"Les Hommes De Rose "serie TV of the end of the 70's about french truck drivers driving to the Middle East, The 70's and 80's were the golden year of transport from Europe to Middle East.The trucks in the serie are SAVIEM 340V8
When i have begin to drive at the age of 18 in 1977 ,i have seen those trucks of the company like STOUFF,CARRYfrom France ,P.I.E,ASTRA,from UK SOMAT from Bulgaria UNGAROCAMION from UNGARY....I was dreaming about their destinations

Aye..real drivers and real trucks too. They had to be drivers and mechanics rolled into one.

Great Stuff Patrick.. I remember hearing about one driver who used to do the former 'east European' runs in the 70's/80s who used to take loads of Polaroid Sunglasses and ladies stockings to exchange for fuel !!..

I love old stuff like this Patrick, days when if it broke down you had no choice but to fix it and get on with it. A fellow RU-vidr sent me some DVD's of old transport footage. The english company ASTRA was based in Kent, Ashford, I think, they made a documentary about going to DOHA in the Middle East, brilliant film. Took about 6 weeks to get there, 6 weeks back, then do it all again... Nooooo :-) I was 16 when you started driving, just left school... :-)

ah oui Valentin .....il y en avait des super sympa et gentil quand tu leur posais des questions a propos de cette route et puis des qui se la petait comme pas 2 parce qu ils y avaient été.Moi,j avais 16 ans et au Mt Blanc il y en avait un qui revenait(avec la feuille de palmier sur la calandre) et a vide.Je lui avais demander si il n y avait rien a ramener de labas,il m a repondu d un ton hautin "des cailloux peut etre? bon,salut,tu ne connais quand meme pas"....tu vois le genre? BON WEEKEND p

AH OUI J AVOUE.....mais tu avais mis tout des petits extrait,j ai fais le montage pour que c est plus facile a voir,bon maintenant ....si tu veux je la delete tout de suite....pas de problemes.....le seul truc ,c est que si tu lis les commentaires,tu peux voir que maintenant c et connu dans pas mal de pays .....alors le routier pas tres sympa attend ta reponce.... j avais regardé cette serie quand j etais ado dans les années 70 et je me souviens de ces camions ,on les voyait au Mt Blanc BON W.E

yes in the 70's the the french trucks companies Berliet and Saviem becames RVI (Renault vehicules industriels)....In.the video you can see the first Renault trucks
