No Campgrounds Plus RV Tow Car FIRE: We started the week with nowhere to camp. We have been on the road for almost 3 years and we have never been in a situation where there were no more campsites available. Find out where we stay and what we do when we can't find a place to land. Along the way, we also ran into an RV with their TOAD on fire. We learned so many lessons fighting that fire. See what happened and why it started. Please stay safe out there. The fire was terrifying and reminded us of the importance of RV safety

Hey Guy! Just an update we are all doing fine! It took us quite awhile to calm down but we are so thankfully for everyone that stopped to help us! I know at one point there had to be 8-10 people with fire extinguishers out there. We were beyond thankful for each and every one of you!!!

I have a Expedition and read that it can be tricky to get it setup for toad. Its hard to imagine a tire causing the fire.
@boosted.
@boosted. 3 года назад
@@U20E27 some of the breaking systems for the toad are very unsafe so say the least like putting a box between your front drivers seat that gets a break signal and pushes on your break peddle not sure how that works when your toad has power breaks that run on engine vacuum when it’s engine is running but it’s not when being towed I could see maybe the breaks were dragging on the toed

@@todayissomeday #1) As a former Damage Controlman, I know that everyone, as I'm sure you were, on a Navy ship gets trained in Firefighting. It's that important. I'm sure that training kicked in for you. We are grateful. #2) Many mock "Rubber Necking". My theory is, it's not so much that people get a kick out of others' miss fortune, as it is to learn how they can avoid the same type of tragedy. So I'm glad you asked the questions. You may have helped other avoid the same kind of catastrophe.

You were meant to be delayed with your tpms so you could help those RVers out, if you left earlier (on time) you wouldn't have been there to help. I've had several times in my life where things delayed me and I ended up being where I was suppose to be so I can help someone out. The last time was when I was in Sam's Club and some stranger came up to me and chatted with me for about 20 minutes (which I never do), I went outside and saw a lady walking away from her car with her large dog panting inside. I confronted her and ended up calling police because the dog was definitely overheated. There's a reason for everything. Glad you were able to help them and happy they are safe.

Stacey and Phil, as others have said, you do not try to to create sensationalism for views. You told the story of the fire without drama, that everyone was safe, and what you could realistically do to help. That is what I like about this channel. This is also what I like about both of you. You present yourselves as you are; real, kind, and caring about others. It is such a pleasure to watch your videos.

I agree about the drama. I want to see positivity and respect for self and for others! If there is a bad situation I want to see clues how to handle something. I'm glad I didn't see the worst part of this incident. It seems like a very close thing to get that SUV unhooked before the fire spread to the rig. Maybe that one person with the fire extinguisher and NOT a camera made the difference. I think I'm commenting about a year after this video was posted. I bet parts of that day are still seared into your brains because that really could have been much worse for the family you helped.

THANK YOU! I learned three important lessons watching this video. In 2019 my 89 year old father sold his Class A thinking he was done traveling, that lasted 2 weeks before he started looking for something I (his daughter, me) would be comfortable driving. The biggest problem with Class A and Super C was he struggled to climb the steep steps to get in, so he settled on buying a 32 foot, gas, Class C which was lower to the ground. He has over 40 years of RVing and I have 3 so its still a learning curve for me and he really doesn’t tell me anything so I’ve started reading and watching videos to learn. With his Class A it had a built-in TPMS, to me its like huh? Of course with the cheaper Class C it doesn’t have the bells and whistles. Dad had the RV dealer change out the backup camera so he could monitor the tow car unfortunately you can only see the front end of the car. When I asked him about the TPMS at his age he doesn’t realize technology is always improving and he said “they’re all just junk”. Sorry dad, your last coach was 13 years old, I think they’ve improved, I bought one! Watching your video and you explaining how you disconnected the burning car from the coach, I’m going to be swapping out dads locking cotter pin for one with a clip. And lesson number three, have more then one fire extinguisher inside the rv. My dad now at 91 has an amazing memory and has RVed in every land lock state in America and every province in Canada. He now has learned you can’t just show up anymore at a campground and think they have openings and when I’m booking our campgrounds for our travels I can ask about a campground and get a yes or no response like “I stayed there 32 years ago and blah blah blah I’ll never stay at their campground again” or while driving he’ll describe a campground to a tee like “slow down there’s a amazing little campground down this next road and we’ll stop for the night” here we are driving out in the middle of nowhere and there’s not even a sign for the campground and he was right. “Dad, how many times have you stayed here?” His reply “once 24 years ago” the stories this man could tell about his travels!
@todayissomeday
@todayissomeday 3 года назад
I love everything about this! This is why we do what we do.....to help folks make an informed decision and let the, know what works. I have replaced my locking hitch pin with a regular pin with a cotter pin while traveling. When I stop and/or unhook the Jeep for the night, I will add my locking pin. Good call on getting a TPMS and more extinguishers! Have fun and enjoy your Dad's stories!!!

It's the fact that you guys are a military family! That "team" mindset plays into every aspect of life, we are a retired Navy family (FCC(SW) 22 Years) and we just purchased a 2007 Damon Tuscany 40' Pusher. Thank you sir for your service and for being such great people! We are based out of Bethera, SC and can't wait to hit the road and meet fantastic people such as yourselves!! BZ Sir job well done!

Another wonderful video from you guys!! And wow, what a learning experience regarding the TPMS. I'll join the chorus of fans admiring y'all for taking care of the family first and helping them out before turning the camera on. You are just such wonderful people!! That was some powerful stuff and great advice. Phil, I hope your knee is better soon!!

I love this style of vlog. I appreciate the every day type of information. Once a first responder always a first responder. Becomes second nature to jump in during an emergency. This vlog drives home the importance of safety. Thank you.

Safety first!! Stopping to help someone in need is just the right thing to do. Kudos to both of you. Whoever thinks “why didn you get more video coverage” has obviously NOT been in a similar situation. Love you 2 (and Gizzy). Thank you for your military service and all the valuable info you put out to the RV community. Long time subscriber and supporters here in GA. Safe travels!!

Added Pooler Ga Outlets to my boondocking list. Last time in Savannah we stayed in the hospital parking lot, worked for one night and ended up in Sams club next night. RV parks were all full. Loved watching this episode.

OMG! Glad y’all could help. We just bought 2 additional fire extinguishers for our new coach. The one that came with it is very wimpy so that was a priority.. I’m just learning about our coach and this really reminded me again, SAFETY FIRST!! Glad everyone is ok!

Wow! I understand your instinct to get out and help with that fire. My dad was a navy man during WWII and told me a story about how his shipped was on fire after an attack and how every crewman knew exactly what they had to do to save each other and the ship. I was never in the military but have great respect for guys like you. Oh, and I'm not forgetting your little lady. And I'm not calling her that disrespectfully. She really is little next to you 😀. Both of you responded magnificently to that emergency.

As someone who was a trucker for 8 years I appreciate you’re being aware of your time on the fuel island. Hated late at night. Dog tired. Needing to fuel up before heading to sleep and waiting for an rv or diesel non commercial truck taking up a lane not fueling lol
