am loving the content!! 😊
I will be buying a lot in 2024 .....stocking up and finishing all house projects! Decks, generation system, new roof , firearms, ammo, accesories, auto projects, ,etc! 🏠 I will be digging in too!! Islanding as it were!!
For whatever it's worth, I still like seeing the videos where things don't go quite as exciting as planned. More data, even disappointing data, is always interesting. Hoping to do something similar this year, I've got a project or two that I want to have completed and settled before I pick up any new ones!
I almost bought a .223 rifle for deer hunting, it was the only ammunition I could find for a while. Fortunately I never ran out of 30-30 ammunition, but that rifle is my grand dad's 1899. My eyes aren't what they used to be but I don't want to put a scope on it. I ended up with a Howa 30-06 I was able to get a nice Leupold scope, now am testing ammunition and loads. I like your videos, especially your reloading methods.
Kind of late in the years but I was on a good run until I fell off the wagon in July with 6 nice used premium rifles😢 Got my youngest son a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby that is like new and he saw it and fell in love at first sight and being they don’t make them anymore and it’s like new in the box, then I saw a Browning Safari deluxe that was like new in 7 rem mag and one of the few Brownings I haven’t owned in 60+ years of collecting and it found a new home, then I went to my friends 2 pawn shops and spotted a super nice Sako Finnbear deluxe like new and of course it saw begging for a new home so I adopted and I just need to put a new recoil pad on it and it’s a gift for my next to youngest son who fell in love with it a feet’s sight and then I saw a husqvarna H5000 lightweight in 3006 which are VERY hard to find and it’s in very good shape and as light as most of all the new light weight rifles but in CRF action😍 I had a new Pachmayr red recoil pad put on it and just need to put a new Leupold scope on it and it will still be under 7 pounds and best comb you could ever ask for! Gunaholic and still having withdrawal pains🤣
I had never bought a firearm in my life. My dad bought me a henry .22 lever action when i turned 12 a decade ago. Now im 22 and have disposable "big boy" income and my third gun this year is in the mail headed for me right now :)
I already blew the budget for 2024 the first week of January lol. Picked up a brand new (to me) 1964 savage 99 DL in 300 savage and a leupold vx3hd 1.5-5 to top it off. Plus 10 different bullets for load development and brass. Now I’m going to try to not buy anymore guns unless it’s a screaming deal 😂
Tom, I like the realism you bring to the table. I can watch any TV show or advertisement for perfection. It’s the imperfections that make RU-vid interesting. Your Christmas gun specials have been a good education.
Dude, we don't worry about firearms we worry about ammo. We haven't had long rifle primers in 3 years. The major importer has over 1 million CCI large rifle primers on backorder. Nosler projectile prices are getting ridiculous, I wonder sometimes if they are using gold alloy in the copper jacket. Our powder factory burnt down then when they rebuilt it 2 years later the opening was delayed by the OH&S department. They stopped making shotgun and pistol powder 5 years ago. If you were going to bug out, the time to start hoarding was 2019. Pensioners are giving up at the clubs because they can't afford new ammo and there are no reloading components for them.
As others have mentioned in the comments, the videos showing where things don't always work as planned provide great info to others so that they can learn from it. While it may come across as not interesting it is still helpful information. I have a video of an ATV carburetor rebuild that I just feel is boring, but it continues to get a lot of views because people want that information, especially in the spring time when they are trying to get their four-wheelers up and running. To me that powder and load video that you mentioned would do great titled something like: Will this 303 British load and powder produce 2900 FPS as claimed - Let's see if it really works Or: Will it work? - powder and load claim 2900 FPS from the 303 British. I am sure that would get a lot of views even if the majority of the video is of you at the work bench talking about what you read, how you found the powder and components and tried several different grains to try and get the results where you then throw in footage of chrono testing and groups that prove the claims are not the same for your set up. Just some of my thoughts on it. Either way, I like your videos. My production goal is two videos a week and I've settled on Tuesday and Friday. Most are of me shooting some gun that I have my hands one, but as you know I like to throw in a dove field video or hunting video from time to time. Wednesday I plan on re-working my fire breaks and Saturday I plan on burning my long lief pines. I'll video it and throw it out there too. Some people like this stuff and some don't.
Tom. I would prefer to see the videos where all does not go as planned. I mean you already made the video just post it. This is a great way for me to enjoy watching another person not have things always go right. Keep up the great work.
Good Going Sir. I can go through 24 without buying a new toy.As did since 19 or 20 really don't wont to but can't afford one. Still having issues with getting some accessories I can use but make doey with what have available n or can gets.Dont like that either but... God Bless Ya n Yours n PTL no matter.
He gives us interesting talks. And he was saying that he doesn't tell about things that didn't work out. In most research fields a NO or Failure is information worth knowing. It never makes the headlines, which is a pity. But just because it is boring doesn't mean it is not useful. Hope he will be able to eat red meat. Unless, get a bayonet for an old rifle and hunt truffles.
I plan on getting rid of some hobbies and evaluating what I have and deciding on what I want to dispose of. I have gotten used to having a clear walkway. Lol
No-buy '24!?! Why would you do this? Minimalist? Same reaction. Sir, you most certainly have learned to make a good video! Your offerings are always excellent and appreciated, whenever uploaded. Great delivery, well-reasoned! Please consider: the most successful minimalist is the one who possesses all the gear he and his associates could ever need. (Perhaps not unlike the happiest celebate is the one who just had sex!) Great channel, Sir! Good hunting...!
Good for you Tom. Get all situated for 270win,308win, 30-06 and your set for anywhere. My suggestion would be to get the ammo and and optics all squared away and then go use the stuff. Go hunt those whitetails and then maybe go for some trips elsewhere and actually use those rifles. Theres wolf, bear, elk, hog, moose, and other things to hunt. It's no good to just collect rifles that really get no use. At the end of it all the only thing we have are memories and experiences and those are worth more than supporting any arms makers.
I ordered a barrel from a online company they put me on a three month waiting list they sent me an email will was at work by the time i got home they sold it out from under me i called the manufacturer they had one in stock an i had it by the end of the week
I don't see where there is anything wrong with the quality of your videos. And since I'm on the subject, the experiment of the VV133 in the .303 didn't satisfy you as to video quality, ok, but to those of us out here in 'real world' land, sometimes the hard lesson you learn when something doesn't go right...is valuable to us. Knowing what not to do is almost as valuable as knowing what to do. Your time is valuable and limited, I get that, but I just spent an hour cruising RU-vid and found an information vacuum on, of all subjects, the .303 sporter. You say, oh no that can't be right...there are too many already. Let me explain, every video is either a shallow info video, or a detailed description of restoring and bedding full military rifles to use military loads. My long winded request is this... make a video(s) for us common folk who have Enfield bubba sporters, have no intention of restoring them, want to use them with shortened stocks aftermarket sights or optics. We could use some guidance for bedding, and loads, for the classic bubba sporter. You bring a lot to the .303 table, show us the road, please.
I very much want to get my boy a 6.5 grendel mini carbon fiber youth. It's going to put me back just under a grand, hopefully I don't need one for everyone in my family.
I haven't even watched the video yet, (I will) and I say why bother? Just sell a couple and keep the game moving forward! 300 Winmag and 300 Norma might be a good addition!
