Keeping a list of temptations that I overcame is going to help a lot. I actually canceled a backorder for an item I placed before you started this series. A good way to start a list! My list will grow a lot and will definitely reinforce my willpower. I hint around about over consumption but have not been as good as I might be, so a system of sorts will probably keep me on track. For a long time I've said I'm really happy with less. I look forward to an Interesting year.

Like being on a diet, measure progress, come up with a way to deal with cravings, apparently the craving only lasts a few second. So do something else like go up and down the steps, or do a few sit-ups until the craving passes. When I went to Jenny Craig they had a few acronyms to help with that but i don't remember them now You could go window shopping, put stuff in your cart, add up how much it WOULD have cost, empty your cart and write how much you saved.

@@recoveringsoul755 I think in December of 2022 I'll fully grasp what I have done and the amount saved. I forget how fast art supplies add up when I purchase things in small amounts across a full year. I hope your week is wonderful!

My main motivation is to combat my hoarding habit, especially because I've been trying to practice minimalism for a few years now, but I also decided to give myself a reward motivation... I've wanted to be able to use procreate for several years now. But I've never been able to justify shelling out the amount of cash that it takes to get an iPad and pencil. But when I think about it I probably spend the equivalent amount of money on traditional art supplies over a longer period of time! So over the course of 2022 I want to save the money I would have otherwise spent on art supplies, and if I successfully go the entire year without buying any new art supplies then I will allow myself to buy the iPad & necessary accessories. To fight temptation though I'm not even going to look at iPads until 2023!!! Only if I complete the challenge and save up enough money will I then even think about it.

It's so easy for me to save art supplies and hoard too. I love minimalism so much. I've never tried Procreate, but it looks amazing. You have a great savings plan laid out for yourself. We can do this! I hope your families week is wonderful!

I wish you good luck with motivation. It reminds me of diet plan I need to join you for not eat crap for a year and all the money I save I will spend on art supplies.🤭

I think the no buy challenge is actually a very important aspect that could also apply for a lot of other things (clothes, make-up etc). I have noticed to overbuy things related to art, especially if it seems cool. Do I need this? Most certainly not. Do I still buy it? Probably. I am going to do this no buy thing for next year as well. The only exception will be paper and white guache, but it will be okay, as I don’t think that I will run out that fast (maybe the guache will). Now on to this video, I really appreciate that you made this video. I did not really consider that I might buy too much until I saw the thumbnail of this video, as I have never been Someone to impulse buy. I first did not click on it, because well, self-delusion? I guess I have found my weak point.

I know this is easy for me to say since discontinued paper is not my personal weakness. But these thoughts occur to me about discontinued items. If you fall in love with it, you'll only be really heartbroken when you run out and it's tempting to "save" it instead of using it. But maybe there's a reason it's being discontinued -- maybe it's not that great. Or maybe the company is intentionally manipulating their customers by churning out too many mediocre products. The limited edition stuff is crazy these days. The other day I saw limited edition blueberries in the grocery.

I totally support what you’re doing and I’m very interested in your journey. However, I’m not joining you on your no buy art supply. That might change, who knows. Your illustrations are amazing, and they remind me of grey scale illustrations that beg to be colored.
